I rarely give 1 star for reviews, so that should tell you how truly horrible this place is (read on). I am sorry, but all the positive reviews below are probably posted by people who probably are not Indian restaurant connoisseurs, and probably people who had gotten lucky with service. I walked in with my parents on a Friday night without doing any research (I am a little perplexed how the aggregate Google review is about 3.5 stars, but I doubt that will stay the case for long). Let me get the [extremely few] positives out of the way first: decent bread basket, good green chutney with papad. Now the Bad: The food (Shahi Paneer, Malai Kofta, and Mixed Vegetables) were actually too sweet! How do you butcher these Indian Restaurant staples by adding sugar/molasses to them?! This was still bearable, however what made this truly unbearable is that the wait staff was COMPLETELY inattentive and preoccupied in the back. Never have I eaten at an Indian Restaurant where the wait staff did not refill the water, check up on you, nor did they even bother to ask if we were ready for the check. Constantly having to wait for the server to pass us by to flag her for some water or any other food refills is atrocious service. Furthermore, as an ambassador for Indian food, I still made an effort at the end of the meal to reach out to the owner/manager and tell her about our experience in hopes of improving the local Indian restaurant scene, and that it wasnt only our table, but rather that service was lacking at every table...she just didnt get it (as was evident with her blank stare).

I dont know what it’s wrong with the bad reviews. I live close to this place and I decided to try it out. I have been to several Indian buffets and this is the only one that does not make me feel bloated and heavy after eating. The food tastes really good, it seem to be simple, not too hot spicy (excellent for young children). This has become my favorite Indian buffet! And my girlfriend agrees with me as well, we both love it. Too bad their buffet is only there for launch, I would have loved to have it for dinner as well. Also, I have spoken with the owner and he said that they have been in business for almost 12 years. If they are in business for so long, that means that their food is good enough. The buffet is affordable and I invite you to try it once. It’s cheap, good, tasty, and healthy. I know other buffets that have more food, but honestly, I prefer having less food to choose but good quality.

I heart Indian food so hard. Ive tried India Palace before which is good but gave this a shot today when I did a search online to see what I could find near Clarksburg. The owner greeted me, explained that his recipes are different than other Indian places and gave me samples of lentils and palak paneer to try. Wow. He was right. These were different, seemed healthier but just as yummy. The spinach tastes like real fresh spinach, not a bunch of cream with a bit of spinach, the lentils were firm, fresh and perfectly spiced. I got the palak paneer, baingan bharta and the malai kofta, naan and a rice pudding. My husband (and I and even our 7 year old son) are in love. We will be back soon! A must try.

Saw this new place in local ad and Went for dinner tonight and I was delighted with service and food. Awesome fresh and flavorful food. Malai kofta, shahi paneer wow. Being Indian i ordered medium spicy, but I think I can try a little extra spicy next time. It did have a mild kick though - gr8. naans were soft and not chewy like other places. It opened just 4 months back and i am happy that germantown is getting more Indian restaurants. I will certainly be back really soon for their lunch buffet, same prices weekend or weekday.

While the food is unpretentious enough, the Saag Paneer (which is supposed to contain cheese and spinach) that we ordered had chicken instead of cheese. I am a vegetarian, and to include meat in a meal that explicitly was stated in the menu NOT to contain meat is a more than egregious error. The waitress wrote the write words, either called them wrong or the cook heard wrong, and nobody checked the dish to make sure it was correct. I will not return because I would not trust this restaurant to make vegetarian food.

1st rate owners service,- menu food chef. Clean delicious lovely and respectful. You cannot go wrong...and if you wanted accommodation..just request information. This buffet on the weekend and during the week is great too. Tonight we order from the menu. On Saturdays at the Bethesda Women s Farmers Market...I order from the display.. 2 or three entrees with rice, and other specialties... they go fast . Walk in and the fragrance hypnotizes..the lovely Maria charms with her very lovely person and hospitality.

This gem of a restaurant has delightful Indian food. Although their menu has all the dishes youd look for, its the buffet that is extraordinary. They open at noon on Saturday (a bit later than Id like), but have a selection of foods that reflects their expertise in this cuisine. Their staff is nice and the owner/manager is extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend giving Inda Garden a try.

My wife and I love Indian food and weve now had two excellent experiences at this spot. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the service is friendly, though perhaps a tad less attentive than Americans are used to (read: the wait staff gives you breathing room, unlike many American restaurants). All around great experience. Well be going back.

The New Spice Grill: Really enjoyed the Chicken Kachi biryani, and the butter-chicken was pretty good too. A different taste and texture compared to the traditional Indian and Pakistani take to it. The chicken Karahi was pretty tasty as well. Oh, the salad was cut-up Bangladeshi style (with cucumbers, red-onions, etc) Cant wait to try the Goat Kachi soon.

Both Peter and Maria (the owners) are excellent host and the food is really great. My favorite is the Bengali macher jhol (fish curry). I do not think it is on the menu - you have to ask for it. They also make an awesome salmon do piyaja (a salmon dish with gravy). Their meat dishes are excellent too.

The garlic naan was delicious. The roti was also great and probably much better for you. The entrees were nicely spiced for flavor. They even offered to add more spiciness to my dish in the kitchen, not just bringing out some chile paste to the table like most other restaurants. Very friendly staff.

I eat out a lot and I travelling Al the way from Ellicott City to enjoy some real authentic food. Try it, you will love it. Always you will find people think otherwise and that is totally fine. However, not only cooking, i believe Spice Grill uses excellent quality ingredients.

Quaint place, friendly husband and wife team, and most importantly, fantastic food. We are originally from Central New Jersey (and close to the legendary Iselin restaurants), and this is the only restaurant in the area that can compete with that caliber of food.
