I have been trying out asian foods at most of the collegetown spots and I remember once having some very nice squid with sesame sauce at Miyake many years ago. This time I had Gyoza, miso soup and an order of Ebi Sushi. The miso soup was adequate but could of used some more seaweed in it but the other two verged on food crimes. Gyoza is suppose to be pan-fried, Not deep-fried. They are called Pot-stickers. These came on a leaf of lettuce and some gratuitous garnish in a small pool of fryer oil. Not the worst Ive had, but not up to spec by any means either. Overpriced compared to deep-fried wontons anywhere else and not as good. But the sushi was the pits. How can they serve it? The stuff I had on 4/30/08 was about half the size of the shrimp in other places, and had been sitting around for a while. Leathery and dry and afterwards, I could almost detect an amonia aftertaste. For some reason, it also had a band of seaweed wrapped around it. Not the standand and not an improvement. The garnish had been slapped on with no thought of presentation. A dollar cheaper than other sushi places and a very poor bargain. When I cashed out, the waitress asked me how me food was, and I said terrible. Aparently they are use to hearing this since there was no follow up question.

The rolls were substandard, service was slow. We had to pay our bills at the counter ourselves. We were not informed about the 40% off on Tuesdays not extending to items on the main menu (even though this was the previous practice). Therefore, some of us paid significantly higher than we would had we known.

40% rolls on Tuesdays - but beware a TON of people come. One time our food took 3 hours to come. Flaming and specialty rolls are pretty good, but the house salad tends to be flavorless and soggy. Stick to the rolls.

Food is a little overpriced for collegetown, but the hidden secret are their promotions that they have on quite a few of the days. For example, on Tuesdays, a select few rolls are priced at 40% off
