I wish that I could say my experience here was stellar as id hoped it would be based on reviews I read, but I was quite underwhelmed at this restaurant It wasnt that the fish didnt taste fresh because it did. It just didnt stand out to me as a truly great sushi experience should. I found the nigiri very tiny with thin, narrow pieces of fish which were definitely smaller than average. I call this "boutique style" and always feel I am not getting value for my money when the fish is served in these very small portion sizes. My rainbow roll was also lackluster. I did like the extra crunchy/high-quality Nori used to wrap my uni nigiri. The chef/owner was very hospitable and quick and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. But I have to say I wont be back. There are other sushi restaurants I have been to in the area that for me, are much better.

I have been looking for a good sushi restaurant ever since I have moved to Seattle from Northern CA, Having read the reviews and asking around to Seattle natives, I was pointed in the direction of Kisaku. Since I am a broke grad student, I waited to go here for my birthday. The sushi was okay, we ordered the wallingford roll, soft shell crab, spicy tuna (the better of the rolls), negi hama, greenlake roll, tuna roll, sake nigiri and tuna nigiri. There was nothing spectacular about any of them. The service was good, but our waitress was a little spaced out. Im sure for some people they would be totally content with the sushi and continue to frequent the restaurant, but I have had life time love for sushi and refuse to settle for sub par sushi. I will continue to search and hopefully in a wonderful foodie area like Seattle will find something.

The food quality and portion size were below average. While not bad, I expect a place with such high ratings to have superb quality. The sushi from QFC is a grade better than this place. The portions were also very small. The soy sauce seemed bland and too light, almost like it was watered down. Our server was slow and didnt know who ordered what. The menus do not list sushi in their tradition Japanese names, taking away from the authenticity. About the only thing nice about this place was the atmosphere. Its puzzling how such a below average sushi place like this gets such high rating. My guess that the other reviewers simply enjoy the novelty of sushi and have never had anything better. For some better sushi I recommend Ha Na in Capitol Hill or ever the QFC sushi.

This place is awesome! My friend made a reservation online and I got edamame, a cucumber roll, and a vegetarian futomaki roll. The restaurant is on the border of casual and formal. They do reservations, people dress a bit up, and the atmosphere is light. Its a relatively small place and they are well-staffed, so service was attentive. And the server who refilled my water was gorgeous. The food was good, and the amount of edamame is massive! Like the bowls I got in Japan. The cucumber roll is pleasantly cheap at $3, like youd find at most places. Unfortunately they dont have many vegetarian options. There are no entreés without fish, so its veggie rolls only. I would love options with noodles and vegetables.

anyone that says this is the best sushi in seattle is right...how do I know? cuz i know everything. I could bring out my I lived in Japan for a year card to back up my claim (but really I know no better than the next guy what good sushi is). All I do know is that I love this place, it is hte only place Ill eat sushi in Seattle. Try their rolls, Im especially fond of the greenlake roll. This place is no longer the secret it was when I first started going so youll have to wait but call ahead and get on the list. Make sure you dont get seated in the back room as the service is poor back there and the room is a bit stuffy. Sit anywhere else and the service is dyNOmite.

I have no idea why this place was so highly rated, I can only imagine its folks who havent had good sushi. The rolls my date had tasted old, which was disappointing given how well they were plated. My nigiri was....there is no other way to say it, disgusting. The copper river salmon was mushy and felt like paste in your mouth. The otoro was past, fishy tasting. Hamachi was just ok, which given the others was a relief. Bizarrely the place was busy. But as I said, I dont think they know any better. We couldnt get out of there quick enough. Giving an extra star due to the attentive service.

Kisaku is one of Seattles best sushi places, hands-down. Nakano-san, the owner, takes center stage and serves up amazing sushi bites, wonderful omakase and warm friendly service. His team is great, very timely and friendly with the service--but no rushing the customer. Great neighborhood feeling to the place overall. Make sure to expand your horizons with some of the many small plates that serve as a great warm-up to your dive into the sushi. I order uni and negi-toro every time to polish off the perfect sushi buzz.

So good! I came here twice for Omakase and the first time I had a younger chef who loves to use citrus elements in with his fish. I had about 14 pieces and every SINGLE piece was heaven in my mouth. I was very very impressed and happy with that visit. The second time I visited I got the chef who I think owns the place and I only liked 4/16 pieces. Im not really sure what happened there but I plan to head in again for another go because the first visit was so good.

Horrible. I ordered black cod and it tasted old and had a really overpowering fishy flavor because it was not fresh. I should have sent it back. It left a fishy flavor in my mouth after I ate it which is not typical for fresh fish. I have ordered black cod at other good Japanese restaurants and have never had this problem. My Mothers tempera was also not very good because the batter was too thick. There was no flavor. I will not go back to Kisaku.

I had the sushi combo A: miso soup, California rolls, & nigiri sushi. It was ok.Spouse had the tempura udon, he enjoyed the chewiness of the noodle, but the tempura was greasy, not to mention they brought a bowl for the tempura sauce & forgot its sauce. My girl had the veggie curry, which was so-so with lots of eggplant. She had a side of croquette which was very expensive since there was only one piece for $4. The rice for the udon was very good

The relaxing atmosphere of this simple and attractively designed sushi bar will be your first impression when you enter this restaurants welcoming doors. Kisakus fish is fresh and delicious, and the side entrees are unique and tasty. If youre feeling adventurous, sit at the sushi bar and ask for recommendations from the owner. Youll be served a little bit of everything, and you might just discover a new favorite sushi.

In my family we dont usually give 5 stars- were foodies on the East coast who love sushi but can rarely get the good stuff. We came into the sushi bar on a Sunday night for some quality omakase and were blown away. Nakano-san was attentive and extremely personable, and the nigiri spectacular and perfectly arranged to awaken the palette. If you are looking for good omakase and a wonderful night, Kisaku is the place to be.
