Three buddies and I went on a weekend camping trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC. Surprisingly, on a Saturday night in Orange, VA not much was open so we wandered over to Happy Gardens. Given the fact that this is a random Chinese restaurant in the middle of nowhere Virginia, we did not have great expectations. The atmosphere was classic cheesy, but the man (Jimmy) who owns it is so nice (hence the two stars v. one star). Between the four of us, we ordered four dishes and it was more than enough for four grown men. It was not the best Chinese food, but still edible.

Didnt get the chance to taste the food because the customer service is beyond terrible! I call to place an order and all the prices he listed were about 2 dollars more per item than in their menu. After they gave me a total, I rechecked the menu and repriced everything... There was an 8 solar difference between the two items I had ordered. So I called back told the guy my findings and he said that it was because the menu had not been updated in 3 years! So I cancelled my order. And the guy went off. He was extremely rude. Needless to say I will not be giving them any of my money.

The best Chinese food Ive had in the area. We order from here regularly and dine in on occasion. Everything weve ordered has been great and we really like the family that runs the place. The children are really entertaining while you are waiting to pick up your order. The husband and wife are super friendly as well and Ive never had bad service. My only complaint is that food on the lunch buffet (weve gone twice) is good but sparse. You have to wait until the buffet is replenished and it isnt quick. Id highly recommend it for all made to order food though.

The building is old and a tad run down but the food is great & you are sure to get service with a smile! Their General Tsos chicken is *by far* the BEST I have ever had... & Ive been around! Parking isnt the best, but you will run into that with any old building on Main st. We are a young family, living paycheck to paycheck & Happy Garden is a welcome, budget-friendly pick-me-up every other sunday or so when we go to town. The General Tsos chicken is *totally* slammin & worth whatever they want to charge! Love it!

This place has changed management many times over the years but nothing really ever changes! Food isnt flavorful and place is out dated. I know several people that have found bugs in their food. Gross! I dont recommend it to anyone!

Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great flavored lo mein. Fair prices. I just stopped while waiting in by bus for students to finish a wrestling trip and decided to try it. If I find myself up here again Ill be sure to stop in!

They cook your entire meal in about 10 minutes, and the food is DELICIOUS, and it usually lasts for more than one meal. The family that runs it is very friendly. There is always a friendly vibe about the place.
