My friend and I selected this restaurant because it offered a reasonable gift certificate and it was near a place we were visiting. We ordered house margaritas (although sizable, it was too much sour mix, not enough tequila) and chips with salsa and guacamole (salsa was super watery and guac was mediocre). Our entrees came out at a reasonable time, but my friends crab meat and scallop fajita was the first Ive ever seen that didnt sizzle (she decided to order something else...only to be told that the kitchen was closed. A staff member then offered her a late night menu that consisted of appetizers and desserts...then a kitchen staff came out to ask about her entree and told her that he could fix her new entree). My redfish tacos were yummy (soft flour tortilla with fried redfish, lettuce tomato and sour cream), but the side of beans and rice were not (they were lukewarm). The service was a little slow (our bartender didnt check back within two minutes of our dinner being served; in fact, Id finished my tacos by the time a staff person acknowledged my friend). The guy who came from the kitchen apologized for the sucky fajita entree and advised that the new entree would be out ASAP. Although the restaurant closes at 2AM on a Saturday, the kitchen closes at 11PM and the late night menu ends at 1AM.

Tired of those people poor bombing this place. Understand, its a bar, and after 7, nobody is going to greet you, because the host goes home and it goes full bar, which means find your own seat, and trust me, the bartenders see you as soon as you walk in without a doubt, but your not the only customer, so dont act and review like you are. Yea, service can take a minute, but its a busy bar at night. Duting the day, not bad, happy hour picks up, late night after 9 is when it gets busy. Ive been here for over two years, and the people are friendly, the bar staff has ups and downs, but theyre always a good time, the drinks are good, sometimes a bit heavy, but im not complaining. The food has gotten MUCH better, and now, every day of the week something is happening. Poker, bands, parties, something is always happeneing here. Want a good happy hour with the best prices for the area? Red rocks. Good food, and good people? Red rocks. At night, yes, it gets busy, and you might wait an extra few minutes for a drink or food, but the bartenders do their job and do it well, so if its busy, be ready to wait, but be prepared to be satisfied. Red rocks is definitely a place worth stopping by once in a while.

The food was surprisingly delicious...Mexicanish with some additional less Mexican options if you dont feel like Mexican (Mexican-ified pasta and steaks). The thinnest crispy taco shells, seemingly hand formed. Chunky refried beans were great; had a smokey black pepper flavor. Well-seasoned, properly cooked rice. Service was a bit slow due to large groups, but it was with with a huge smile. Everyone that we saw working seemed genuinely happy and relaxed. The tequila list included at least 5 mezcals, something thats still rare in this area. Wed come back again if just for the mezcal. Also had surprising beers on tap, e.g., Left Hand and Bells. When we received the bill it was surprisingly lower than we had expected, but was completely accurate--a nice break from normal NoVA prices. Note: theres a $1fee for credit cards.

Bad service, forgettable food, and a limited selection of beer during happy hour. Also the house margaritas are weak and taste like otter pops. Edit: The owner originally left a very rude, and racist comment as response to my review, then immediately deleted it. Saying, and I quote "This guy Abe Shabbar was the most rude prick thats ever entered my bar. Glad hes gone. Trump will deport this one" The owner and his children then began stalking everyone who shared the image or left a negative review on facebook and leaving lies and slander on their work place. Please think twice before supporting a business that promotes racism, bigotry, and is willing to flat out lie and tarnish peoples good names over a stupid little online review.

I wholeheartedly recommend Red Rocks for a quick, tasty and cost effective Mexican meal. My family and I have just eaten here for the third time. The food has been consistently very good and an excellent value, with ample portions. They have items other than Mexican and all of the food we’ve had was good, but we have been particularly pleased with the various Mexican platters we’ve tried. Nicely seasoned in the Tex-Mex style, but not drowned in hot sauce. Informal, family friendly atmosphere in a fairly small dining room. Although not up my alley anymore, they also appear to have an active and popular Tequila bar, but it is removed from the dining room.

The prices are good, but has some of the worst bar service I have ever encountered. I waited at the bar to get served for about 10 minutes. The ratio of bartenders to people was roughly 1/3, so very unacceptable wait times. On a positive note, the live band they had playing the night I was there was very good. The icing on the cake was a bartender clearing glasses around the bar that ripped a drink from my hands as I was finishing it with 5 minutes to closing time, just because someone a few feet away from me was booing at his friend for not finishing his drink. If u like slow/incompetent service, go here, else skip this place.

Last time we went, the bartender added drinks to our tab. When we called her out on it, she was very apologetic and said it was an accident. This past time, instead of writing $8.20 for a tip, somehow my tip turned into $82.00. Even though my copy had $8.20, the manager told me it was $82.00 when I called to question. Even if I left $82.00 the bartender should have known not to put through a 200% tip. Thank goodness it didnt read $8200.00 or I would be out of my savings. This establishment is shady and not worth your time. I want to go somewhere where I feel welcomed, not where I have to watch staff.

I read the reviews on here and considered checking this out with a group of my girlfriends. I saw on the Virginia Karaoke Website they had karaoke every Wednesday and Sunday - so I called to verify so we dont make a wasted trip. Rather than just saying, "Sorry we only do it on Sundays. Where did you get that information from so we can correct it and by the way we offer **** Wednesday nights" I got a rude dude on the phone biting my freggin head off. Just lost 10 Alcoholic here rude dude. All from a little phone call. I wont even consider stepping near this place.

The happy hour deals are very good. The service was good, as well, with multiple wait staff passing by to make sure that everything is alright. I ordered the basic steak fajitas. The portions are plentiful and everything was well seasoned and fresh. They also have an outstanding tequila selection, along with other mixed drinks. Their beer selection is passable, with the usual Miller, Yuengling, etc. But, they also had some local microbrews that were very good. I will definitely be going back.

All of the food at this place is awesome! I dont know where all the other reviews came from unless theyre younger kids but this is certainly a place for about 35 and over. You can have a great time there, even the customers are wonderful. They serve a drink called a Jimmy Buffett Margarita and it is amazing!! It is much different than a margarita but it starts off with a basic margarita.
