Not sure what all the fuss is about with this place... Ive been a few times and never had particularly good experiences. Sure, it is cheap and service is relatively fast, but you definitely get what you pay for here. They seem to use the cheapest ingredients possible resulting in food that is bland at best. The service is hit and miss, most of the time the waitresses are polite enough but during my last visit, the waitress greeted us by pointing us to her section and saying "sit where you want, I dont care!". She also got my drink wrong and didnt even offer to get me something else, and to top it off it was still put on my bill even though it wasnt what I asked for! Its a shame as it could be great if only a little more TLC was put into it, but being fast and cheap seems to be their main focus.

I go here atleast once a week... I cannot speak on the rest of their menu as I order the Gyro everytime. It is hands down the best Gyro in town. My guests usually enjoy their food and it always looks appetizing so I would have to guess it is!! I have found some of their servers dont take very good care of their guests as far as refills etc. but the atmosphere is always pleasant. You get seated quickly and the food comes out quickly... My biggest complaint is I wish it had easier access from the road because traffic can make you wait 15 minutes or better before getting out of the parking lot... and I wish they delivered so I could eat there more for lunch at work!!

My husband and I have enjoyed eating at this restaurant for years the food was good and the service better until today. You wouldnt have known it was the same restaurant we were there for an hour and never received our order. Finally our waitress who had never stopped by to check on us brought us the wrong meals. Then she came back and said someone must have taken our order. I dont think that was what happened either she ne ver turned it in or it was lost in the kitchen. I do not know if this restaurant has new owners but we did not see anyone in there that we recognized. I will think long and hard about going there again

Your typical greasy spoon diner that tries to bill itself as a local gem. While the breakfast crowd we fought through the weekend we tried Tip Top was large enough to suggest something special, we were highly disappointed. The food was bland and the menu no more creative than anything I could have just as easily whipped up at home. Moreover, the service was slow, even adjusting for the size of the brunch crowd. It might be local, but a gem it is not.

Simply overrated! The service was beyond awful. Our waitress never gave us a refill, and when she did finally make an appearance, reeked of cigarette smoke, guess I know why she disappeared. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about, at least nothing to review about anyway, I can get better at several other locations with similar menus. Why is this place always packed?

Ate here while on our way home to Louisville KY. Saw reviews that recommended it as family friendly for our 20 month old. It was a great environment. I got the lasagna and it was above average. However our server was quite rude and short, which really downgraded the quality of our experience which is unfortunate. Other servers looked friendly.

Food was great and so was service until a large party came in. Our waitress was running as hard as she could but other staff where standing around doing nothing. They should have stepped up to help. It took us 15 minutes to get to house boxes and our bill so that we could leave during lunch. We were late during our business lunch hour.

Some food was decent like the fries and chicken, but our group decided to order a pizza as well. That was the finishing touch. It was soaked to the crust with grease and every one of us were sick to our stomach despite not even finishing our food. The service was average and the prices were fine, but we will not be going back.

Every time we come to Charlottesville this is always our first stop. They have wonderful breakfast and amazing staff. Its a fixture in the town so Id suggest you try not going during peek times if you can possibly swing it as there will almost always be a wait time on the weekends.

I like tip top. The food was 85% or 90% good following by people and design. It is the first restaurant in Charlottesville, Va. The hamburger was fake {not real meat}, there was only water and it was possibly renovated. It is the oldest eating establishment in Virginia.

Just an all-around good place for an inexpensive breakfast. A regular American diner with nice waitresses that call you "Hun." Popular with all types of folks on the weekends. They have hearty pancakes and a breakfast corn cake that will make you never want to leave the South.

Food is your average run of the mill greasy spoon. Nothing special. We went on a Sunday around brunch and it was overflowing with people (lots of screaming kids and chaos). They are fast and efficient but the dining experience sucks as you are packed in like sardines.

Breakfast was a big disappointment. Toast had some type of oily melted something that didnt taste at all like butter. Potatoes were seasoned with paprika, and more like steamed than fried. Banana pancakes had flavoring but no bananas. Coffee and service were good.

Good recommendation from a local while passing through town. Food was very good and priced well. Service could have been a little better but think she had too many tables. Only real complaint was the bathrooms were ice cold.

Went there tonight. All the food was good, but the service was SLOWWWWW. Dont know if my little party of three threw the waitress for a loop or what, but we fell through the cracks. it will be a long time before we go back.

Friendly and quick service, and excellent food. This is a step above traditional greasy spoon diners, though the prices are still low. I would highly recommend Tip Top for a quick breakfast if youre in the area!

Consistently a great diner for breakfast. Classic dishes plus more unique things like buckwheat pancakes. Service is very fast and they have a lot of seating so usually not a long wait even when its busy.

Cooley a remarkable location with great food and easy atmosphere which can get pretty crowded in the daytime as well as for lunch however, the food is excellent well cooked and the view is spectacular.

Food was good and came out very fast. Service was adequate. Ic it hadnt been for the loud mouthed woman behind us cussing in front of my 10 yr old granddaughter it would have been a great experience
