We went to Harrisonburg for the day to visit friends. When the sun fell, and our bellies growled, we knew it was time for dinner. My boyfriends friends suggested Food.Bar.Food. I reviewed the menu online before going to make sure there were vegetarian-options available. Since i saw few potentially tasty items on the menu, we were off to the restaurant. As we walked in, the initial the restaurant gave was quaint and trendy. I already had in mind what I wanted, but the waitress let us know there were a few other additional items since it was happy hour still. On the happy hour menu was Dal. Its a spiced lentil dish with roasted garlic and naan bread. It was filling and delicious. I could have eaten this as my meal and been just fine. However, I was on vacation and food was no limits to my belly. I decided to finish the evening off with a grilled cheese and soup. It was a little chilly outside for my Florida blood, and this was a perfect answer to my comfort food cravings. The grilled cheese was definitely interesting and not-your-typical sandwich. It had sourdough Pullman bread, onion marmalade, spinach-almond pesto, butternut squash & mozzarella cheese curd. It came with a smoked tomato soup (waitress confirmed there was no chicken stock in this). Overall, the food and staff were awesome. I also loved the environment. i really enjoy visiting places that I just cant get similar things at home - this place hit the spot. i am sure that well back in Harrisonburg soon, and this restaurant will be on the top of my list to visit that are vegetarian-friendly.

Food Bar Food aspires to be gourmet comfort food with an identity crisis of being Asian with little to marry the two. Sadly, this isnt their biggest flaw; that distinction goes to the fact they seem to lack any restraint. As such, they end up gilding the lily to the point where many dishes come off as if they had thrown the whole kitchen sink into it. The brass section in an orchestra can sound triumphant, foreboding, or even ominous. However, when the ENTIRE SECTION plays you get the noise from the Inception trailer--a loud, cacophonous which neither is a melody nor intentional juxtaposition. Its just noise. In the end, the food lacks soul. Dont get me wrong; the food tastes good, ESPECIALLY if you stick to the dishes centered around local ingredients as opposed to their delusions of making good Korean food. Full disclosure: I am Korean. WORSE, though, is their attempts to come off like they have a whimsical cocktail menu. The cocktails at best suffer the same over-done, gauche ideals as the food. They are made much worse by the fact not 1 of 3 cocktails was executed remotely correctly. You basically served me overly alcoholic rum with an intense bitter taste, lemon juice (with lemon seeds...) with some liquor, and cloyingly sweet maple "old fashioned". Ive had better cocktails at the worst dive bars and weddings. This place has a ton of potential, and dreaming is always good. But dreaming means little and less when your execution is sub par. I pray this place receives and learns from some seriously-needed criticism.

Had a date last night and sat at a table. Service was good and atmosphere was solid. But the most important thing: the food, was meh. Small plates are a little overpriced for the quality (the tuna belly was borderline rubber), and the crawfish Mac and cheese looked NOTHING like the picture they have posted on here and yelp. It also contained the meat of maybe 2 crawfish total. Pretty lackluster culinary experience. Maybe this is the place you go for just the bar.

Came here for the first time for brunch and was thoroughly impressed. I had the shrimp and grits, which was a different twist on shrimp and grits, accompanied very well with the lobster crab sauce. The Asian fried chicken and waffles were also very well done! This place certainly reminds me of "city" food rather than the typical Harrisonburg restaurant. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is also a pleasant surprise, certainly coming back here!

Updated 6/16/17. Stopped in to try out Friday brunch, had the crab cakes which were delicious. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Food arrived quickly. Previous review - Best brunch in town, good happy hour specials on drinks. They also deliver to pale fire brewery. Trendy and comfortable interior. Bathrooms always clean. Wide selection of beers and liquor and cocktails.

Delicious! I went to the bar to get Vietnamese Noodles Salad to-go, but I hope to be back for a full-length meal sometime soon! It was a beautiful day outside when I went, and the front window was removed (with a screen the size of a wall still covering where the window would have been) to create the effect of a screened-in porch. I loved that atmosphere. :)

The atmosphere here is really fun and unique. Great cocktail menu, awesome brunch, I had green eggs and bacon-Presto eggs, so yummy. They have seasonal sangria, the pineapple is amazing. Really unique menu with some local ingredients. Becoming one of my favorite places. Had the best server today, wish I knew his name to give him a shot out!

Food was good but wish shrimp were fresh. Chicken also tasted frozen. Veggies were fresh and meal has a good taste. They were understaffed the night I went but service was acceptable. He apologized for the wait and clearly was working his tail off. I would probably try somewhere else if Im in the area again.

Just want to commend some great service. Was here for drinks at the bar. I did not like the glass of wine I ordered. The bartender noticed and gladly substituted for another drink that I did like. They always have interesting cocktails and great food in a trendy but casual atmosphere.

This is a American comfort food / Asian fusion restaurant. The menu was inventive and they pulled it off well. The atmosphere is very comforting and fun. The only downside is the chairs arent super comfortable. If thats the only complaint... I think that says a lot.

I went to Food.Bar.Food for brunch and got the biscuits and gravy bowl...very good dish! My buddy got the shiitake dip(I forget what exactly they called it) to dip his hash browns in and it was amazingly addictive. I definitely recommend eating there.

The decoration looked like it was trying too hard to be hipster, the restaurant was almost empty when I went and it still took a long time to make our food (which was mediocre). Nothing was awful, but it wasnt a great dining experience.

Have gone here for brunch and lunch and have not yet been disappointed. Staff is always super helpful and food comes out pretty quick. Portions are pretty big for the price. Everything tastes delicious!

The food is delicious, the service is excellent, the prices are low. It is noisy, so it would probably be difficult to hear everyone at a large table. A great addition to downtown dining.

Food Bar Food has a lot of potential. Their Americana dishes are stellar, but their cocktails and Asian inspired dishes still need work. Pick Americana, and you cant go wrong.
