Excellent experience. Their chili Mac is awesome and the food is always fresh and hot. Wish i could say this about all their locations. We literally drive from manassas even tho we live a block from the manassas location because the service is awesome here. Shannon was our server and she was super fast and pleasant to work with. Very attentive and great service. Its nice to have a server who actually makes you feel welcome in a restaurant. If she is working I would highly recommend you sit in her section. One of a kind service! Thanks to the management for hiring awesome people like her!!!

Its probably the best local watering hole in the area. The servers there are fantastic and the drinks are priced well. The food is great and made relatively quickly. They have a restaurant option downstairs if you dont want the bar experience. The upstairs bar has a smoking and non smoking section with their own recreational spots(pool tables, etc.). They host multiple events throughout the week to attract customers and they really do attract a lot of customers. I would recommend this place highly if youre living in the area as it simply fantastic for a regular crowd.

Smoking inside is allowed; made everything taste like cigarettes when eating. Hard to breath even in the none smoking section. Downstairs restaurant was dingy and the floors looked dirty. Not sure how they get away with this on health codes. Poor service from the waitress but the cooks seemed to have good attitudes and interactions with the patrons sitting at the counter. The onion rings were not crispy and the fries were soggy indicating that the grease was not the right temperature. I will not go back to this location.

Slack wait staff; No one serving the non-smoking section and apparently there is smoking allowed inside right next to the non-smoking section near the bathroom and employees areas. Very disappointing. Whats the use of having a non smoking section if smokers can literally blow smoke into the non- smoking section??? I asked the waitress if it was allowed she said yes. No words...The food was decent, wings werent that good. Go elsewhere if you want good service... No southern hospitality here thats for sure.

Disgusting. Their chili bowls are little more than a pile of beef and melted cheese. Where I come from chili is supposed to be a soup. I tried the vegetarian chili the second time and it tasted and looked like Tostitos salsa with beans added. Service varied wildly from great during a slow lunch to horrible at the busy dinner hour. The music was always too loud and country. The decor is run down pub. Note: this review reflects my experience at the Arlington restaurant.

One of the few places in America where fascism does not reign. People who want to smoke are "allowed" to smoke!! I dont smoke myself but have always loved the smell of tobacco. Now it smells like freedom! Also, for some reason just about everything in Washington DC area closes at 8 pm. HTC open late. Reminds one of a better era. At Hard Times you can escspe the truly hard times of our contemporary sterile quasi totalitarian ultra-sensitive enviroMarxist culture.

This is our go-to place before or after a Nats game. Pool hall upstairs or quieter restaurant downstairs. Their skyline style chili (chili on spaghetti with optional onions, cheese, beans) is the best. Pro tip: Order a free chili sampler first to taste all four styles, for the first or hundereth time. Then order yours half and half to enjoy more than one chili. My go to is a four-way half Cincinnati, half Texas.

Newer late night staff very insulting and dismissive. To say the least. Had a simple question about my bill . PAID the bill with no problems then was "cut-off" randomly while trying to finish a pool game with my old friend. When I got irritated ,I explained that I had been coming here with no problems since they were in elementary school and the "manager" said he was calling the police. What a dick

The staff are very friendly, their beer is really good aswell, they have really good choice of draught beer! The pizza isnt that bad, it was actually pretty good. Their coffee is really good to get you up and running in the morning. Its a bit expensive, but its worth the money for the quality and service that you get.

Best local hangout in my opinion, especially during Caps season! So much fun to hang out in the bar with friends during a game. They have lights and sirens that go off when they score! Great weekly deals on drinks and apps. Not to mention the dollar jello shots and delicious bombs!

The hispanic bartender is not very outgoing and when I asked for a long Island she filled the glass with coke and ginger ale and a shot of vodka. She also broke a glass in the ice maker and did not empty the ice maker and clear it of glass.

Great drink prices and decent comfort food. Very smokey but they have a non smoking room (just isnt as lively). Good bar to play pool and have a chill night of drinking. $1 jello shots are nice too.

The beer is worth the trip but the food is only so-so. I would not drive more than 1 mile out of my way to go there but if you are in the neighborhood and want a quick pint then it might suffice.

If we give a zero we would have. A group of co-workers went for lunch. In a 50 minute we had waited for food that we needed to take it to go. Food was greasy not hot at all and tasted gross.

Forget the Chilli, Hard Times is also known for their WINGS! They Fry them then grill them! They are always the best out of anywhere! The meat falls off and their flavor is excellent!

Nice place to hang out super late at night. The menu is a bit sparse. But you dont really need much more than fries and a burger at the Hard Times. Really nice hours.
