July 11..317 pm…I was pissed !!!!! There was a young male host that was very rude and arrogant. I guess we interrupted his conversation with his fellow workers. He was not nice nor was he welcoming towards us, as he took us through the restaurant he took us to a bad table (by the kitchen doors) then I took another open table by the window... There were not many people there at the restaurant.. There was about 20 empty tables, why he took me to the worst table of the restaurant, I dont know...I asked if we can have another table but this ass-hole of a host grabbed the menus off the table I picked and lightly slammed the menus on another table making a point to me and with a righteous, condescending attitude he told me, "We have a system rotation we do here so this is your table. I said "Excuse me!!" and he turned his back and walked away but continued to make comments as he left. He showed us he was annoyed with us. Like I had some nerve.. I walked back to the little snub work area and asked what did you say and he toned it down, but did not apologize. He still made his point to me, like it was beneath him. Could not believe it, I turned and I heard him lightly laughed... OK!!! Fighting the urge to play a game of kicking the ass of a snobbish jerk, I walked back to my table. I wanted to leave . but my friend wanted to try the food. Our waitress came over and greeted us, she asked us how our day was and I told her my day was going great until my run in with the rude host and she apologized but to my surprise she was not very sincere. She looked at us like SO!!??... Then…Ok what do you want to drink?...My question to that restaurant is “Does any worker there like working there or enjoy working there?.. As one can see from the many past visitors, of the comments they left. I wanted to ask to speak to the manger, but our waitress turned away and gave the table next to us their bill...Three people in the group wanted separate bills to pay...In a rude way she told them we dont allow separate bills...That group was astounded and were left to figure out to pay the bill. You got to be friggin kidding me is this restaurant a joke......Our waitress came back and asked us what we wanted (she asked us as if she was bored!!) and I said “Nothing” and walked out…Here is the kicker of rudeness...she said, "bye"!!! This restaurant relies on its reputation for being the creator of Buffalo Wings. It is sad, so much history and it is the attitude that killing the resturaunt…Once word of mouth gets out about how horrible their service is.. people will stop going and I hope words gets out!!!

We were visiting from Toronto and were told to check it out. I love chicken wings especially Duffs in Toronto and couldnt wait to go to the "original" wing place. My wife and I got there about 30 minutes after it opened and there was a line of course. We put our names at the front and then waited near the hallway to the bathrooms for our name to be called. It was really busy in there and most people were standing and waiting as to be expected and we didnt have much room. We were minding our own business, looking at all the stuff on the walls and talking amongst ourselves when a lady approached us from the other end of the hallway and said something to my wife in a hushed voice. She couldnt hear her and thought that maybe she was an employee asking her to move further from the bathroom entrance or something. At worst she thought it might be someone asking for money or something. Turns out the lady worked in the kitchen and was accusing my wife of making racial slurs against one of her workers. She said that her employee was in the kitchen crying because she had accidentally bumped into my wife and my wife had called her a n*****r. Not only was the completely false and a fabrication, but I couldnt believe that we were being accused of this. I don;t feel the need to justify the extent of our middle class Canadian liberalism on this forum, but let it be said that not only was this completely out of character for my wife, but WE were EXTREMELY offended. We told her that we had not spoken to anyone. She insisted on the matter and I got angry with her and told her to drop it because it wasnt true. We were seated a few minutes later and staff from the kitchen kept coming out and looking at us. This was the most horrible and uncomfortable dining experience I have ever had. We finished half our meal, paid, and left disgusted. Plus the wings were vastly inferior to what I had expected and dont rate any where near those of duffs in Toronto. They were way too greasy and tasted like dirty fryer oil. Back to the incident..all I can surmise is that an employee came in to work and wanted to leave early and used my wife as a reason to get sent home OR just got a case of mistaken identity...either way it was a disgusting experience and I will never return. The management employing these workers should be ashamed.

The wings were outstanding as per usual BUT two things really stick with me. First when we checked in with the hostess(3) we were told a 30 minute wait, for a Friday night thats ok. After 30 minutes we were still standing there I asked 3 times where we were on the list and was advised we were moving up but still faced a wait. To make a long story short they somehow scratch our name off the list!! I dont know how that could happen we were standing right in front of them!! Your hostess should be your best and brightest employee these girls were far from that........they were overwhelmed. So after ONE HOUR AND FORTY FIVE Minutes we were seated. It gets worse. They had a Jazz band playing in the room we were seated in and they were so loud I could not talk to the person next to me! When they werent loud the equipment failed and squealed. My question to the ownership is why do you need a band in the first place. Your restaurant is full and people just want there meal and a quiet conversation with the people they came with!! If you insist on a band why not have the volume at a level where people can carry on a conversation. I thought my experience warranted a phone call on the Monday surprise ...........they didnt answer their phone. Their product is excellent and has a seller reputation but we would be very reluctant to repeat the experience we had last Friday night and will be more than happy to share our experience with our friends.

After reading the hordes of varying reviews on the Anchor Bar, my wife and I stopped in on our way back from Niagara Falls, as I suspect many others do. Honestly its almost pointless for me State my opinion of the wings, because honestly everyone really does have their own personal wing preference. My personal preference is a smaller, crsipier wing - half of the reviews state that thats what youre going to get - in my experience they were quite large and not very crispy. After reading so many different reviews, I would assume that the size of the wings changes daily, depending on what the restaurant receives. My wife and I both ordered our wings extra crispy, not sure if that request was overlooked or not, but our wings werent what I would considered crisp. I went with the hotter sauce, it wasnt too hot and pretty spot-on for taste, I enjoyed it. Be careful of the mild, as Ive read its basically a naked wing with pepper and butter. Sweet potato waffle fries were delicious, a good pub style side. Draft beer was decent, and cold. Although I hate to say that one of the bartenders could have cared less about us being there. The other was attentive when she was behind the bar. As everyone else says: if youre passing through, stop in to say that you did, but I cant say I would return. Ive heard better things about Duffs.
