I am a Latino visiting the east coast from California. In always weary about trying Mexican food in paves where Mexican food is not a large dietary staple. The food in this restaraunt is outstanding. The family is from Vera Cruz so that is the style of cooking, but generally, it is very good Mexican food. I dont know what the guy who have is one star ate, mauve he was a bad customer, mauve he is just the type that likes taco bell over real traditional Mexican food. But this place is worth the stop in. I had the carnitas with handmade flour tortillas. It came with Spanish rice and beans, Pico de gallo (a mixture of chopped mixed fresh veggies, like salsa fresca) shredded lettuce and guacamole. The pork meat was slow cooked in spices and marinade then quickly pan fried to crisp it, much like chicharrones. Delicious. This is not hoe I am used to being served carnitas, but as I said it is Vera Cruz style. Im used to Mexicali and north west Mexico style. BOTH ARE GREAT! I ordered a Mexican style drink called a michelada, I chose Modelo Especial beer. They mixed in various spices to make it and it was almost as good as how my lady makes it for me at home. It tasted great. After having a great conversation with the host, he offered me a free sample of their handmade corn tortillas. I prefer flour but like corn too. It was amazing. Tasted ten times better than any store bought corn tortillas. I received help from multiple servers and was treated kindly. And none of which because Im a Latino; my skin is white, I have very light brown hair and I spoke English the entire time. This family was very friendly and hospitable. Go there and eat if you want great Mexican food!!

The food was adequate, if you accept that their version of "authentic" really just means "bland". The service was adequate in that I was waited on and she was moderately attentive (we were one of two families dining there, so it may just have been the lack of distractions). Then I had a problem with my food. The beef enchiladas made my spouse ill enough to have to leave mid-meal, I brought this up, but was argued with by the manager about what exactly was wrong with it; I guess my spouse was supposed to stick around to offer a detailed review instead of taking her nausea meds. After several minutes they finally backed down, although I still caught an earful on the way out of the front door... No thanks.

Just got back from this place. The food was mediocre at best. There were also some unattended children that we were sitting next to (one of the workers children I presume). The children were yelling and screaming the entire time. I dont usually get annoyed at this sort of thing, but the fact that no action was being taken by any of the workers really annoyed me. I will never go back to this place. I urge any one reading this review to never go here. If you are trying to get better mexican food, go to Mexico Restaurant across the street.

Roy and his family run an excellent Mexican restaurant using their familys recipes to craft pleasurable menu selections. The corn tortillas are handmade at the restaurant so if youre getting a dish that comes with tortillas opt for the corn, you wont be disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you are looking for good Mexican food there is only one place to look and its not Mexico Restaurant.

Fresh ingredients in their Mexican food. They have a homemade hot sauce, but you have to ask for it. Very hot! Owner and employees are friendly. Owner visits customers tables to see that everyone has been taken care of. They have no problem adjusting the heat to any of their dishes. Weve been going their since they opened. Hope to see you there soon!

We love this place! Fantastic food, prompt service and reasonable prices really make El Patron a gem. Weve eaten here at least 10 times and the food is always outstanding. We continue to go back to this family owned business to support the local restaurant but also because its just so darn good.

One of my favorite places to go for authentic Mexican. The staff is friendly and treats you like family. The menu is diverse and every dish is delicious. They are quick, inexpensive, and incredible! I would highly recommend them to anyone whos craving Mexican.

I absolutely love El Patron! I go as often as I can. I usually prefer take out, because I can call from wherever Im at in Fredericksburg and is ready for me in 10 minutes. Just go in pay and leave. Everything that Ive tried on the menu is great!

Its OK Mexican food, but I thought it was a little expensive in comparison to other local Mexican restaurants locally. I dont mind paying a little more if the quality is better, but it seemed to be about the same, just more expensive.

This is absolutely the best Mexican food weve ever had. So fresh and authentic. Amazing flavor. Good atmosphere and the service was fantastic. The only problem I can find is that its in Virginia and not in Florida where we live.

Food is fresh and delicious and service is great! Im always greeted at the door no standing around for someone to notice you. A big plus for me commuting by train from DC I always eat lunch late and El Patron has lunch until 4pm.

I order a lot of food for my employees almost every week. Anfafter spending about $300 they still want to charge me $1 for hot souce . I will not come back to this resraurant. Service is what make excellence.
