Today I tried their lunch for the first time. The lady who answered the phone was civil I guess. I go to pick up my food and buy a cookie as well since I read on the reviews their desserts were the best. The girl behind the register was very friendly and made the experience much better. But now as I sit on my lunch break eating I can say I probably would not go back. I got the lobster roll which tastes like basically canned imitation lobster and mayo on what I think is a hot dog bun. The potato salad is overly sweet and has almost no potatoes just lots of large raw onions and mashed yellow paste. The only nice this about this selection was the fruit. It was a nice variety of kiwi, strawberries, pineapples and blueberries. The cookie was pretty good. Needless to say I dont feel like I was missing much. Hopefully their other choices are better but Im not sure i would return to find out.

The service was okay. The server argued with me twice about what I ordered and did not order. The server made faces when I asked to get a refill on my drink. The hostess walked around the restaurant as if she was doing security detail not really concerned about the dinning experience. When my colleague asked the hostess for a refill on their drinks she made a face as if we inconvenience her from finishing her security detail. The lobster roll taste like imitation crabmeat. Needless to say I will not be returning back to this restaurant.

Went because of an Amazon coupon. Going back because it is wonderful. The atmosphere is casual and peaceful. The staff is very friendly. The owner came to our table to speak to us. He was very friendly and I felt he truly wanted us to have a good experience. Generous portions and the food is delicious. I did not have room for desert so I am going back just for that. If you have not tried it you are missing out on a great experience. The prices are reasonable and the food amazing.

They over charged my car 4 times and tryed to say they didnt... I even showed them my bank statement saying they did.... After addressing the issue I ate from there twice and got sick both times and today I ordered some food and I went in to pick up my order even after they seen my bank statement tried to tell me that their credit card company said they only pull the money once..... I will never go to this place again.....

The Lunch Bell has AMAZING pie. The coconut cream and chocolate cream are to DIE for. The main courses are also very good, but its the dessert that defines this place. The waitresses are very kind and never make mistakes with your order. The only complain I have is that the owners, mainly the lady, can be very cranky some times. She softens up with a big tip though...:)

My associate & I were greeted with kindness as soon as we walked through the door. Our waitress was sweet and tentative, frequently filled our drinks and asked how things were, which we replied "excellent" each time. For the 2 of us to eat as much as we did, the price was very reasonable and the food was great. I will return next time Im in Newport News.

Outstanding customer service! Great homemade food, nothing frozen or heated up here. Made to feel very welcome and at home. Everyone couldnt have been more friendly and helpful...puts a smile on your face. Cheese steak was fantastic, gonna have to go get it again.

Crab cakes were to the moon good. Made reservation for book group and were seated in a room set apart; but, another group was seated in the same room which made conversation almost impossible. Service seemed slow.

High quality food and the staff may as well be long lost family. Thats the way you are treated and mom always told me...the food tastes better with the company of loved ones. Thats how I honestly felt.

Outstanding service and food, the variety of menu choices was great. The Mom and Pop style and attention to detail were also a rate treat in todays restaurant businesses.

Wonderful hash browns. Good coffee. Sweet potato pancakes were amazing. Also, got some coconut cream pie to go. It was the best piece of coconut cream pie Ive ever had.

Very casual fare. Southern favourites done well. Consistent fries, amazing pot roast. Cant go wrong with the menu, just a bit unnerving being thrown back into the 70s.

Check your bill , was overcharged . Left email and message but no response from them at all. Very disappointed at lack of response ... Probably would not recommend

Time machine to 1965. Food is exceptionally bland. Coffee is awful. Both of our orders were incorrect. Staff was friendly, but slow. Skip the lobster roll.

These are my favorite kind of waitresses -- sweet, southern, welcoming, and call you sugar, darling,or baby. Plus the breakfast buffet is out of this world.

Very much a down home resturant in the city. It has AMAZING PIE. I do wish it wasnt 5 dollars a slice because once you have one...you have to get another.
