To preface, when I last went here (which was early summer 2015) it was great food for a decent price; Im not sure what happened since then but its changed a lot and for the worse. Food: Very lackluster; I ordered the vegetarian thali and my wife had the chicken biryani. My food definitely tasted like a brick of jaggery (basically cane sugar) was mixed in, which for reference included palak paneer, navratan korma, and dal makhani (they can be made sweet but not so much so that you are eating a mound of sugar). I couldnt even eat a small portion because the amount of sugar was just nauseating. My wifes biryani had no spice at all and basically amounted to rice, saffron, and chicken. The best thing about the meal was leaving the table. Service: Non-existent. I was told that my order was too much work for the kitchen and to try to get something else. Why put something on the menu that you arent willing to make? I can understand if you run out of ingredients to make something, but why be in the service industry if you are going to be lazy? My wife and I struggled to get the attention of servers and even the manager despite being only one of 3 groups in the restaurant. Finally, when the meal was completed, I was presented with a receipt that had an automatic gratuity tacked on. I thought that was only for larger groups, not for two people. When I asked about this (which was a 18% tip), the manager insisted this was a typical practice, which was just a straight lie. I had enough of this place and just wanted to leave as sleazy practices like this was just the final nail in the coffin. Bottomline, the staff is rude and the manager is sleazy. Final Thoughts: Dont go here, there are plenty of indian restaurants in the area that deserve your patronage; This place is not one of those anymore. The current management and staff are doing a disservice to all of us that loved this place before by tricking you all into thinking this is exactly the same. ---------- Update: The manager contacted me and had this to say: "You are very funny man. You have lots of time in your life. But i definitely can say that you dont have any problem with the food or anything but you just have a problem with 18% gratuity. You know what, the people like you want everything free. free food, free service, free restaurant environment, everything free. u think like the waiters and buzzers are your servant so they will pick up your plates, they will refill your empty glass, they will set up the restaurant for you, they will windup and they will everything for you free. Apart of it you write a wrong review about the restaurant. The person like you will never understand the importance of servers and hospitality people. If we will not serve you, you can not go out for food and drink. If you can not afford just 15-20% tip for the servers after eating food. Then i would like to give you a free advice to eat at home only. Dont go to restaurants. Thank you so much for coming this time. Give respect and take respect."

We took our friends to this restaurant for dinner yesterday because of its location, ambience, and previous experience of having good food. Additionally, it also provided a more peaceful atmosphere as the restaurant is usually less than half filled even on Saturday dinner time and did not need reservation. We had a very good welcome; however, the waiter assigned to the table did not seem to be interested in explaining about main dishes. He was very keen to having order for drinks and appetizers. Papadi Chat was good. We ordered Hyderabadi Biryani, Balti Gosht, Tandoori Lamb Chops, and Chicken Tikka. Chops were blackened and part of it was not edible. Chicken Tikka was good. Hyderabadi Biryani was no more close to Hyderabadi—it appeared to have been made by simmering rice with plenty of deep fried masalas and mixing a few pieces of meat that was also served as Balti Gosht. Nans were good and freshly made. Gajar Halwa and Qulfi tasted very good. Serving portions were small for the prices charged excepting serving for rice, which was generous. The waiter explained that small serving size in up-scale restaurants is because diners do not share their dishes. I think it also avoids wastage. We also had a little problem in having the table cleaned. In spite of requesting 3 times and also complaining to the Manager, our table was not cleaned; we cancelled our order for tea as did not feel comfortable having tea on that table. The Manager and the Waiter both were very apologetic and offered us to have the tea without charge. We thanked them for their offer, which we could not take. Overall cleanliness, like most desi restaurants, including that of bathrooms and even the front door needs attention. Our general impression is that the quality of food was better although serving sizes were smaller, but with higher prices as compared to neighboring Indian restaurants. The location is good with no problem in parking. I will have reservation in taking my guests there. I can go there again, if invited by others.

Upon receiving some food that was a bit undercooked, the waiter did not have the authority to do anything, but the manager said he will replace the dish. After a long wait no replacement. Called the manager again, and asked for a subsitution (naan instead of rice) on another dish. Got a big lecture on how he is a MBA and has done market research on what is in demand and what equivilent restaurants serve, etc... Refused to subtitute. When the bill arrived, we asked that since the undercooked dish was not replaced as promissed, they remove the $4 charge. This was removed, but a $10 tip was added and justified by using my 6 month old infant to say my party was of the size where automatic tip is required. After confrentational conversation, the tip was removed by the manager, who justified his confrentational behavior by saying that I had insulted him in the way i looked at him. I made it clear that I had no intention of insulting him, but was simply trying to get him to be flexiable on what a dish included. Manager claimed that he was flexible, but refused to substitute again when I attempted to order a dish to test him on his word. This is one MBA who does not understand that voice of the customer is far superior in any business to any market research.

Angeethi is one of the restaurants who constantly have Groupon deals and I bought one of them and went to dine in at the restaurant. I was with my whole family (wife and parents) and before I even entered the restaurant I asked my to be waiter (a grumpy old Indian man) if they accept Groupons and he said yes. After we finished our meal when we were paying our bill, the old man complains to us about the fact that hes only making the difference of the sale (bill amount minus the groupon amount) and what we are doing was not right. If I bought a groupon with that restaurant I have every right to use it. Period! He was extremely rude and really spoiled our night out with the family. He also claimed to the owner of the restaurant when someone else had to step in and clear the fact that in fact he was just a disgruntled old man. If the restaurant doesnt honor Groupons they shouldnt offer deals on them instead of venting out on the customers who bought the Groupons. The food was never that great anyways and I am never going back to this place. There are so many good restaurants who know how to treat customers with respect within a 3-4 mile radius who serve much better food at a better price.
