Best Sunday Brunch Ever. A resident of Maryland and third generation UVA alum, my sister and I have traveled the Highway 29 corridor for the better part of the last 25 years. Upwards of 200 trips and I dont think Ive ever had cause to pause in Madison, until last Sunday. We were talking about filling our small cooler when we saw the strip mall across and up from the old Madison High School. At the Family Dollar store we found ourselves in friendly conversation with a local woman who told us about a new restaurant with "real Italians". The cashier had never been there to eat, couldnt recall the name but described the owners wife in great detail; she was all but star struck and we were suddenly charmed and curious. Sometimes in life you end up exactly where you are meant to be. For two daughters of a Sicialian immigrant, celebrating our first Mothers Day without our own, it was a force of fate that led us a mile north into the township of Madison. The back lot of Bonannos was at capacity but we parked easily on the street. We had no reservation but neither did we have any doubt that the woman scrambling to find us a table had to be the matriarch described by our friend back at the store so we agreed to wait. So glad we did! Each course more exceptional than the last, from the chilled Barboursville wine to the authentic Caesar salad to the local mountain trout to the limoncello cake to the perfect cup of coffee. Our meals were heavenly and alone enough to guarantee our return. I will confide its likely wed have left satisfied no matter the meal because Watching this family work together on a Holiday was beautiful. Although they all seemed frazzled at one point or another with much confusion and bickering, you could see the love for each other. The best part was our server. We lost our Mother recently but in this place on Main Street, USA we felt like she was with us. Sweet serendipity... our server "Mona" shares the name of our late mother. Best Sunday Brunch Ever

I found this place while visiting from Florida and really lucked out! The inside of the restaurant is really cute and warm, decorated from the heart. The food was also to die for. I got the fried green tomatoes, which came with perfectly cooked shrimp, a DELICIOUS sauce and crisp mixed greens. I happily cleared my plate and dipped into my friends goat cheese appetizer, which was equally tasty. Ive never had either of these dishes before, and now I dont know if I can find a place back in Florida with such good food for this price! If I ever drive through Madison in the future, Im 100% stopping here to eat again!

My daughter and I stopped there for lunch, by blind luck. We liked the setting and the service, and the food is the kind of Madison County dishes I favor, that my mother cooked as I grew up. That was a long time ago, but that food was good then and is at least as good now: vegetables prepared right, flavorsome meat, and fresh bread. Highly recommended.

Sunday brunch was wonderful! Stopped in after a hike with a friend, wasnt dressed for it but was made to feel comfortable. :) Loved the blueberry pancakes. Ive had lunch here as well, and the burgers are great. Prices are reasonable-moderate, quaint atmosphere, really like the Madison Inn.

Great food...terrific service..fine family owned restaurant....husband, from Sicily, the great chef....fun, yes out of the way, but worth it, ...beautiful country side and terrific wineries nearby to visit on your journey to Madison area...highly recommend this restaurant...

The new owners of the Italian restaurant have transformed it into a great restaurant! The food is delicious, the service great, & the atmosphere cordial! The owner is an accomplished chef & my family and I enjoyed it immensely!

Incredible.....casual, friendly and competent service, classic Italian dishes freshly prepared to order!!! Probably the best food I have eaten in years!!!! Homemade desserts were phenomenal!!! We will definitely return!!!!!

This restaurant is very good overall. The service was excellent and the fresh rolls were very very good. Additionally, the food was well prepared. I also really enjoyed the artwork which sells for reasonable prices.

This was a great little find! Our bed and breakfast hostess recommended it. The staff were extremely friendly, the fettucini alfredo is amazing and the bread pudding is delicious!!

I visited with my friends and ordered the crab cakes. IT was pretty much 90% breaded and 10% crab meat. My vegetables were cold. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

Great crab cakes , crabmeat sautéed to perfection. Love the French onion soup ...always good. Others enjoyed the gazpacho with perfect amount of zest and spice.
