Wow - what a pleasant surprise this place was! We went on a Sunday evening. We were there early enough to get a table, but it did fill up quickly so will likely try to get a reservation in the future. The service was prompt and friendly, and our waitress was able to answer all our questions about the cocktail and entree menus. We dont have food allergies, but they seemed quite willing to customize food to accommodate any allergies or even any dislikes. We started with two small salads, the cobb and the Mediterranean. Both were fantastic, and generously sized for a side salad. The only (very small) complaint was that they ran out of fresh bread just before we should have gotten ours. Even so, the waitress was able to get the kitchen to grill up some ciabatta bread to go with our salads. Our entrees were a chicken risotto and salmon with fettucine, and both were excellent. The prices here were quite reasonable, especially compared to other fine dining establishments in town with the same quality of food. We will definitely be back!

It was okay, maybe a little overpriced. I had the 10oz strip steak, and it was really more of a medium than a medium rare. It tasted like a steak. Like if I went to Harris Teeter and bought a steak and overcooked it a little, then put some salted butter on top? The same. The broccoli was weirdly undercooked in spots. I had one floret that was half cooked and half not. I mean, what? The mashed potatoes were exceptionally good, though. Thems some serious spuds. The cocktails are expensive, so I was hoping the burnt orange old fashioned ($14) would impress me--but it was tiny and too sweet, lacking in complexity of flavor. It cant possibly have contained more than half an ounce of the promised Makers Mark. Not a bad meal. Id go again, try something else--their seafood dishes looked good--and save my fancy old fashioned money for the Whiskey Jar.

Burtons Grill is a staple of ours whenever we are in the Stonefield Shops area or have to go someplace up 29. They have a great selection of good food that is not overly fussy but still has a bit of class to it. Service is generally very good. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Cocktails we have had are also great. The only issue is that often once we have been checked on after getting our meal it is a long time before we see our server again. However, we have found this to be common all over Charlottesville (even in restaurants more expensive than this), so Im not knocking off a star for a problem the whole town is plagued with. Might just be that we are used to midwestern service style.

First time there we thought it was a pretty cool, but faux bistro, though the bartender was very uninformed on the available local brews or how to serve them. Food was good, but not exceptional. Second time the experience was average. Seemed they were coming down from an opening high. Third time was the last. Hostesses ignored my 94 year old mother with a walker and pointed us to the bar though we requested one of the several open booths in the dining room. Service was ok, but not great. Food was decidedly average. With all of the locally owned and operated restaurants in C-ville theres no reason to throw your money away on another homogenous chain.

My son has life-threatening allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Burtons Grill is the only sit-down restaurant we can go to safely, and we are so lucky! The food is consistently excellent, and the service is incredible. Waitstaff are patient and understanding regarding our allergies, and the managers themselves bring our food to the table, on a square plate which designates a food-allergy order. Its difficult to place your trust in other people when your childs life is on the line. But thats what we do at Burtons because they have proved time and again that they really "get it." Side benefit is the fantastic food.

The food was decent - I had the Philly spring rolls and the salmon main - but my server was in my face all the way through the meal. I couldnt order quickly enough, there was basically no gap between the starter and the main (so I decided not to stay to get rushed through dessert) and the bill came while I was finishing my glass of wine with no question as to whether I needed anything else. The place wasnt packed so its not like they needed a table... if you want a quick meal, go here (as in, I was done within the hour). If you want time to enjoy your food, dont bother.

I came here for the first time for a company team building lunch and we were seated in this great private-ish room that fit everyone comfortably. This was in December (I believe when they just opened) and they were so happy that we chose their location. The food was good then, but I had some basic options like the buffalo dip (always a winner). I went for a second time the other weekend and splurged and got the Scallop Risotto and my boyfriend chose the FIlet Mignon and they were INCREDIBLE. I will save for another special occasion and certainly come back. Enjoy!

It has a very nice atmosphere but not enough areas to get through to make a reservation or to get to the front to be seated. The waitress was very friendly and did her job well and checked on us frequently. The adult drinks had no alcohol, it had the flavor of alcohol but never came close to a buzz(Im a light weight) still nothing! The food came out fast but for a restaurant that says its made from scratch in house i was quite disappointed with the food! The flavors were not up to what I was expecting from what others has told me!

Staying in Charlottesville for appointments at UVA and looking for good, safe gluten free restaurants. Actually, we did take out(too tired after visiting Monticello, which is another awesome review). Next time in the area, we will be going in!! They were amazing on the phone, asking about food allergies and sensitivities. My food came boxed with an allergen label. I got the turkey sandwich, with cucumber salad. Had to get the Vanilla Marscipone Cheesecake with berry Compote. Everything was delicious!!

Burtons is a made-from-scratch restaurant with a beautiful contemporary atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious! (I do not use that word lightly.) The servers and chefs are especially accommodating for anyone with allergies. Ive never eaten anywhere that does as much as they do to suit each customers individual requests, whether or not allergies are an issue. Even special desserts were offered. I took my Chocolate Torte home to eat by the fire - a perfect end to a perfectly lovely meal.

Its been a long time since Ive had such a delectable gluten-free burger. The beef, the toppings...the bun! What a bun. GF, but held together until the end (which was, admittedly, very fast...it was that good!) With attentive and well-trained staff, a great atmosphere, and delicious food its not going to be cheap, but I consider it an excellent value. Ive now taken my daughter there on a "date", as well as had lunch with my boss. Excellent visits, looking forward to returning!

The food is good, but overpriced. however, our server Jessica was the best server weve ever had! Friendly, helpful with the menu, mindful of getting us refills on our drinks in a flash, very attentive. We felt like we were the only customers she had even though that wasnt the case. Jessica deserves a raise! Thanks Jessica for outstanding customer service! Thats hard to find these days.
