Excellent southern comfort food and Roanokes only roadhouse! The Coffee Pot is a slice of southern history carved out of the old days of Roanoke in the 1930s. This historic landmark lies on what used to be a country road leading into the city from southwestern Roanoke County. The best item on the menu is easily the house smoked pulled pork BBQ with homemade BBQ sauces and secret recipe coleslaw. The lunch buffet is offered Monday through Friday. It often includes a generous choice of southern dishes including, but not limited to, pulled pork, steak, fried chicken, meatloaf, green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes as well as a full salad bar with at least one soup and dessert. The staff is friendly, but also rough around the edges in a good way. It lends some charm to the environment of a roadhouse. Dont expect the kind of treatment that you would get at a fine dining experience. Expect employees that get to learn you and your tastes while providing a bit of humor and sarcasm. This place is definitely not for folks who cant take a joke. Food service is prompt and courteous of your time. Not only does this roadhouse serve up great history, food, and service, but it also serves as a music venue. From hard rock to karaoke and rap to country, there is almost always an entertaining evening activity at the Coffee Pot. Keep in mind that the entire roadhouse is considered smoking with the exception of the one small table in the foyer. This appeals to the usual clientele, but those sensitive to it might take issue. Overall, the Coffee Pot is an excellent southern tradition. Stop in and try the BBQ! You wont be disappointed!

Disappointing. Always wanted to try their buffet, never have, never will after experience on Wednesday with my elderly, disabled parents. SMOKING allowed inside without an adequately separated dining area near the buffet that people severely allergic to tobacco smoke cannot tolerate. The female bartender seemed quite arrogant & rude informing us that we could eat outside & the nonsmoking section was the tiny room with the lights off. Too bad this rate cant be way below 0. Definitely speaks volumes about the owners character. What a waste of time & gas. I had no idea it was still necessary to call & ask if it was a non smoking restaurant since the states non smoking laws have gone into effect.

I agree with others that the Coffee Pot is not interested in supporting the local bands financially; the management seems to want something for nothing. If you played for the "door" there, you probably wouldnt have enough to buy a decent meal elsewhere. The dont properly advertise for their musicians/bands IF they advertise at all. The service is a lot less than desirable. Bartenders dont pay attention; too busy yacking with someone else or on the phone. Tips are a joke; why leave one for lousy service. Its definitely not like it use to be.

Its an iconic Roanoke roadhouse and many famous bands have played here over the years. (Willie Nelson, Country Joe McDonald, Larry Raspberry and the Highsteppers, Richie Havens,, many more.) The photos on their walls tell an awesome story of the talent that has played there! However, in recent times, the drinks are weak, the place is rather empty, and weve arrived on a Friday night only to hear "we cancelled the band." Id love to see it turn back around, and will revise this review when I see progress!

Service sucks all the bartender want to do is run around be loud and talk to people. Plus ladys if you go in there with your boyfriend more than likely all the bartenders will flirt with him in front of your face and rub there hands all over him. The manger on duty thinks theres nothing wrong with that. So to the owner you need new management and staff.

Didnt know what credit card they took and turned it on me becuse i asked what would have happened if I hadnt had another method of payment. Dont frreakin shame me because you screwed up. You picked the wrong person to screw with. I probably WOULD have been the best tip you had from the riff raff clientelle that was in there.

Great old school hangout. Food is very underrated! The Coffee Pot gets a bad rap but its one of the last places of its kind in the area. Dont be intimidated by the atmosphere its a great place to have a beer, a smoke and a great meal! Dont miss out.

Every weekday they have a buffet lunch which is pretty good, but if youre not there for the buffet lunch you should avoid the place unless youre into catching something itchy from their clientele.

Ive worked entertainment here for 15 years or so with Rocky Top Karaoke. Ive never had a bad meal here and I absolutely adore cutting up with the regulars and employees! ❤

Pretty chill place, open mic thursdays is great and a 5 dollar sub is crucial. Manager seems to be a nice guy. Could use some younger employees though.
