location - excellent with great view on WA lake service - worst that i had ever had in last 6 years ( and i have been to this bistro once a month or so... this year...because of oysters and chicken liver entree ...like that one unhealthy choice)....always enjoyed the good ...not best... service... this time i was stupid enough to invite my friends for my bday... a young... lady... was serving...if you can name it serving...she looked like she was distressed with smth... slow, unfriendly ....and we all get used to bad habit of having happy bday song or/and some attention to your persona on bday at each and every dinner place ON YOUR BDAY... this time....no congrats and happy bday song... it is not that i needed it....just nice to have...she seemed to be very sloppy in dress and how she brought drinks!!!! first order??!!!! - carrying glasses in the hand with fingers in the drink... on the first order???... then....on every order.....she was repeating every word of order ...making it like we dont understand what is what... and at the end when she was starting to explain desert menu...saying that rum is a drink - not a cake...well... ...... we did not pay attention to her attitude...strong one... and just had a nice evening outdoor...just having quite nice time with my friends... but.... service of this lady... left huge distaste in my mouth the waitress was really unfriendly to every party she was serving...and eyebrows were up not only at our table...however, she became nicer when bill was going on and on... its a pity that i wont go back again for my chicken liver with a double shot of whisky... in occasion...for now id exclude this place from where i go...in east side... food - well, i cant say anything about dinner dishes.... as i was having oysters and chicken liver... i heard that food is exceptional from many of my friends...however, i tried halibut, steak, salads, other cooked fish,soups... at this place...it is ok...it is not that i wanted to order any (except soup and salads and OYSTERS!!!!) again... but i might be spoiled with french and italian cuisine... in chicago, ny, san francisco, and seattle... what also did surprise me that there is no choice for any bottle of nice rum (reserve or 3-5yrs at least)...plenty of decent but extremely high priced cabs or shardonnay or riesling.... no wonder i go for Whisky at this place... but for such pretend to be kirkland place - itd be great to have nice reserve rum choices...we are on the lake...and rum is the choice of the sailor, isnt it?

We made a reservation for 1:15 PM for a window table. When we arrived on time, we were told we had to wait about 30 minutes, even though we saw there were a couple of tables near the restaurant entrance next to the window. We asked about it and got seated. 10 minutes passed and no one came to us at all. I asked the host when she was passing by: "is anyone going to serve us?" She went and talked to a waiter. A few minutes later, the host came back and took our order herself. I guess its because we were sitting at the "bar area", but the bar was not busy at all! At the end, we had to flag the bartender for our check while he was passing by. He said YES, but then disappeared forever. Finally, we asked the host for our check while she was passing by again. My husband (being a gentleman) still left 12% tip, which is a big joke to me! But I chose to drop it at that. With the high price of their food, this is the most disorganized, ridiculous, "high-end" restaurant ever! There are many other restaurants with great service & food here on the eastside, so we will for sure take our business elsewhere!

Excellent service, fantastic staff. We took our favorite gal-pal here for her birthday. The service, provided by the sweet Orlando, was top-notch. He was attentive, knowledgeable and offered us suggestions for complementary pairings so we could all enjoy tasting each others dishes. The views were fantastic, the atmosphere relaxed, but still fun for lunch. Mostly suits, which is fine by us, as we were looking for a very un-kid friendly place to escape Mommyhood for a while. We ordered the goat cheese salad and had the lamb burger, madame and the fish stew - all were delish, even though I swore Id only eat half, I cleaned my plate. It was that good. For me, Kirkland waterfront has always been hit or miss. Restaurants seems to come and go - I HATED bin on the lake and will never return, but Le Grande is a spot I will not only recommend, but return to for various events. Great job guys.

There really is nothing grand about this place. The food is just okay. First bread came out, and it was laughable. It was like one of those par-baked loves you can buy at the store, and the serving for four of us was tiny. No one asked if we would like more. Considering this is suppose to be a French restaurant, we expected to bread to be much better. The service was so-so. Our server was friendly enough, but there were times when the service was sooooo slow. I ordered the half chicken with pommes frites. Nothing memorable about the dish whatsoever. The chicken was on the dry side, and the french fries were not hot, in fact they were more like plain old American fries as opposed to pommes frites. Our whole table was underwhelmed by dinner, so didnt feel like we even wanted to take a chance on dessert. Each of us said we would not bother going back.

Wonderful food. Great service. Very unique drinks and ice cream. I had the Rosemary Mule and it was a great devaiton from a standard Moscow mule. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was impressive. While there were only four, each was massive and the homade cocktail sauce was thick and came with the necessary horesradish kick. My main course was LEntrecote. A perfectly cooked medium rare with a robust bordelaise sauce. Special mention for the roasted Yukon gold potatoes with a French fry finish. Think scrumptious roasted Yukon gold potatoes that are finished fried to crispy perfection. They were almost better than the steak. For dessert I had blueberry lemon thyme ice cream. It was a delightful finish. Creamy and rich without being overly sweet. My only complaint would be the portion to price ratio. However, I throughly enjoyed every bite.

After traveling from Puyallup to Kirkland hoping for a wonderful evening, our first red flag was the VERY rude valet kid. Deciding to not let that dampen our expected nice evening. We were seated right away because the place was pretty much empty other than a couple other tables. Once seated the service was very slow. It took almost ten minutes to get my glass of wine and we had to ask our server to find out what happened to the martini that was ordered at the same time. He returned 10 minutes AFTER that with the martini. We found the food "adequate"...that was a long way to drive for overpriced "adequate". Our evening was wrapped up with another encounter with our smug rude valet demanding his $5.00. Would we come back?? Absolutley Not we have rude smug valets and slow service of "adequate" food much closer to home.

Dining at Le Grand Bistro is like dining at a good bistro in Paris. From the amazing view, excellent food and wine list, dinner here is Paris in the Northwest. I had the french onion soup which was a rich savory mix of onions, country bread and toasted Gruyere cheese. Delicious rendition of a French classic. We also had oysters with migonette, cocktail and fresh horseradish. Another tasty starter. For entrees we had rib eye steak, truffle mash potatoes, shallots, red wine sauce and a portion of frites. Steak cooked a perfect medium rare, great flavor and frites very tasty. We also had the fish (sea bass) special with gnocchi, spinach, wild mushrooms and a saffron beurre blanc. Super tasty. Service was friendly and relaxed. Wines are very reasonable and a large selection. You cant go wrong with this place.
