Went to Calypso (one of my favorite places to go) today. I have to say that it was beyond upsetting. The service AND the food was more than a disappointment. My friend and I got there shortly after 3. It was busy and the wait was about 15 mins so we decided to go to the bar to grab a couple drinks. As we sat down, the hostess informed us that she had a table come open outside which was great! We sit down and wait for about 10-15 mins as the server walks past us 4 times with no greeting let alone asking us for our drinks. The hostess finally comes over to ask us if we had been helped yet and afterwards, she sends over the server. The server asks us for our drinks and if we were ready to order which we were due to the fact that we sat there starring at the menu for almost 20 mins at this point. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals. The drinks came within a reasonable amount of time and were ok. Not really with $8.50 a drink but they werent horrible. The appetizer took another 15 minutes or so. When it finally arrived at the table... the portion was way less than we expected. Two crab cakes about a half dollar in size. However it did taste really good. About 20 minutes later MY meal arrives and my friends did not. I waited another 10 minutes for his meal to arrive and the excuse was that crab legs come from the raw bar and burgers come from a different kitchen. My food was cold but the time his food came and when I went to pull the meat from the shell, it was stuck inside from being over cooked. I asked to speak to the manager and he acted as if he could care less. Offered to make me another pound of crab legs but offered no other options. I mean who cares that I was hungry and had been there over and hour a half, that I was with a friend thats service was horrible too... We paid for the drinks and left. I am so saddened at how awful this entire experience was. Calypso has let me down and the lack of care today is enough to keep me from coming back.

I went to Virginia to visit my girlfriend. Her cousin ended up taking us out to this restaurant.we sat for nearly 10 minutes without anyone greeting us. So I got up and tried to flag someone down. Then we waiting another 10 minutes for the drinks Every time we needed something I had to track Down the hostess or another waitress Im in the service industry myself but the amount of times I had to get up to track down our waitress or just anyone in general I even had to ask about our missing crabcake. The food took an unusually long time. We were stuck at this restaurant for nearly two hours and everyone in my party just wanted to leave. The seafood was fresh and flavorless due to (they just boiled shrimp in a pot with potatoes. I ended up complaining to the manger which was a first for me usually I just bite my tongue and leave but I felt someone needed to hear the reason why I wouldnt be returning. The manager tried arguing with me that a 4 oz crabcake requires 40 minutes to cook. I ended up going to Watermans just right Down the road the very next night and my dining experience was far better, the food was full of flavor and we were not ignored buy our waitress. Maybe I just showed up on the wrong night or maybe it is just a tourist trap with bad food and drinks who knows. I would recommend that you look else where for your next meal.

Searched Yelp for local places to eat and go to for Happy Hour. SO glad i chose this place!! Deals were fantastic and food was ON POINT. I had a 1/2 dozen oysters and a dozen "sweet heat" wings. Oysters were super fresh and were great, the wing flavor was great and size was good! I can put away a lot of food and my meal filled me up pretty good! My girlfriend is a vegetarian and usually has crappy options, especially at beach-towns that are heavy in seafood fare. She got the veggie panini. Be forewarned, when you get it it looks overcooked, but she absolutely LOVED it. She said it was unique and really delicious!! The customer service was great! Amanda was our server, super attentive, never had to get her attention and very very friendly and personable! They also have a pretty good drink selection! 10/10!!!

having recently moved from San Diego, my husband and I have been taking in every seafood restaurant we can! strolling along the beach this Thursday afternoon, we stopped in, having read the previous negative review, (neither of us had the raw oysters), and decided to stop anyway, not having high expectations. we were super surprised!!!! I got the crab stuffed flounder with garlic mashed potatoes and my husband got the parmesan encrusted mahi mahi with lobster risotto. we couldnt stop eating off one anothers plate, they were both so damn good!!! lol. weve been to several (much) higher priced seafood restaurants since weve been here in the last 2 weeks, and this place was as good as any of them!

Walked in and right back out. We went in around 11:15, this morning. The place was deserted, and my wife had to yell for someone to come help us. When the hostess finally came out, she asked my wife if she needed something. I dont know, how about a table and some food? Im not saying we needed some big apology. But itd be nice to not be treated like we were putting them out for coming in during business hours. I took my son into their bathroom and one of the toilets still had poop in it from the night before. The next stall had brown stuff smeared all over the toilet paper dispenser. I wish I had taken pictures, but it was pretty gross and I just wanted to get my kid out of there.

We ordered some drinks and food, and while it was good it wasnt amazing. When we went there werent many people there so we received everything very quickly. The prices for drinks, specifically frozen drinks, were significantly higher than other places we went to in this area, and it isnt like it was more expensive because they gave you better liquor or a larger drink. Food prices were similar to other restaurants in the area. The staff seemed standoffish, but Im sure this isnt always the case. Depending on where youre seated the view of the beach, if you can see it, is very beautiful.

My boyfriend and I came here during Happy Hour last week. Our waitress was Amanda and she was PHENOMENAL. Our food came out hot, tasty, and quick. We went around 4:00 PM on a thursday and the wings were .55 cents a piece (in orders of 6 or 12). I also tried the oysters (also at .55 a piece in orders of 6 or 12). It was my first time trying them, and they were delicious, but the texture just wasnt for me. My boyfriend got a big burger and fries for $12 I believe, and he loved that as well. We will definitely be returning here. This is a locals spot in a tourist trap area!

Quintessential beach atmosphere, but seats were comfortable and tables clean, excellent albeit short menu, prices are great. No vegan options but I didnt specifically ask what dishes they might adapt. Unobstructed view of beach and the water, wait staff are friendly and quick, food came out within twenty five minutes and was outstanding. Portions are modest but not stingy. A young musician with an excellent voice named Josh Ferlough (unsure about spelling) came out as our meal was ending. The "Mediterranean" was excellent. I will return to try the "Chesapeake"
