Ive come to realize eating burgers for a large majority of my adult life that "the best burger" is subjective. Just depends how greasy or clean you like it, extra cheesy, extra meaty, extra what ever will float some boats and sink others. GSB is the love child of an In-and-Out Burger and Dicks Burger. A balance of a little messy yet clean ingredients. A happy medium if you will, it wont appeal to the masses but I think where they are at, itll appeal to many. Compact sized burgers with sit down restaurant style pricing may turn quite a bit of folks off. But as an avid food fan - you do get what you pay for. $1 burgers gets you things off a fast food menu, which tasted like the meat has been brined in sodium and often leaving you feel gluttonous and regretful afterwards. For under $10 you can still get a burger, fries, and a drink at GSB which isnt the friendliest budget but its quality that you can taste. Fresh ingredients and a higher quality meat all well rounded in flavor and texture. Crinkle cut fries with dipping sauces brings me back to the childhood days of eating fries at my elementary school. Crispy in texture and plenty of potato in every bite. Im more torn between a 3 or 4 star rating - 3 due to the tough parking situation and higher prices than what you really get. But I love the nostalgic decor and feeling i get when i eat these burgers. I wouldnt make any extra efforts to frequent this place but if im in the area and I want something yummy, Ill be there!

We went during lunchtime and it was crowded. We ordered burger, fries, and milkshakes. We noticed that the people behind us got their order first. We also saw the staff arguing with each other because they mixed up the other orders and could not keep track of who is doing what. It was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen where they are all doing too much and not communicating. The staff was nice to us when we ordered, but they just seemed disorganized. The hamburger was small even though I got the double (2 patties). I could seriously eat two of those double burgers. The food quality was not bad and their fries are actually quite good and crispy. For the two of us getting burgers, fries, and milkshakes, the total was about $30. They do not ask for a tip so I am assuming that the tip is included in the bill which is why the price may seem higher than normal. So for the price alone for what you get, this place does turn me off. Overall I do not think I would return here other than to grab a milkshake during the hot summers when I happen to be biking or walking on the Burke.

My husband and I have been looking forward to trying this place for weeks now. We showed up a few minutes past 11 and found the door was still locked...and all the employees were standing around. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and took a short a walk and came back a few minutes later to find the place was still not open and the emoloyees were still standing around. They had obviously seen us and refused to acknowledge there were customers waiting at the door well past their opening time. This was a horrible first impression and we will not be returning to this business as they do not seem to care about taking good care of their customers.

Not consistent at all. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. One visit I ordered 3 burgers that all turned out WAY overcooked (so overcooked that they were hard - like cardboard). Another visit I got a couple of burgers that were unacceptably undercooked (bloody in middle -- which would be ok for a steakhouse/restaurant burger, but NOT ok for a "fast casual" burger). A couple of other visits, the burgers were well cooked.

Compared to other burger joints, this place is pretty small with very limited parking. It seems to be popular with the locals and the staff is friendly and efficient. More space seems to be dedicated to the kitchen than customer areas, so it is a good place to stop by and pick up a meal on the go during rush hour. The menu is limited but focused. The food is fresh and good.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. I agree with other posters - the food is good, but not great. The fries are crispy, and that earns them a few more points. Their posted food safety rating caused suspicion, but I went for it anyways. Ive tried this location and checked it off my list. Ill keep looking for a good burger place.

Burger was excellent but very small for $5.50. I dont eat fries or other sides and most burgers fill me up, this left me craving more but $11.00 for two burgers two steep for lunch. They want $1.50 for more toppings that should be standard as well so your small burger could cost you $7.00 leaving you still hungry.

Love the simplicity of the menu. Two meat, one meat, or no meat (vegetarian). Staff is super friendly and this is a very easy walk from Seattle Childrens Hospital. Jones Soda fountain is a nice touch and sitting on the patio offers a nice relaxing place to enjoy your burgers.

Great Burger. Good fries. Decent beer. I was surprised by these guys. Really happy with my meal overall. Yes the burgers are small but they are very well made. Nice customer service. Cool modern design to the building although not much room. Loud-ish trendy music.

Most of the poor reviews here mention the price. These are organic grass fed burgers. Go to Dicks if you want the cheapest meat from the saddest cows. Make sure to get grilled onions. And make sure to get an order of fries per person, seriously, you dont want to share.

This place is ok because the hamburgers were good but the milkshakes are way too sugary. But, the milkshakes are addictive. Also, the restaurant doesnt have enough space to fit a lot of people in the restaurant. Thats why I think this restaurant is ok.

Amazing fries, and you can feel good about eating the burgers because they use high quality grass-fed beef, but I find the meat to be a bit tough. If they could somehow change their grind/cut to make the meat more tender, this would probably be 5 stars.

Grass-fed beef makes a tasty burger with the bun perfectly crisped. French fries which have real flavor and dont even need ketchup! Gotta love it when doing the right thing and not having to compromise on taste come together! Thats State Burger!

The burger was neatly assembled and placed in a cute brown wrapper, but the patty tasted bland and was cooked from frozen. The fries were crisp but tasted of the oil they were cooked in. Nice concept but poor execution.

Nothing special, tasted like a frozen patty good on a grill, much like a cafeteria burger. Fries were good, but an OKAY safety rating is not a good sign of quality when you have a menu consisting of 1 item.

The Staff was very nice. The fries were very good. The burger grass feed beef was over cooked and tuff, I think if the cook would reduce the cooking time it might be better. It seem to be very lean meat.
