I will say the service was a little slow even though there werent too many customers at the time. However, they were very friendly and answered all my questions. They has a nice vegetarian and vegan selection. As a vegan, I was impressed. There are not a lot of places around here that have a good amount of selection for me. I had the falafel salad. It has this delicious pickled concoction on it. It was pickled cucumbers, carrots, cabbage and not sure what else. But it was soooooo good. And yes, it was more dill and not sweet. We also had hummus and Baba ghanoush. Both were delicious and also vegan. We also ordered a few rice stuffed peppers for the table that is vegan and we all enjoyed those as well. For a drink, I had their pomegranate iced tea, and it was very good, not very sweet and not sour. I was happy to hear they had one vegan dessert. They were these nut cookies. Not the best thing Ive ever tasted but they were good. They had a big selection of desserts and salads and such that you could take home. I forgot to mention their beet salad. It is pickled as well and very good. I am a huge beet fan. Not bad for prices also, just over 100 for 4 people including a few desserts and snacks. I think Ive been thorough enough!

I went for 4 stars out of 5 simply because it is not "fine" dinning but that is not a reason to avoid this great little find. This combination dinning spot, carryout, and market is a surprise gem in a nondescript strip mall. There is not a bad meal on the menu and everything is flavorful and genuine Turkish-Mediterranean fare. The Turkish coffee and tea are prepared in the authentic style. The surprise item on the menu is the Turkish breakfast which is simple, hearty, and rustic. All of the standard items do not disappoint. The assortment of packaged Turkish candies, delight, home made baklava (a couple of assortments), cookies, etc are a great treat. The grocery carries teas, coffee, olive oil, candies, grains, and other dry staples of a Turkish kitchen. The refrigerated offerings vary in meats and cheeses. Pomegranate juice and fruit sodas are available as well. Friendly and attentive service from a genuinely nice family. Turkish music videos play regularly but kept at "atmosphere" levels and is not loud and obtrusive.

The food is delicious!!! Ive had their souvlaki, lamb, hummus, tabouleh, tzatziki, and sigara boregi (phyllo dough filled with feta). Everything was amazing! The tzatziki was the best that Ive ever had!! Normally I dont like lamb, but theirs was seasoned perfectly and was very tender. The only downside to Smyrna is that the owner, Eyup, likes to talk. A lot. Especially about pomegranate juice. But Smyrna does have the best price on pomegranate juice! Regardless, Eyup and Nurjan (his wife) are both exceptionally friendly and really try to make you feel comfortable and at home. They food is definitely worth trying!!

Ive lived in King George, VA for 4 years, but I just tried Smyrna today. I ordered the Lamb Kofte Kebab and Profiterol for dessert. The serving was very generous. I think the dish is sized to feed 2 people, but I had the entire thing to myself. The price was fair. I really enjoyed the lamb. It was prepared perfectly. It reminded me of the kebabs I had while on deployment in Iraq. The bulgur pilaf was also delicious. Its just a shame that I did not try Smyrna sooner, because I will be moving away in just a couple of weeks. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean style cuisine.

Used to love this the salads there. I usually just got the plain salad (I cant remember what its called, but its the second one on the menu). Even though there was no meat, it was delicious and filling. It used to have pickled veggies, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes... and the dressing was delicious. Today I purchased 2, as I always used to do - one for dinner one for lunch tomorrow. Well to my disappointment there was no pickled veggies or olives, and the flavors just werent there. I was very disappointed.

If your an experienced mediterranean food eater youll find this place mediocre at best. I believe theyre Turks not Greeks. Portions are smallish and service pretty much nonexistant. I was so looking forward to eating there; I dont think Ill go back. The spanakopita was ice cold on the inside. I waited for 10 minutes to get a drink refill, never did and I was the only customer in the place. I can do better at home and the food would be hot.

I wish I still lived in Fredericksburg so I could eat here...was a family favorite of ours. Such a friendly, welcoming staff and we love the food. Id recommend the Manisa kebab. My grandma swore by the Spanakopita. Fresh and delicious, you leave feeling good about yourself and the food you ate. Dont forget to pick up some pomegranate juice before you leave!

I called these guys asking if they served vegetarian/vegan entrees, and was told that asking a question like that was similar to asking if they served water. Wonderful service and friendly atmosphere. The food is DELICIOUS! I highly recommend anyone in or passing through the area to stop in this authentic establishment!

Agree with minimal to no customer service was the only one there my drink ran out halfway through mediocre meal never stopped to see if my food was OK or if I needed anything else. Seemed like it was a bother I elected to sit down. I love Mediterranean food, Ill not return.

The food was a bit bland and they wouldnt substitute anything for the flat bread or pilaf (I cant have gluten). Then when asked about what was in one of their side dishes she said "I dont know, thats how we buy it". The store side is interesting but I wont be going back.
