First of all, we have been to Mellow Mushroom many times at other locations and have only had great experiences: great food, great service, great atmosphere. So when this one opened down the street in Herndon, VA I couldn’t wait to check it out with my girlfriend. Unfortunately I wish we had never gone. Honestly I am stunned by how bad the service was here—I cannot think of a worse dining experience. Here it goes: 1.) We ordered a cinnamon pretzel appetizer. 20 minutes later another waitress brought our order to the family next to us, which they ate (I don’t blame them…if you had the glazed pretzels laid in front of you it would be hard to resist). Our server eventually came back and, with her back turned to the family at the table with the pretzels, blamed them for the mistake (it was their fault for eating them, you see), and the other server, and the kitchen. 2.) Finally our pretzels arrived. There was no silverware at the table so we asked for some. What we got were forks and two knives covered in congealed fingerprints. My concern must have been apparent on my face as another server took the initiative to silently come by and give me a new knife (whoever she was she was on point). 3.) Next to us was a man who, seeing and smelling our pretzels, asked his waitress for an order of them. When his order arrived sometime later the server was visibly perplexed as to which table the pretzels belonged. I averted my eyes and covertly pointed to the man next to us, who was reading his book and unaware of the plight that almost befell him. 4.) The price of our medium pizza was inconsistent with the menu price and when we got the receipt we were paid a visit by the manager. The first thing she said when she got to our table was “So you think your meal should be cheaper?” Normally I would assume such a comment would be meant as a joke but her eyes, tone of voice, and body language all indicated she was ready for a fight. Me and my girlfriend were totally taken off guard. She continued to be disrespectful and nasty, as if we were trespassing on the property and were out of line to ask questions. She made us feel unwelcome and wondering what we did wrong as we left the restaurant feeling cheated out of 45 bucks. Being that other Mellow Mushroom locations don’t have these problems, it can only be an issue of bad management. The servers can’t be blamed for lack of training—their manager must provide this before they start and lead by example. It is obvious at the Herndon Mellow Mushroom that neither has been done as the servers seem desperate for guidance and training, bringing into doubt the competence of their bosses. The bad service overshadows the good food. We personally won’t be back.

Ive never left a review at a place but i feel one is in need here to help service grow. The menu here looked very appetizing and had many delicious combinations of pizzas.. unfortunately the pizzas are made very poorly. I recently went there with a couple friends and we ordered the single large cheese pizza with some wings and the pretzels. I cant speak for the rest of the menu but the pizza was made so cheap and the taste was average if that. The large 16 inch cheese pizza ($16) came out with a paper thin crust ( and i mean literally paper thin) and the thinnest layer of cheese spread across. The edge crust of the pizza was about 30% of the total pizza which may have been ok if the crust was delicious but it was so dry and tasteless sprinkled with some parm cheese as if that were to help.. Their was also 3 giant dough bubbles in the pizza which made it all the more worst. A 5$ medium pizza from little ceasars would fill you up more and taste much better, which is what i was thinking the whole time that i should have just went to dominos or little ceasars or pretty much anywhere else. If the simple cheese pizza was this bad i couldnt imagine the rest of them, which were 25$ a pie. The wings we had were ok but again i was thinking of other establishments that are much tastier. The pretzels like the crust were very dry and made me feel like i needed to drink a whole glass of water just to finish one... i doubt i will eat here again because it just seems like i could go to any number of other places and recieve better quality. My first time writing a review on google but something needs to be said if u want to keep customers coming back.

Just got back from lunch at Mellow Mushroom in Herndon. Ive only been to one other location (C-Ville) and it was awesome! The food was very good but as everyone has stated - the service was mediocre (at best). Our server started off well and we ordered the pretzels. Two other tables that arrived after us received their appetizers or meal before we received our pretzels. Our salad came out right after the pretzels and if we didnt prod the server (we needed to get back to work) who knows when the pizza would have appeared. The staff didnt seem to know where orders needed to be delivered. I cant tell you how many times we were brought food that wasnt ours. At the end of the meal, we were asked how our meal was I mentioned the wait for the pretzels and recommended that he train the staff to give the details of how long the pretzels take to come out (15-20 minutes), so that people know when they order them and arent surprised at the wait time. I also said why dont you ask if you can bring the salad or something else out so that the meal flows somehow... The table next to us got their meal before they got the pretzels they ordered. They wanted to cancel their pretzels but couldnt and took them to go. Oh, one other thing; MM is having parking issues with the shopping center that they adjoin and you should only park in the "Reserved MM" parking or youll get towed. That is a big problem because they just dont have enough parking -- at all!

I would love to give 5 stars because every other one has been amazing and the food here was good especially the bruschetta and usually the artichoke dip. However this one did not live up to my precious experiences. The main reason is because of the bartender. Not only did she barely say hi but took her awhile to get to us, I let it slide at first because she had customers. But when people who got there and ordered full meals after I ordered appetizers and saw them get their meals while ours were sitting for awhile and everyones drink at the bar was empty and she was talking to her friends thats when I started having an issue. I was so disappointed after finally finding one closer than dc. If I didnt get her again i would definitely go back but Id go to dc before I got her again

Ordered online, took a screenshot of my confirmation to be sure. No pizza was received by their ordering system. I didnt have time to wait for one to be cooked. The manager refused to offer me any future coupons or discounts for their errors. They didnt care about my screenshot confirmation. It probably sounds minor but this was supposed to be a treat for my wife and I since we have a new baby and swap baby duties while I work days and she works nights. Instead we were hungry, late, and scrambling to fix something to eat. So the mellow mushroom smug, west coast, stoner vibe really rubbed me the wrong way that they didnt care to make things right. Plus the pizzas are a bit too expensive. They lost my business
