There were at least 4 managers floating around smiling at everyone but accomplishing nothing. the server took almost 15 minutes to take our orders after serving drinks. 10 minute wait to get drinks. He did not stop by once to ask me and my girlfriend how our food was, my steak was completely undercooked and tough and i didnt like it at all but i couldnt even say because there was no one to be found. The risotto under the steak was descent but also a little undercooked (thats forgivable in most cases though) my jack on the rocks was all rocks and no jack for 8 dollars. never offered a refill or a glass of wine after i told him that i would like a glass when i get my steak. youd think he would want to make the bill a little bigger. i had half my steak left and my gf had half her burger, we were just talking and he walks up to her and asks "do you want a box for that" trying to rush us out. she said Im still working and he disappeared quickly without asking how the food was. thats the only time he showed his face and didnt thank us for stopping in or anything when he dropped off the check. I do not recommend this place unless you are sticking to cigarettes and drinks where you dont need a server.

Great staff, great food and regular crowd. Thier botanas (plate of shrimp, chicken, steak and Andouie sausage, with spicy creole style creme sauce over rice) is a must try when in NOVA area, and thier breakfast menu (served late) and tots menu are great options on an already rich menu, they have awesome breakfast buffet weekend mornings too. Better that the food though is the staff and regulars, Blue Iguana is the go to place that the industry folks (servers n bartenders) go to afterhours. The staff makes you feel welcome, and work very hard at keeping guests happy, this place is truly the DC area version of "Cheers" where you can feel at home. The regular crowd is a broad mix, and includes older professionals out for a drink, family diners, and later more industry and younger crowd enjoy the nice covered porch (that has some nice overhead heaters for winter smoke breaks). Whats great about the atmosphere is all these groups drink and talk together, n everyone gets along n has a great time. The staff does an excellent job of being a good family restaurant and after 9/10pm is the place to be in Centreville/Fairfax County area

Arrived 6:30 23 April for dinner. Attractive al fresco dining was crowded but inside were plenty of empty tables. Friendly staff, excellent focacia w/pesto and romano and fried calmari appetizer to die for. Then things started to go downhill. Decent wine selection but a bargain only if you purchase by the bottle since these mercenaries serve 4.oz glasses at 6 oz prices. Both of our entres showed real promise but were haunted by lackluster starches. In my case, the petite tenderloin medalions were excellent, the bernaise sauce fresh and full flavored as was the crab topping. Sadly this was plopped onto a pile of mashed potatoes that muted the flavors and was an unwelcome texture. The final annoyance was the pre-printed tip recommendations on the bill. It takes a callous perspective of your customers to recommend they tip based on the after tax total. Totally mercenary. Service was decent, but tenuous. Id recommend Coastal Flats in Fairfax as a much better dining alternative.

The Place was ok, the two bartenders where very good and friendly. The DJ sucked he did not know to play good songs specially on Christmas Eve. Even the crowd sucked they should respect people from different ethnicity these people think they are some thing great they own USA and we are just street fools for them. A gentleman came to me he acted as if he own the place and was disrespectful. Same thing happen when i closing my tab a young kid having 3 girlfriend acted stupid. The Dj stopped the music and every one wants to close the tab so i just break in to take my credit card and he acted as if i didnt something wrong. I will visit this place but i hope i dont find these idiots i know USA has open culture i respected every young lady in the bar, i understand people just go there to pick girls but they shouldnt be frustrated if the dont get them..

Kathy is great. A couple of the other bartenders seem like they have better things to do than be there. As far as food - the gyros are phenomenal! The worst thing about this place is the gaggle of drunken creepy old men that hang around the bar and make other non-regulars uncomfortable. The comments from the wait staff to the gaggle is awkward and often cringe worthy. Unfortunately, like the bar stools, they seem to be a permanent fixture of this place. This place has a major identity crisis. The overall theme seems to be a sports bar; however, at 9pm daily for some wierd reason they start blasting club dance music despite the fact there is no dance floor and the majority of the patrons are 50+ and are trying to watch the game or play poker randomly in the side room (Monday nights). The iguana is a perfect candidate for Bar Rescue on A&E!

very disappointing. I went there the other day for lunch. not busy like it used to be, i thought it was closed down. i ordered Lobster Roll. it had very little lobster and a lot of the fake crab salad mix on it. the bun was the best part, but i dont think they used real butter on the bun when they grilled. according to our waiter its new menu, new chef and new owners. waiter never filled up my water rarely visited the table. I had my silverware on the plate because the table was sticky, which i told him that when he went to take the plate away. he wasnt pleased when i kept the plate nor did he offer to wipe down the table. my friend order the salmon salad, her salmon wasnt normal size but small. she said salad was good, except there wasnt any dressing on the potatoes. we wont be returning.

Even though its a 30 minute drive for me, I keep coming back to the Blue Iguana. The food is always amazing, and the service is excellent. If you like calamari, I highly recommend the calamari appetizer because it is always cooked to perfection—as in Ive had multiple friends exclaim: "Wow, I didnt know that calamari could even be this tender!" The menu is updated frequently, and the staff is very accommodating (ask for Helmut, hes great!). If its a holiday, definitely call and ask what the holiday special is. The prices are decent when you take into account the consistent quality of the food, and if youre a person who likes ordering an appetizer, entree, and dessert; the "Stimulus Package" dinner special includes all three for under $20.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is great, and the service spectacular. They frequently have great specials (Sunday brunch, 3 course meal for $20, etc.) and the quality and size of portions is great. I recommend the roast chicken entree, calamari app, and all of the bar food. Ive never had a bad meal, and the price is right. The place is a little hard to find (hidden in the corner of a strip mall), but the restaurant is beautiful inside (quiet and romantic away from the bar). If you can, sit in Helmuts section. Hes a great waiter with a brilliant sense of humor ("this knife is to cut, not to kill"). I cant recommend this restaurant enough.
