Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Woodbridge, VA I wish they had a separate rating for food and service. While I would give a three star for food, the service and ambiance was less than a one star. We have eaten many times at this restaurant before but suspect it maybe under new management because of the degradation in service. If not they need to transition to a new serving staff and perhaps clean up when the restaurant closes rather than in the morning. Assuming they are cleaning up. The service and ambiance has deteriorated to the point that we will not go back again. Today (12 May 2015) we arrived about noon. We were met by a blonde Caucasian server who took us to our seats and pretty much dropped off the menus before we even reached the table and said we could look them and make a decision. She quickly went over to watch TV. She did even not ask us what we would like to drink. While we looked over the menu we noticed a strong distasteful chemical odor with a strong musk smell of dirty carpet. The smell was so strong that it permeated the entire area that we were in. We looked at the menu a while and waited for the server to come over and ask about our decision. In short, we decided that the odor was too strong and that in addition to being ignored by the server we should leave. When we did leave, our server gave us a cavalier “goodbye” and continued to be engaged with the other servers. As a result, we left and went to a Thai restaurant. We were greeted with a smile, treated well and asked what we would like to drink. The food was excellent as well as the service and ambiance.

We had an awful experience tonight at the Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse! For starters we ordered sushi and the samon was discolored and not good, when we told our waitress she said she would get us a new one which never happened. My husband ordered chicken livers as his appetizer instead of shrimp which he has always done which the waitress had no problem with. When the chef came out and my husband told him he had ordered chicken liver first the chef said they didnt have it then he said it wasnt an option for and appetizer and hadnt been. It is still in the menu that you havenjoy the option of shrimp or chicken liver as an appetizer. The veggies were still hard and the portions we got when ordering one meat were the same as what the others guest got who ordered the combination meats. It was just an awful experience all the way around. We are regular guest and the service the last few times we went wasnt great but tonight sealed the deal that we will not be returning. The icing on the cake was when my husband asked to speak to a manager and was told the boss wasnt in tonight so there was nobody for us to talk to and also since the boss wasnt in "that is why the fish for the sushi is older and discolored. The boss wasnt here tonight to put out fresh." I would no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Food was outstanding. I ordered chicken, rice and vegetables, my wife ordered the same except with steak from the teppan-yaki menu. They do have a separate sit down area where you can get food from the kitchen at but if you want the excitement and show of the open grill in front of you, you have to order from the teppan-yaki menu. All of our food was fantastic and the chef was very skilled. His tricks were good, not great but if youve been to any teppanyaki place before, youve probably seen it all already. No surprises there. The total for both our meals was $37. Expect to pay at least that much because our meals were average price wise and we had water to drink, no appetizers or dessert. We went on a Tuesday night and there were less than ten other people there. It was very quiet and the only real noise you could hear was the chefs. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and conservative. It is a very nice place for groups though if you have more than ten a group, you will have a hard time fitting around the grills. Overall, I was completely satisfied and quite impressed. I will eat here again. Neither of us got sick after so Im not sure if we got lucky or what but no problems there. Great place!

Tokyo Japanese Steak House gets an A+. We had a 75th birthday celebration today (4/2/17) and called them at the last minute because the people at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse refuse to accommodate our party after we made a reservation weeks ago. Tokyo was great from start to finish. My family and I have enjoyed this restaurant several times and they are always on point. This was my first time being in their party room and it was nice, they was warm, welcoming, and caring. The cooks made or party special. They allowed us to bring music and our cakes. We had a grand time. We will plan other events with Tokyo Japanese Steak House. Great job, thank you for helping us make our love one feel special and enjoy her 75th birthday celebration. Everyone had fun, laughing, parting, good music and great food. We will be back with more events. Thank You Tokyo for sharing your place with us. This is a beautiful restaurant and a great place for families and friends. If you need an event room call Toyko Japanese Steak house, it holds 40 people very nice. The room is private and intimate. Great Job today. The staff was awesome and amazing. The food is always good, today it was great.

Looking for a sushi place in Woodbridge so my wife and I tried this place, which was definitely a mistake. We started with a hot sake which was warmed up rubbing alcohol, but then again most hot sake isnt the best. We then ordered age tofu, which came out as saucwless deep fried tofu puffs with no flavor. They may well have been funnel cake at a fair. The soup was a bland miso, almost nothing to it, and the salad tasted as if the dressing was made with hand soap. My wife got two rolls, salmon and avocado and the baked lasagna roll. The baked lasagna was pretty flavorless and the salmon roll was ok, if made by a kindergartner. I had the chicken yaki soba, which after two bites I noticed was cooked al dente if being nice, semi uncooked crunchy noodles if being honest. I hate this review seems overly harsh, but I love to eat and I was unable to actually eat any course we had. Maybe their teppanyaki is good, we did not try it, but we also have no plans on round 2.

The food was amazing as was the teppanyaki chef. The waitress was pretty good. The show was a lot of fun. It is on the pricey side but if you eat at the movie theater across the parking then you will think it was a good deal. ;) We went in at around 6 on a Monday night but didnt eat until around 7. They werent busy. In the gift shop they advertise a coupon if you come in on a weekday. There was no date listed. We asked about it but the server didnt know anything about it. She said she would find out. I saw her talking to someone else and asked if she had found out anything as we were leaving. She went and asked but said they werent doing it anymore. When I asked her why it was still up and that they should honor it she just repeated that they werent doing it anymore. The fried rice were the best Ive ever had. My two year old wouldnt quit eating! My whole family loved the experiance except for the service.
