Well, I heard this place had good food, so I drove 30 minutes each way to try it. Most great smokehouses or bbq joints you can smell when youre either near the place or when you drive up. No smoke smell, at all. They have a large menu with lots to choose from. All meats come reheated with sauce on them. I do not want mines with sauce, I will add my sauce at the table so I can taste the meat. Ordered half a pound of brisket and babyback ribs (sauce on the side) and the beans with beef and the homemade fries the cashier swears are the most delicious sides. And a Yengling. Ribs looked decent when they came to the table, no smoke smell. Opened up the Styrofoam container that held the beef brisket, no smell. First thing I was told a long time ago, if your meat is cut thin, its overcooked or too tough to serve regular slices. Beef was cut very thin and had zero flavor, unless you call it being heated over a gas fire flavor? I dont. Strike one. On to the baby back ribs. Nice and small (as most pork back ribs are) and warm in temp from the gas grill, but bland! Zero rub or smoke flavor!! How is this possible?! Strike two. The house-made french fries were over-cooked and mostly burnt, but they taste ok when drowned in my side of bbq sauce. As for the beef beans, if you like chunks of flavorless brisket mixed with pork and beans from a can, youll love these! Strike THREE! On a brighter note, I did give this gas grilling restaurant (do not dare call this Barbecue or BBQ) a star because of how cold my beer was! Best item on the menu! Truly diappointing cause the cashier and other employees seemed friendly. Had high expectations from people who said they hadnt been there in years, but from what they remembered, it was good. Not true anymore. If the owner of this spot is reading this, hey bro, I recommend you start using real wood to cook/smoke your meats and Google some side dish recipes cause what I had I wouldnt, or should I say, shouldnt, have paid more than $5 for. Truly disappointed customer.

Wow! I have not experienced authentic Carolina BBQ before, but this was phenomenal. We had them cater our cousins wedding rehearsal dinner and the food they brought was incredible. Short list of items we had: Carolina Pulled Pork, BBQ Ribs, both BBQ and fried Chicken, Cole Slaw, and Beans The Beans and cole slaw were your typical sides, but very yummy indeed. Vinegar based sauce instead of creamy, as expected from Carolina style. The Ribs were falling off the bone and very meaty. They tasted great without added sauce, but tasted even better with a lil bit of sauce to dip them in and add that extra bump of flavor. Fried Chicken was ok, nothing to write home about, but crunchy and good. BBQ chicken had a nice crust of paprika and other spices and if you are one of those eaters who picks off the chicken skin before you eat your chicken, then you are missing the best part here!!! Juicy and flavorful with a lil extra kick from the spices cooked in to the skin. And now for the best part... the Carolina Pork BBQ. OMG! I am no BBQ expert, but do love to eat it and am enough of a foodie to know a thing or two about when something is done right. And this is done perfectly! The pork is served shredded style and is multi-colored showing the nice pink insides and the darker cripsy edges. Mixed in was just enough of a sauce to keep the meat wet without being overpowering. It tasted more like a Hawaiian style pulled pork would be, with red pepper flakes and a bit of a sweet and sour flavor, but definitely vinegar based. I had it both by itself, and in a sandwich with some cole slaw and sauce and would have been willing to try it another 5 different ways if there were options! Cant wait to visit the actual restaurant, as their catering business is a gold star experience!

My fiancée (now wife) and I went to Beach Bully to have lunch because we scheduled them to do catering for pre-wedding festivities on a recommendation and wanted to taste it ourselves. It was delicious. Im a Texas boy, so anytime Im not in Texas I avoid brisket because its usually disappointing. I ordered the pork sandwich with mac and cheese; my fiancée ordered the brisket sandwich with baked beans, which they call "beef and beans." Surprisingly, both of the things she ordered were superior to both of the things on my plate. The brisket is delicious... Sliced super thin, it sort of melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with their mahogany sauce. The beans had a nice thickness to their sauce, as well as being suitably smokey and tender. The pork was nothing special, and along with the mac and cheese prevented Beach Bully from getting the full 5 stars. It was pretty vinegar-heavy, which is fine, but to me it lacked the punch of flavor that pulled pork is supposed to have. Maybe its because I couldnt find any smoke bark in my sandwich, and those little flavor grenades are essential to a good pulled pork. The mac and cheese was also... fine. It was just sort of boring. We went ahead with using them for the catering and Im tempted to bump the review up to perfect for that experience. They do an amazing job, provide all the utensils, including plates, forks, etc., and are very reasonably priced. We ordered plenty of food and people kept going back for seconds and thirds until it was all gone. If youre considering having them cater something, I say definitely go for it. Youll be pleased.

We had dinner here one night and absolutely loved it. The food is priced right and is slow cooked. It is real bar-b-que (or as real as the VA beach area can get when comparing to KC, Memphis, or St Louis). I had the pulled pork sandwhich and it was a large portion of non-fatty, excellently flavored meat. My wife had the ribs (after being disappointed at Watermans Grill the night before I tried something other than ribs) - but she got the King size which is a rack and a half. It was succulent - fell off the bone and into our mouths. The sauces were okay - I think they are 1 sauce away from being an outstanding restaraunt. But in any case - if you are in the Va Beach area - this is a must eat place!

Looking at the reviews I thought this place would be food but it was anything but... This place is mediocre at BEST! I ordered pulled pork and they asked if I also wantwd to buy a bun to make it a sandwich. Wow, thats a first! The food was bland and badly in need of sauce. I feek like I just filled up on bbq sauce. Dont waste your time. And the people upfront were not friendly or helpful at all considering my family and I were all wearing hats mostly worn by out of town visitors. Now I can understand why the place was empty. Only a matter of time before they close the doors for good! Never coming back.

This place is thee best beef, rib, BBQ chicken & more! You can actually order beef to your liking, rare (my fave), medium rare, etc. I do ask if they have rare left cuz sometimes, later in their day, it might be gone. There is NO grizzle ever in my beef sandwich (giant size of course) which is a shocker hey? Been going here a year+ too! Amazing sides, always fresh! The employees never cease to amaze me. It can be crazy busy & they always have time to tt you, answer questions, explain things, etc. If it is crazy busy, dont be surprised if you get a free drink or slaw while you wait!!
