We used to frequent a lot of sushi joints. I was never a fan but my girlfriend liked it so I would get whatever non-sushi they had and maybe try a few pieces to see if anything struck my fancy but very little did. This made me believe I didnt like sushi. Then we tried this place. Ken was really awesome at helping me figure out what I liked and didnt like. He is always encouraging and answered all of our questions and explained so much to us. Every time we go in we are greeted with a smile and a few suggestions. Maybe share a story or two. The quality is superb and makes me really happy I didnt give up on sushi. Even non-sushi items such as some of their seasonal soups (never skip on the matsutake soup if its there) or teriyaki are just great. We frequent this place (maybe once every 2 weeks or so) and havent had a bad experience yet. This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle. If you are in the mood for a very relaxed but really well done dinner, I would really encourage you to try this place out.

Perfect. We enjoyed better sushi than the more famous Shiros Sushi, presented in a very beautiful and artistic manor, at far less than that other restaurant. Having lived in Japan, the ambiance of the place struck a chord with me and made me feel like I was overseas again. The chefs a jolly guy and both he and his wife were awesome. They have a lot of seasonal variety beyond sushi, from oden (my favorite) to ramen, depending on what ingredients are available and what time of year it is. My wife is from Japan and she was like a kid on Christmas here.

Been around sushi a long time...on vacation from California and this joint by our VRBO looked like a gem and boy is it! We all said the same thing...best sushi ever! Chef Ken obviously has a connection at the market as his fish is off the chart fresh and quality. I didnt even recognize the Toro it was so white and buttery! Go early or be patient since patrons seem to come at once, but boy will your time be paid with an amazing experience! Wait staff were great, and amazing sake choices too!

This is the best Sushi in the country and Ive been around a bit. Ken is absolutely amazing, he is the only Sushi Chef in the country licensed to teach and train Fugu preparation so he is a treasure. Great authentic Japanese cuisine and done well. If youre looking for Hipster hype and flair you wont find it here, only the real deal.

We just LOVED this sushi restaurant! The owners were incredibly nice and the food and chef were authentic. Its great to get out of the downtown area and visit this food haven. We were so pleased with our visit and left Shiki with full stomachs at a reasonable price. Would definitely love to go back again!

Totally hidden gem of a sushi spot. The inside is quaint and the family staff are wonderful. Truly delicious specials as well; geoduck in morel butter? Would not have expected that! Nice selection of Japanese spirits and great decor. A must for fans of Japanese.

20min till they close and they told us we would not be seated or served. Group of 4 of us. Maybe you should close earlier if your going to stop serving/seating 20 min before you close! Thats very bad business. Will not be returning.

The service, the food, and the atmosphere 10/10! Shiki sashimi is the go to fish here! The texture, flavor, and portion size of the fish is just outstanding! Had an Asian lady waitress who helped us with a wonderful dinner!

Get the Omakase! Super fresh fish and generous cuts. Costs 1/3rd of Shiros for same quality and taste! Ken, the chef seems like a friendly dude. This is now my go-to sushi spot. What a gem! :D

The fish quality is really low. When the Hotate starts to smell like fish, there is certainly something wrong with the quality and freshness. I would not recommend to go here.

Authentic, fresh, great service. Its like walking into Japan. Only reason its not 5 stars is a lot of entitled people who show up to restaurants 25 minutes before closing.

Refused to to serve our group of 4 because it was 25min until they closed. Maybe you should change your hours of operation to 8:30 and not 9 on Sundays. Problem solved.

Shiki is included in my top three Japanese restaurants I love to frequent in Seattle. I love everything about this place and Ken-san is one of my favorite chefs !!!!

Small family business. Sushi was decent, a step up from conveyor belt, but nothing to write home about. Friendly service and occasionally has Japanese beer on tap.

Delicious, fresh fish. Again, dont let the outside fool you. Excellent restaurant. Side note, they put wasabi on several rolls and nigiri which I didnt expect..

This is the best in the city. True Kyoto style and as authentic as being there. Imported ingredients, excellent ambience and a true master of preparation.

If you say you close at 9pm then you should be open until 9pm especially when Google states they are open until 930pm. Thank you for the bad experience ✌

I love their rice bowl that comes with pork cutlet and egg, but the nigiri was so so. I had toro and sockeye salmon, but they were both not that great.

Its not the most inviting but has excellent sushi and one of the only chefs in town that can serve toxic blow fish. Ill try that some day!

We booked a table for 7 people, they gave it to an older asian couple instead. Our kids were starving before we got a table. Food was ok.

Nice but underwhelming. At least its reasonably priced. Very casual, almost Spartan. Far from the best sushi Ive eaten.
