My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Madronas Red Cow Feb 20, 2014. The food was very tasty, well-presented and made up of high quality ingredients. The service was good -- prompt, well informed, courteous but not intrusive or gushing. This is a traditional French brasserie. I liked that the menu was so clearly presented and well organized. Prices and portions were reasonable. Also liked the attractive but non-fussy decor. I just thought everything was well conceived and executed here. My husband had the moules frites (mussels and french fries) and I had a hanger steak and fries. We shared a Little Gem lettuce salad with a delicious champagne dressing and wonderfully tender and fresh lettuce leaves and skinny green beans. The dishes often come with a choice of sauce. The mussels come with either the traditional wine and thyme broth or with a curry sauce. The four or so choices of steak (including rib eye, New York strip, filet mignon) each offer four choices of sauce, which is served on the side. I had the creamy horseradish. I asked for my steak "medium," but it came on the rare side. But Im flexible on this, so it was fine. My only complaint would be the noise. This is not a place where its easy to have a conversation. But brasseries probably arent intended to be intimate places. We will return! I recommend it!

Another Ethan Stowell restaurant that doesnt disappoint. This one is a little more classic French steakhouse. The charcuterie is all prepared and cured in house. We tried the head cheese, beef tongue, and smoked veal breast. All very delicious down to the homemade pickled vegetables and croutons. The frisée salad was classic and good, but could have use a touch more acid and less fat. The steaks were great and cooked very well, albeit served a bit closer to room temperature than we would have liked. We understand the meat has to rest and the kitchen is busy, but they should have been re-fired in the broiler prior to service. Be mindful that they cook their steaks to true steakhouse temperature and not your everyday restaurant. Medium rare is a true MR and probably closer to rare than most people would enjoy. Would probably give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 but would round up.

We initially went to Red Cow to celebrate a friends anniversary, and it has since become our favorite spot to celebrate special occasions. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Everything is melt in your mouth delicious, and I personally recommend the rib eye. The food itself is an interesting blend of steakhouse and French Cuisine, and a great way to expand your pallet. The wine selection is limited, however everything is chosen to compliment their rotating menu. They have a full bar, but it is not a traditional walk up style. The bar seats offer a great view of the kitchen and are prized seating. My wife and I have had nothing but stellar experiences here, I would give them six stars if I could.

The Red Cow Burger Frites is a solid performer. The burger was plump and juicy, and the "white cheddar, bacon, tomato, caramelized sweet onion, and chili aioli" all complimented each other wonderfully on a crisp bun. The burger is a mouthful and absolutely delicious. The housemade charcuterie is a unique experience. I had the Pâté de Campagne, Chicken Liver Mousse (pairs GREAT with the burger frites), and Beef Tongue (which was thinly sliced and i believe cured).Theyre definitely worth trying if you never have.

Simply incredible, my wife and I stopped by for simple appetizers and could not stop eating. We had the beef tongue and it was by far the best we had ever had. Then we moved to the marrow... OMG! OH I forgot about the oysters... we had two orders of those also. We both have had some horrible experiences and Seattle French restaurants and this by far made up for any bad experiences anywhere else. We are now trying to find every reason to go back and bring friends.

Nice enough place for a quick bite to eat, we went with the hamburger but not the best range of beers on tap which was a bit of a shame. The place was quite empty when we visited for drinks and the staff didnt seem as focused on the customers as they could have been. If you are Madrona its worth checking out but have to say there are better places to drink and eat in the area. We went across the road to the Bottlehouse and had quite a nice time.

My husband and I were treated by some old friends visiting. It was a first for all of us. We had 11 items off the menu family style. Everything including full service was impeccable. Highlights Chicken liver mousse, foie gras, roasted marrow bone, beef tartare and braised Shortrib. We enjoyed our experience for over 2.5 hrs and still savoring the next day.

This is s small place with excellent food and professional service. Not cheap. Best for small groups or couples, I would think. Reservations recommended. Several beef steak options served with first class fries. Otherwise, the menu is not huge, but very well considered. We will be back to this classy spot for a grown-up night out.

Great steaks :) Somewhat casual but nice design and smooth service. Mussels, charcuterie, steak tartare, etc were great. Sides were also very tasty. Best Fries in Seattle hands down. Wines were reasonable. A bit out of the way in Madrona but well worth a trip.

Satisfyingly good food. The ambiance and menu have just the right amount of upscale that youll want to dress up just a bit but not feel out of place. When I bring my young daughter, we ask to eat at their outdoor tables. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

Enjoyed a great steaks and muscles on what seemed to be an unusually quiet Saturday night. Staff were great, really accommodating and had great recommendations for everything. A bit on the pricy side worth it.

Delicious food! Everything we tried was perfect. Start with a cheese plate with tartare, move to a filet mignon, and finish with some fernet and creme brulee..

Typical Ethan Stowell restaurant but a little more casual. Price is still high but the cuts are very good. Small and quaint so reserve ahead.

The best burger in Seattle. Period. Not the cheapest, but the highest quality ingredients, best taste and most satisfying burger in town.
