Along with Honey Pig, Yechon, Oegadgib, Il Mee, Kogiya is another staple Korean BBQ joint in Annandale. Having opened in March 2013, Kogiya is fairly new but in my opinion, outranks all above-mentioned Korean BBQ places. Kogiya offers AYCE options. For $20.99, you can get chadol bakgi (fatty brisket), sam kyup sal (pork belly), jang sam kyup sal (spicy pork belly), miso sam kyup sal (miso pork belly), and dak galbi (spicy chicken). 5 types of meats for just $20.99/pp. Or for $27.99/pp, you get the the above options AND koep chang (small intestines), dae chang (large intestines), and mak chang (beef abomasums). Meat quality is really good for everything. On top of this, you get unlimited sides (kimchi, bean sprouts, seaweed, pickled radish, potato salad) and rice, the steamed egg, and doenjang jjigae (soy bean paste soup). Youll also get thick-cut onions, mushrooms, and sliced squash to be charred. What a steal! There are three sauces: sesame oil and salt, and two sweet and salty house sauces. Everything, from all your favorite banchan plates, meats, and sauces, is brought to you (or already waiting when your table is ready). Just remember that if you order either the AYCE option A or B, everyone at the table has to order it too (makes sense but needs to be highlighted). Aside from the AYCE options, you can also order combos or beef, pork, or seafood, as well as an array of appetizers, soups, and noodles. They have a lunch special where you can pick a meat and a soup/noodle dish for just $10. Staff is probably the friendliest in all Korean BBQ places in Annandale. Ive never had to use the tongs and cook the meats myself because the staff keeps circling back to help cook everything. Theyre fast and efficient. Service is top notch, even when the restaurant is packed with people. Best part of Kogiya is that unlike Honey Pig or some of the other Korean BBQ places, I dont feel super gross and heavy when Im done eating and they have long ventilation tubes hovering over the grill pans so I dont smell like meat for days on end. Environment is group-friendly and you can actually hear the other people in your party talk. They have a TV that plays Korean music videos, but it is by no means drowning out conversations with your friends which is appreciated. Looks modern and industrial inside. Love their stainless-steel tables which has a pull-out compartment that stores stainless-steel chopsticks, spoons, and napkins. Great idea if you need extra utensils or napkins. The stools double as storage ottomans for your purse and other belongings. At the end of your meal, they offer complimentary cups of iced coffee or slices of oranges. Parking is small and tight like all places in Annandale, but surprisingly Ive never had trouble finding a spot. This place is definitely getting more popular and busier though, so this might change in the future. Final note, protip: call ahead and put your name down on the waitlist for a table.

Went on the 4th of July for for the all you can eat bbq. Surprisingly it was not that crowded, which my group was really happy about. We picked Option A, and compared to Option B, I dont think there was a loss (Option B has more food items, but higher price). There was so meat alone, that we did not bother with the side dishes. The meat was very good, especially the seasoned meat (miso and spicy flavored pork!!) There was a slight cause for concern in terms of sanitation because when the employees were placing the meat on the grill, some fell and hit the table.. and the tables dont look that clean (just your typical wipe down).. They just put in on the grill. Its been 5 days and I havent gotten sick so I guess its fine? Besides that, the employees were helpful, but always on the go. You really have to flag them down if you need something, but in this fast paced environment its understandable. Speaking of environment, I wish they had chairs with back support instead of the ottoman like chairs they had. When youre sitting there for 1ish or more hours eating to your hearts content, its kind of hard to relax if youre forced to sit up. Extremely satisfied with my experience. Despite what I said near the end of this review, if you primarily care about value of the meal (like me) than for $25~ all you can eat bbq, you cant beat it. I only mentioned the other stuff to make the review a bit rounder.

I really liked this restaurant, the food is really great. I like having access to silverware without asking the waiter, and the ability to put my handbag/jacket inside my seat. Ive been back a few times because I love Korean food. This place does serve lettuce with Korean BBQ (As all places should, but there are a few places Ive been to that dont). I like some of their waiters, but others are not my favorite (been brought incorrect meals/charged extra for random things where I havent been changed before/water never gets filled). However, I understand mix-ups and them being busy. One time I went and some other customers insisted on having the window open, which created a bunch of wind (in a packed restaurant) because of the air pressure inside. Wish the server would tell them to close it, but I had to spend my meal shouting to my friend right next to me. Overall a good place, but it would be great to have a second restaurant so that the crowd would dilute a little bit. I once went and was told their next available table would be at 9PM. It was like 2pm on a Thursday. Thats my bad, you should call ahead with the popularity of this place.

If you venture out to Annadale, you are offered many, many options for Korean food, but Ive always wondered which was the best. Two trusted friends swore Kogiya was the best so we went out there to try it and left thinking they are right. You walk in and you feel like youre in Seoul. There is one big dining room with several long, tin tables that sit 8-12 people with two burners per table. They also have one (maybe two) private room for bigger parties. There was four of us so we ordered the large beef option and we left very full. The large beef option came with several beef options all very good and unlimited sides like kimchi and rice. My wife and friends ordered Korean beer and, of course, I ordered Angry Orchard hard cider. At the end, they offer you either fresh orange slices or the best sweetened, ice coffee youll ever have. A few things to note: 1) The tables are a little larger so you feel a tiny bit far away from the person across from you. 2) Call ahead if you are going on a weekend. We had a reservation at 7:40PM, but it took about 45-60 minutes to get seated. This place is popular!

I just came here for lunch yesterday to catch up with some out-of-towners who had never had Korean BBQ before and we all really loved it! I was excited to find a place that serves All-You-Can-Eat specials because that is definitely the way to eat Korean BBQ! We made a reservation at 1130 on a rainy Saturday for a party of 5 + a baby but when we got there it was mostly empty tables so definitely the earlier the better! It is a small place though so if youre coming at a busier time definitely make a reservation ahead - they recommend one day in advance. The standout dishes for me included the spicy chicken which was not cooked on grill - so good to order first if youre hungry, the miso pork belly which was simply AMAZING/unique/delicious/would come back just for this, and the beef bulgogi - not on the $23 all-you-can-eat menu but definitely a must-have for first time KBBQers. Some squash, onion, and mushroom came with the various meats which was also really delicious and their sides were yummy too! I will definitely come back here, probably early again to make sure we get a table quickly!
