My husband convinced me to try this place instead of ihop or Dennys, big mistake! We waited to get a table for about fifteen min, no problem there as it was a Saturday morning. Everything began to go wrong once we were seated. Right away we could tell our waitress had an attitude, but okay, I can understand and sympathize as I have worked in a restuarant and it is a stressful environment. We ordered our food and waited...and waited and waited some more. A whole hour in fact. As we were waiting we began to notice table after table of people who came in after us getting their food. Three tables were served before us who came in after us. We ordered eggs, pancakes and bacon, nothing that would take longer than any other meal to cook. Once our food came it wasnt even right and it was cold. I then asked our waitress if I could speak to a manager and she quickly tried to deflect saying whats wrong, Ill handle it. I explained to her that after waiting an hour we had finally recieved cold food and our order was wrong. She said Ill take care of it and left the table. She returned about 5 min later and told us she discounted our check 20%. Cool, Im still not too happy but I do appreciate the discount. My husband went to pay and showed his military I.d. to get their advertised discount of 15% and the hostess told him she would not give him the military discount because we already recieved a discount. My husband explained to her that we recieved a discount because of the restaurants mistakes and she still refused to give us the advertised discount. So pretty much we get punished by having the original discount taken away because the restuarant made mistakes. And all in all they gave us an additional 5% off to shut us up. So after all that we are finishing up our meal and the hostess walks up to our waitress who is standing 10 ft. from our table and begins to talk about us, like I cant hear her, telling her about how we want double discounts and blah blah blah. And what does our waitress do? Says she knows, makes a face and waves her hand in the air. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Bad food, bad service and bad attitudes. I hope this gets back to a manager/owner, especially since if you request to speak to one while you are there they wont let you and try to sweep the issues under the rug.

Ive been to the Pancake House many times over the years and previously enjoyed their food and service. Decided to go there for dinner since I havent been there since they remodeled and added the grill side. To start with dont expect the menu that is displayed on Google. At least in the burger section of the menu most of the items shown online were missing. Ordered a appetizer of fried calamari only to have the waitress return to tell us that it is wasnt available tonight. Changed order to bacon cheese fries that werent bad but my girlfriend felt the bacon was a bit overcooked. Ordered our burgers both medium well done. My girlfriend ordered the burger on sourdough but they brought it out on a normal bun so we sent it back. When I went to add the condiments found the entire bottom of my burger was burnt to a crisp, to the point if you scrapped it black dust would come off. Completely inedible. Sent it back rather than having to wait even longer to have it replaced opted just to work on finishing the cheese fries since at that point since my girlfriend burger seemed OK. She ordered a second drink and then wrong drink was delivered. Heres a hint of somebody orders the same drink, usually the fruit on the side will be the same, lemons and limes are different. Shrugs, it could of been worse so just decided to go with it. How could it get worse? Well by the time my gf got to the center of her burger she found it spots that were almost raw still, nowhere close to medium well. Bill came to $40.25. Will never go back. Feel bad that Ive recommended the place to military personnel as a cab driver over the years and will never do so again.

Our waitress was friendly but inattentive to me and my boyfriend during our visit. The table we were sitting at was about 6 inches from another table she was servicing which really allowed me to compare the service she provided. Whereas she never checked on us, never gave us an update on our food (which took 55 minutes to come to our table after we ordered), and never offer us a refill on our drinks she did all of this and more for the two women sitting 6 inches away from us. Additionally, the food was not good. The pancakes were undercooked and tasted like dough and the eggs were wet and runny when I asked for them scrambled. I would have sent them back, but again our waitress did not bother to check on us. I was able to see the exemplary service she gave to the table next to us so I know she is capable of good customer service, but me and my boyfriend were simply not on the receiving end. This was our first time at this establishment and we will not be coming back. Also, I find it rude how the owner comments on these reviews to people who experienced problems during their visit. Take responsibility for the lack of customer service and train your staff on how to improve instead of attacking patrons in the comments.

You know its good when there is typically a line out the door on most days. The Pancake house is packed with locals and the staff is super friendly to all newcomers and travellers passing through. Delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, original pancakes with off-menu specials like apple cheddar pancakes, pineapple pancakes, as well as local favorites to include stuffed French toast, chicken and waffles, and sweet potato pancakes. For us northerners they even offer up some great deli sandwiches like hot pastrami and corned beef. And, if feeling ambitious, have a side of perfectly golden fried crinkle cut fries paired with a thick and refreshing milkshake. Prices are reasonable. Other than some longer than normal wait times, this is a Norfolk MUST for that comfort food brunch you deserve every now and then.

This little gem has become an almost weekly ritual for me and my husband. WE LOVE this place. Yes, it is quite "cozy" inside, but it just adds to the experience! The food is AMAZING! So far, we have only been here for breakfast but we are looking forward to trying lunch soon. I am not usually a fan of regular buttermilk pancakes but this place has won me over. And their omelets... Oh my goodness. I dont know what they do (or dont do) to have their omelets come out so fluffy and non-greasy - but WOW! So good. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and tastes out of this world. We LOVE this place and have even made a point to bring our out of town visitors here. And, we appreciate the military discount. :-)

Weve been customers of the Pancake House for over 35 years. They moved next door after an extensive renovation. The interior is bright, roomy and clean. The waitresses are friendly and the booth seats are very comfortable. The new bathrooms are very clean and handicapped accessible. Now for the best part the food. The menu has expanded and whatever you decide you will not be dissappointed. With the ABC license you can enjoy an adult beverage with your meal. Prices are very reasonable. This is our go to restaurant at Wards Corner in Norfolk. Try it youll not be disappointed. They offer 10% discounts for age and military on certain days, however, we go whenever because were loyal customers.
