Let me first start off with I am a fan of cafe Rio. I work in Germantown md. I eat there at least once a week but more like 2 to 3 times a week. I live in Frederick. I have tried frederick cafe Rio twice. The first time the food was prepared poorly and lacking flavorand the food looked dry and a mess. I thought this was just a bad day and perhaps I had been a bit to hard. I gave it another go tonight (Oct 9 2015). I arrived at 8:10 pm with my daughter I tow. There were 4 employees. Three ladies and a man. When I walked up to the counter to place my order the first thin I noticed was the mess. The place looked like a bomb went off. The red head lady in the back proceeded to tell the other ladies " I dont care I will fing sue this place." I thought man I am sure she did not want me to hear that. Nope looked right at me and continued to talk crap about her employer. Then one of the other ladies started to walk towards me. Only to grab a tortilla for someone else. Keep in mind there is no one in line or paying. Then the two ladies begin to clean. (Throw stuff from the counter to the floor) I spoke up twice asking if someone could help. Both ignored me. I looked to the manager, he noticed me while leaning on the counter drink soda. He asked the ladies to help me. To which one lady pointed to the other who choose not to acknoladge and kept pouring the dressing into some cup. Neither made eye contact. I walked out having been there for 12-15 min without being even said hello to . this place is going to fail.

I never write online reviews, but I have just had it with this location. The food at Cafe Rio is great, but I hate visiting this location. A majority of the people that work here are rude and not attentive. EVERYTIME I come in they are always out of steak and while I understand that it is popular, they never make more. Unlike their competitors... I have visited at 8 pm and earlier when they have run out, hours before closing and they refuse to make more. I am not sure why they are not better prepared when its evident that they always run out. I have never had Chipotle tell me they wont make more or are just "out". I would think that when you are already presented with only a few options to make your meal, that all options would always be available. Truth be told I prefer Cafe Rio, but recently I Have Stopped doing business here and have gone to chipotle instead. As well, They never fill up a container of Guac and also have argued with me about how its 4oz. Which yes, the container is, but not the amount of Guac you get. If it were cheaper i wouldn’t mind...I hope this changes, so that I can dine out at Cafe Rio in Frederick again.

I went here on a Saturday for lunch. I noticed the 2-piece Enchilada for $7.79, and imagined that it would be a filling meal for me. I received an aluminum foil pie pan which contained two very small tortillas with a minuscule amount of chicken in them. The rice and beans on the side were also in a pretty small amount. I asked for them to make it as spicy as possible, but it was pretty bland. I was nowhere near full. I would have much rather preferred receiving a plate or other serving device which was actually near the size of the meal that I was given. However, the people who work there are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. If you are looking for a decent lunch, dont buy the enchiladas, or just go somewhere else.

I am a Taco Tuesday regular at this location. and place my order online weekly. When I first started coming here the service was great, my order was accurate and prepared promptly for the time that Id requested on my order, but for the past couple of months the service has depleted dramatically, the orders are made wrong 95% of the time and Ive also had to wait up to 40 minutes past my scheduled order time, all with nothing free or discounted to show for it. Theres a way to keep your regulars coming anf its to compensate them for time lost on YOUR part. I certainly hope they put a hiring sign on the door, because while I can understand youre trying your best, your lack of help is not my problem.

All around great dining experience. The restaurant is arranged nicely and very cute with the painted chairs, the employees are helpful (especially with the coupons that can get confusing at times), and the food is so so so good. The best are the handmade tortillas that you can see being made in restaurant. These are soft and chewy and make the entire meal just that much better. The daily specials are something to watch for. Saturdays shrimp tacos are well worth the wait through the week. Make sure to download the app if you are a frequent visitor, it will save you loads.

Ive been to the original location in Utah and there is a reason why theyve expanded to the East Coast. Great food, fast service, big portions, and a great rewards program. They braise their pork in Dr. Pepper for 24 hours (is what I was told a long time ago) and their lime vinaigrette dressing on the salad are my personal faves. However, the big hit is the burrito enchilada style which they prepare on the spot. The tortillas are fresh and made on the premises. Even though you will likely be very full after the meal, dont sleep on the tres leches which is amazing.

Love the food, some of the best in the business. I typically visit this particular location about once a week. I do wonder about their staff at times. From some that are extremely friendly to others that Ive never seen Crack a smile. A major reason for visiting an establishment for me is customer service. For food, quality and taste I give 5 stars, for customer service a star is lost. Ive also had multiple issues of requesting extra meat and being charged a premium for it but not receiving it. Make sure you watch your server!

Updated 5/13/2016: After the Taco Tuesday special disappeared from the "Todays Special" menu, I was disheartened. However, I discovered that Cafe Rio - Frederick still honors the Taco Tuesday special and you dont even have to ask for it. So I am updating my review from 2 to 4 stars. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the wait that I often experience at lunchtime on Tuesdays, sometimes exceeding 20 minutes standing in line. This is a bit too long, but I am willing to wait because of the quality and value.

Food is good because its so fresh.customer service needs lots of work...it was very hard to understand the employees and everything wasnt labeled to help you out with making a decision on what toppings to choose! I went there for the first time and I thought the experience would be better then it was...I was a little disappointed! Feel like the the servers were rude and had an attitude problems meaning they werent very friendly or welcoming.Being in foodservice that is very important! I wouldnt be in a hurry to go back!
