I am pretty sure this coffee shop hates men. I once applied for work there, in fact, when the manager treated me with disdain and actually said something to the effect of, "Mostly just women apply here." I know that isnt true because I work currently in a coffee shop that employs men and women based on their competence, and because of Lifts location I can say with fair certainty theyve turned away a number of men in order to give women a "fair chance." Im a feminist. I support equality of the sexes in everything that I do. But hating men is unacceptable, no matter what the circumstance. I am not bitter about being turned down for a job there because I later ate at Lift a couple of times. Both times the women were short with me. The second time, a barista actually looked my girlfriend up and down - twice - as if she were sizing her up! We spent over twenty dollars on a single meal and the girls served me a flat Italian soda (which is supposed to be carbonated soda water and syrup). It tasted like syrup and flat tap water. The food was actually okay, but nothing special. It came out hot, tasted good. Because of the nature of my mistreatment at Lift, I have to say Im "voting with my dollars" on this one. I wont dine where I am discriminated against.

I dont normally write reviews...at all, but this place was SO AMAZING i just couldnt keep it all to myself. The atmosphere is super comfortable and friendly, the staff is hip and knowledgeable, and the food and drinks are worth every penny! My favorites would be the Turkey, Apple, and Brie panini and the Funny Honey panini with my always order of black coffee. They have a great selection of coffees, enough verity for everyone to be left satisfied! If i could give it more than 5 stars i would.

My roommate and I both agree that Lift has some of the best drinks; my personal favorite is a nice iced chai latte. Their paninis are great as well, and the decor is very cute. The staff is friendly and attentive, and my only quibble would be that theres only one location open all the way downtown--although this might also be a good thing (for my wallet, that is), given that Id go there every day if I could.

Lift is definitely my favorite coffee shop in Richmond. They have the exact comfy, cozy atmosphere that I look for in a city cafe. I have had several of their coffee drinks and they never disappoint, and their croissant breakfast sandwiches are amazing. I can always bring friends and family here and know that we will have a good experience.

In Richmond for a wedding and wanted to check out a local cafe before heading back home. Great shop to check out! My latte was awesome and sandwich was amazing (brie, honey, apple, and egg). So happy we found this place! Made the trip to Richmond extra special. Ps the granola is probably the best Ive had before.

I used to go here fairly often when I lived close by. The food and coffee is excellent. However, the staff attitude sometimes felt aloof and its pretty expensive. But, I did keep coming back because it was good. From the other reviews, it seems that not everyone had this negative staff experience.

Our only sidewalk café and my go-to downtown coffee and tête-a-tête meeting spot. Beans sourced with local roasters and very well brewed. Cozy room with high ceilings indoors, bright decor with original paintings, bar and window seating. Love the peanut butter almond milk smoothie!

Great atmosphere, absolutely love the Latte here, and the raspberry and brie crossaint combined with the Latte encapsulates the perfect lazy Sunday breakfast. Additionally, Lift is where the classic angel wings Richmond photo is taken. Lift has my favorite coffee in Richmond

I travel a lot... A LOT! and its hard to find a good local coffee shop. This is one of the better coffee shops Ive been to in a while. The coffee was good, the staff was cute and friendly, and they had a good selection of snacks, food, and drinks. Overall, awesome.

Good rose water tea and I like that they always seem to have some apple turnovers that are vegan (and very good.) Id give five stars if there were more vegan baked goods....they obviously know theres a demand, so why not? Please, Lift!!

Very friendly staff greeted us and the gentleman helping us was very patient as we waited for our children to order. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the back patio. The yogurt parfait was yummy as was my feta, spinach, egg sandwich.

The venue was very homey and comfortable, could be here for hours! Food was also delicious but it was a little long wait to get food. Also parking was difficult, and not located in the best part of town.

This hip little coffee shop in downtown Richmond is a really great place to work thanks to their ample electric sockets, good music and great coffee. Their light roast before 8am is a good pick-me-up.

Quality coffee close to downtown, a really cute little shop with a huge menu for breakfast for lunch and the best (and least syrup and sugar filled) pumpkin spice latte of all time during the fall.

Great place to get coffee on a nice sunny day. Sitting outside and watch people walk by while sipping on your coffee. Its not just drinking coffee, but drink with contemplation.

They made it clear that they did not want me to return. TERRIBLE service and even worse coffee. They dont list food prices for good reason - they are expensive!

I had a caramel latte and a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. Both were delicious and the people were very nice. I will come back here again.

The coffee tastes like soap. Ive been here many, many times over the years, and recently the quality has taken a nosedive.

Iced coffee is same price as regular coffee - ideal for a summer morning. Their new crepes are delicious...and gluten free!
