The Livery Stable is all the way at the end of Main Street in Charlottesville. Except for the beautiful horsehead hanging outside, you might miss it. But the scnene inside is always a blast, and I walked past longingly a few times before I went in. Something about it, the thin windows, the atmosphere, or the allure, kept me from going in for 2 months. Recently, I went in. Its a party, no doubt. On a Monday night, it was packed. Great music, the bartenders are friendly, bold, and handsome. After a while, I started some conversations, and met some regulars. It does not seem that they even think about going anywhere else. Visitors to Cville came in. Students were there. Lots of laughs, great beer, and I bet they serve food, but I was so taken with the rest, I never found out. This is a community bar. I thanked the owner, Ian, for a great time, and asked him how he did it. He just smiled and said, essentially, Make a space thats safe for people to have a good time, and they keep coming. I love this place. I should have followed my gut right in. Also notable: I had an impromptu arm wrestling session with a beautiful girl who had won many. I was pantsed by a cute college girl. I found out that one of the bartenders was less concerned about scuffles in the bar because he had survived IEDs in action. The place is legit, and you should go.

Went there to watch a football game. Good beer selection, not much of a food selection but what they have (pub fare) was prepared quickly and tasty. Small place though and honestly could use better signage. I had walked passed it dozens of times without realizing it was there. Kind of almost a basement type setting.

Bizarre experience. Really good food and beer but the bartender was obsessed with making sure Dr. Strange was on the T.V..(subtitled with the music still playing over speakers) Then he left the building for a loooong time for " a smoke". What a shame… I wanted another beer.

Went on a Saturday night with the wife. My brisket sliders were very fatty. The beer I asked for was out, but still listed on the wall & the tap handle was still up. My wifes chicken was AMAZING though, and the decor is great!

At first, I had only come here for drinks, which were outstanding and then I tried the food...which was incredibly good. This is not just a good place, its a great place with awesome atmosphere.

Horrible experience. At 9pm theyre out of food choices, liqour, and other alcohol. Bartender is obnoxious, loud, rude, and unapologetic. Please take the extra few steps and walk elsewhere.

This is a very cozy hole-in-the-wall pub. Their moscow mules are amazing and come in a copper mug, as they should. I also really like the tacos. The food is surprisingly good.
