Crown and Crumpet has it ALL. Delicious food and teas (I AM a tea freak), amazing service, creative presentation and top notch service. Stop for just a bit of tea and absorb the wonderful decor--a relaxing place to meet up with friends before walking up Fillmore, or going to the movies at Sundance Kabuki. If youre reading this thinking, um, I dont know, I just need a place to sit and relax--GO. Super relaxing. If you need a place to bring mom, or daughter, it is VERY special and your loved one will feel quite pampered. If youre reading this on February 13-15, call ahead as they have a very special tea service for Valentines weekend--DO call as you will enjoy it whether youre a tea place person or not. I was blown away by the deliciousness of the food and special Valentines tea blends, complimentary mocktails and cocktails, best-ever biscuits, fresh crumpets, sausage in a blanket and quiche savory delights, sweet heart shaped open faced finger sandwiches (which I was certain would not taste as good as they looked, but no, as ever, their ingredients and creativity rocked my taste buds). Chocolate covered strawberries wth high quality chocolate, choc chip cookies with baked in candy hearts and confetti, and more. You cannot go wrong. I recommend Crown and Crumpet and salute its amazing staff and leadership for creating this place, and a very special Valentines weekend service.

My roommate and I are going around the city searching for the best high-tea restaurant. We went to Crown & Crumpet about an hour till closing time on a rainy afternoon. It was the only reservation left. And Im not surprised. The food and tea are fantastic. I was really hungry, so I ordered the turkey BLT salad along with high-tea. The savory sandwiches, scones, and desserts that came with the tea were all delicious and fresh. I ordered the Marie Antoinette tea, a black tea with a hint of rose. I ended up drinking two pots so I was on a caffeine high and couldnt sleep that night! The Crown & Crumpet has an awkward set up because it takes up the lobby of a mini-mall in Japantown. Its roped off, and theres a constant flow of people. The flow was particularly heavy that afternoon as there was a JPop/film festival event. But it didnt deter from our fun-filled afternoon. And I love the feminine "Mad Hatter" decor and welcoming atmosphere. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the different types of tea. I definitely recommend getting reservations because its pretty popular. Out of the few high-tea restaurants Ive been to, this is by far my favorite.

What the heck is a crumpet? Whatever it is, its delicious! Ive always wanted to come to a cute tea room and we got a chance to come about an hour before closing. Sadly, they said their kitchen was closed and that they can only make tea. We decided to stay anyways and they said that the kitchen was actually available because there was enough people who wanted to order. I dont know if this is a one time thing, but be careful if you come close to closing. I was excited and got a crumpet and a scone along with my Murky Water tea which is fruity with just a hint of sweetness. TBH, I still dont know what a crumpet is, but it was really good. Its like a soft lightly sweeten hybrid of a cake bread. The scone was really good as well as I always fear that scones are too hard, but this one was perfect and delicious in flavor. I loved the clotted cream, jam and lemon curd that came with it too. Overall, this is a really cute place and my light snack and tea was delicious. Its a bit on the pricey side, but its worth it if you spend some time here.

I came to Tea today with a friend and was much surprised that your regular $30 Tea was replaced on the menu with a $48 dollar Tea only and no mention of the regular one :( made for a not so fun Birthday for me; I switched to a pot pie instead ; I had looked on line at the menu to be sure before selecting this as my birthday Tea, as I have come there often and shared my Calligraphy as well. Anyway just a little disappointed, as I knew my friend was taking me out I didn’t want her to pay that much on her fixed income- it would have been nice to have a heads up here on your site that the regular was not on the menu…. =( PS I have come here many times and had the bests of times on my own as well as with friends... just to let you know. Also I tried to send this to your direct email but its full and was sent back.

This is actually my second time here (oops) so we knew that you need to make a reservation, and everyone is required to buy a food item. So, we got one large pot of tea with the adult tea and everyone else got small pots. Im in LOVE with their scones, while meh about their crumpets, but someone else in my party enjoyed them. Their sandwiches are lot larger than the tea sandwiches Ive had before. The service was patient while we figured out what we wanted and they will refill your tea pot. While most of their teas are fruity, theyre delightful. Yes its on the expensive side, but I think most tea places are around this ratio of bang for your buck. Maybe the next time Im in SF, third time?

Love the Crown and Crumpet! Surreally clean and shiny. The teas were delightful and the staff was achingly personable and friendly. Did I say the teas were "delightful" because I meant exceptional. Their blends and tea packages are themed and paired appropriately. Even the owner of the shop was on the scene on my last visit. She was amazingly engaging and attentive even if she was, admittedly, being an "old yenta" about things (her words I assure). Spent at least a solid two hours here before getting to the BART and catching my flight with tasty scones, buttery crumpets, and scrummy finger sandwiches stowed away in my cargo hold. Should not be missed.

I had my small birthday party here. The waitress behaved incredibly artificial. She was not helpful, and also suggested to order more food than we have decided, because it wont be enough. We ended up with the leftovers. The fact that there are no vases, or jars, or whatever for flowers in the place thats popular for birthday parties, is ridiculous. The birthday cupcake was a nice touch, and the food and teas were good. Id really love to have an opportunity to give the tips I left directly to the kitchen staff. I wont come again and wont recommend this place entirely because of the service. It ruined all the atmosphere.

The same great quality of food and nice staff as their previous location. I especially love their scones and crumpets. You can order a full service for $22 per person or select items a la carte. The menu here is a little more limited, especially in the selection of tea. The space feels really different and doesnt work as well for large groups. Its a lot more casual and quiet, with more of a cafe feel. Hopefully in the near future they will keep this space as well as have a second location more similar to what they had before.
