Being a new jersey native you wouldnt think id know good bbq but after traveling the country for the last 5 years and spending countless months in the south ive grown to know what good bbq is supposed to taste like. When I stopped traveling I thought I had lost my opportunity for good bbq until about 2 weeks ago when the menu for this place showed up in my office and I figured id give it a try. The brisket sandwich was to die for! I liked it so much that I told everyone at the office about it and we ordered it the other day - it has now become a mainstay in our weekly rotation. I cant wait until next thursday to order it again. Oh, last time I got the chicken... delicious! I just wish they had more meat platters instead of just sandwiches... oh, and hush puppies! but definitely try the beans with a little of the spicy bbq sauce mixed in - heavenly!

Standard BBQ, not amazing but not bad. Very clean and fast service. Kinda strange to order at register, seems a little disconnected from a service POV. I got the 2 1/4 lb of meat. Good portion but seemed perfectly measured out. The plate looked like 4 measuring cups. Food quality was fair, chicken was fresh but not that smoky or moist, same with the brisket. Baked beans tasted like they came from a can, garlic mash was kind boring. Buffalo wings were cooked perfectly, but the sauce wAs too salty, I do t think they make the wing sauce either. The BBQ sauces on the table were ok, would have perferfered a bigger variety other the. Mild, medium and hot. all in all decent and cheap, but could use a lot more personality. Also it was 60 degrees in the dining room at 7pm on a Sunday.

The first time we visited the food was good, not so much for the service and atmosphere. Employees pretty much ignore you and you have to find them if you need napkins, catsup, etc. They ran out of some items, and the decore is pretty much sparse. This time we tried the family bundle as a takeout - 1# each of beef, chicken, pork plus sides. Its pretty sad when the best item is the corn bread - which they shorted us on! All the meat was dry - and looked like it was leftovers from the night before. Thank goodness the sauce was decent to give the meat some moisture! I know they win awards, but Im sure they give the contests more attention than the patrons, and certainly make contest items fresh. This has been our experience and we probably will not go back.

UPDATE: We returned to get catering for my sons graduation party in June 2017. Same results. Perfect, moist chicken - the brisket was gone immediately and the sauce was as always spot on. Nobody does it better. 6 stars ****** -------------------------------- TSB catered my sons Eagle Ceremony several years ago. To this day, after we have eaten all over the country, we still look back on this place, as do others, as the greatest catered BBQ meal ever. We had pork, brisket and chicken. Not many places do chicken well; this place did it PERFECTLY. We had a little sauce left over which we kind of stretched out longer than appropriate because it was that good. This place is the real deal. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I see all the fabulous reviews for this place and I love BBQ so when I moved to the area I thought this would be a no brainer. I took our family of 5. Firstly, it is order at the register style which is not that big of a deal. We sat upstairs and the tables up there were so disgusting I didnt even want to touch it. The food was so-so at best. The ribs were decent. Pulled pork sammy average...chicken was just ok. Everything about this place was average. Maybe I caught this place on a off night but I was ultimately disappointed. I wanted to like this place so much but in the end my search for authentic BBQ in Sussex Co continues.

Just went there for the first time with my family of five. Walked in grabbed a menu and selected a table in their upstairs dining room to decide on what to order. They have counter service and then deliver it to the table. We ordered the Family of 6 dinner and appetizer sampler. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We had tons of leftovers that they wrapped up for us. The server was friendly and helpful, the restaurant was very clean, and the food was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

The ribs are FANTASTIC!!! Delicious smoked BBQ flavor, big, thick and juicy. I ordered take out. My food was ready for pickup when promised and the staff was very well mannered but not over the top "fake nice"... real genuine courtesy. I read an earlier comment about the "tall chair" seating only... after picking up my order I found out that was "BS". The first floor has normal seats and tables and an outside area to enjoy your meal. There is a 2nd floor but didnt check it out. I will absolutely go here again!

Found them threw a Google search in the area. The food is great. We had our wedding on Halloween this year and had them cater it. First I have to say the food was awesome. They were on time and very prepared. I have to send a great thank you to the servers. They were awesome and very friendly. Will definitely be going back and having them cater another party. Just an FYI I know you go for the meat....but the chilli and the coleslaw are to die for.

Highly reccomend! Food was great - order the chicken. The service/ staff and manager were fantastic and took care of all of our needs! One dish was not hot enough and the manager was so professional and made sure it came right out the the kitchen hot and fresh personally. It is rare that any business treats their customers correctly and I was very satisfied. Good food by people who care- this is the type of place you should spend your money at!

My husband and I have picked up delicious BBQ from Texas Smoke on two different occasions. Both times the food was excellent. The first time we tried the brisket and the pulled pork and last Saturday we decided to try the ribs. They gave us perfect instructions for re-heating and three different sauces to try. The meat literally fell off the bones and didnt even need sauce. Love the sides and especially the corn bread. Love your BBQ!

Best barbecue place in the area. Unpretentious service, value for your money and fantastic food (everything is a contrary to a lot of restaurants in Northern NJ). Everything here is good from ribs to pulled pork to hush puppies. This place gives your meat as dry rub, so you get to put 3 different kind of sauces (mild, medium and spicy) on top of your meat, as much or as little as you want. The way its supposed to be. What a little gem!

Went to Texas Smoke last week and ordered the ribs and a brisket sandwich - the standards of Texas BBQ. First of all, there is no seating except high tables without chairs. Both the ribs and the brisket were extremely dry as if they had been sitting in a warming oven for way too long. Hot Rods has much better BBQ - in fact these guys need to take a field trip to Hill Country BBQ in NYC for a true taste of Texas BBQ.
