We came to the Belmont for the first time on April 15, 2016 and arrived before 7 PM. Because of a wait we went to the bar and our server named Griffin advised that happy hour was going on and that all beer was one dollar off the regular price. We then ordered two beers. Twenty minutes later we were taken to our table for dining and ordered our food. The food arrived as expected and was good. All was well until we received the bill. We were charged regular price for the beers that we had ordered during happy hour. When we questioned the waiter we were told that The beers were keyed into the computer at 7:01. We were also charged extra for a side item in which that item was clearly stated as included with the entrée. When when we confronted our waiter named Griffin he began pulling out cash from his own pocket to pay for what he said was mistakes by the restaurant staff. We later called to speak to the manager. The manager was not available but we did speak to a woman who was the assistant manager She went on to tell us how the server was a good server and did not seem interested in our experience at the Belmont. Because of these reasons we will not be dining at the Belmont in the future and will not recommend the Belmont to anyone we know.

I have been going to Belmont for over 3 years. The food is great but today was one of the worst customer experiences ive ever had. Wednesday night is wing night $0.39 wings hard to beat. You have to order a minimum of 10 wings per order. So my family and I went out tonight for wings and beer. 5 people 1 order of 10 wings (the minimum) per person and beers about 15 beers in total. 2 of us got sides fries and mac and cheese. when it was time to leave we were told we couldnt take our leftover wings home that its a new policy just started that day. This is appalling. How can you tell someone you cant take home the food they paid for when you have a minimum number to order??? Needless to say that will be the last time my family or I will be going back if thats how they are going to treat costumers. So much for Your regulars continuing to eat there.

I had read the mixed reviews of Belmont House of Smoke, but was desperate for a good BBQ restaurant. Last Saturday we gave it a try and were very disappointed. First, there was a long wait from the appetizer to the serving of our main course. Hoping it would be worth the wait, we were greeted by plates with extremely small portions. To top it off, it would seem our food had been plated and sitting around for some time. The food was cold and even the sides like the potatoes had begun to harden. I would say we would give it another try, but given the prices, the small portions, and the lack of service it just isn’t worth the trip. Hopefully someone soon will fill the empty void in the BBQ restaurant market. Save both your time and money and avoid BHS.

So I expected more from this place based on reviews. I ordered the 3 meat combo: ribs, brisket, and sausage. They gave me 4 pieces of burnt ribs drowned in so much sauce that I had to wipe it off. The four slices of brisket didnt have a smoky flavor. The sausage was good, but they only give you half a link. The macaroni and cheese was the best part of the meal. However, with a name like Belmont House of Smoke, I expected the food to have a good smoke flavor, but it didnt. And the onion rings (appetizer) and french fries were greasy. This was a lack luster meal and I didnt even finish eating it. For a positive note, the service was great, and the waitresses were very friendly. I would suggest you go somewhere else for a good barbecue meal.

I dropped in for a quick lunch while visiting a client, and ended having a pretty good meal. You can smell the BBQ a block away, which is a great sign. I ordered a Hog Heaven: a pulled pork and brisket sandwich, topped with onion rings, peppers, and cheese. The combination of different BBQ was good, and the other sandwich ingredients went well together. They had a selection of fie different BBQ sauces, but I wasnt a fan of any of them. They all tasted like they came out of a bottle from the supermarket. I like to drown my BBQ in sauce, so this kind of made my meal a little underwhelming. If they can tweak their sauce recipes, they might have a winner. Until then, it is just OK in my book.

We tried this place tonight for the first time. We were not impressed. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is a smell you wont shake the rest of your time there. Old, sticky beer smell. We got the tobbaco onion rings and those were very good! A huge amount too. Dinner though, meh. I got sliced brisket, my bf got burnt ends. Neither of our meals were very warm, let alone hot. The hush puppies were pretty overcooked and dry. The brisket was far from tender. I spent forever just truing to cut it up. We couldnt find a single sauce we liked either. We were just all around not impressed. We frequent BBQ places so we walked in with high hopes.

Ive eaten here three times, each time got the beer can chicken, each time its been great. The sides are amazing too - the mac & cheese is heaven and the cornbread is always a huge piece and perfect. I cant rate 5 stars because of the issues Ive experienced during each dining experience, though. Today they had no diet soda and no baked potatoes. Really? Bummer. Last time it was lousy service and asking for things at least twice before the server remembered to bring them. Ill go again with the hope I can get a cold diet coke and extra napkins when I ask the first time. At least I know the chicken will be good!

I love coming here. I go mostly every Wednesday for wing night. I have seen a lot of these reviews and have realized that a lot of people arent used to the genuinity at Belmont. It is a very busy place. You might be in line for a good 20 minutes at their busiest. I think most people dont a wait at a local restaurant but they have great deals and great food. Their waitresses are very nice and the staff give you an "at home" vibe. They are very welcoming and it almost makes you treat the restaurant humanely. At their busiest, the food still comes out faster than red lobster on a slow day.

The Norfolk area doesnt have a lot to offer when it comes to restaurants, so this was a pleasant find. After three trips, they have not failed to deliver delicious food in a decent amount of time. Even when they were packed, they served us well. They also have a nice beer selection. Prices are what youd expect for a BBQ/bar joint, which is reasonable for the food, service, & atmosphere. The upstairs has a large bar & will often have karaoke. Parking may be a pain & there may be quite a wait if it is the weekend.
