Excellent moderately priced French bistro. This charming spot was a special surprise when we discovered it in the Hoffman movie area, and have been back many times. It has a warm, quaint, and inviting environment with friendly service, and authentic French fare. I have sampled many of the savory dishes from soups to beef and chicken - the meals and sauces were all delicious. I have also sampled brunch - eggs cooked in a variety of ways and delicious sweets - after dinner desserts and breakfast pastries - never a disappointment. This bistro is worthy of your time whether you plan to go to the movies or not. Its a lovely place to have dinner. As a moderately priced place to dine, its the perfect way to make an evening out to the movies far more special.

I have eaten here about half a dozen times and each time has been an extraordinarily excellent experience. The food is uniformly outstanding, for all diners in my party. I usually have the Steak Frites. My steak has always been done exactly the way I asked, and is extremely flavorful and succulent. The fish is among the very best weve ever had, and weve eaten in literally thousands of restaurants all over the world. The service is extremely responsive, accommodating, conscientous, and FRIENDLY. They absolutely bend over backwards to give you a most enjoyable time. Also the cocktails are perfectly made and LARGE. And the interior of the restaurant is most comfortable and relaxing. I most heartily recommend Yves Bistro.

Prime location (near a movie theater), but doesnt quite fit with the typical clientele of the area, which is probably why they dont do that much business. Ive been here twice during normal dinner hours, and its been pretty empty. Anyways...the restaurant is cozy, the service was very friendly, and our food was pretty good. We had the: -- brie cheese appetizer; if you like brie cheese, youll love this. Im not a huge fan and it certainly isnt the healthiest thing out there -- salmon filet with lentils and spinach; not the most flavorful thing in the world, but certainly very healthy and filling -- penne carbonara; isnt this an Italian dish...?! Overall nice meal, but nothing to call home about.

Vive la France! The duck salad lunch special was outstanding! The poached pears had a wonderful texture and light sweetness that complimented the savory duck and goat cheese sharp tartness. Yum! The duck portion was generous and cooked perfectly. Very juicy and tender! The price $11. The wine by the glass prices were reasonable with plenty of varietal variety. The bar appears to be fully stocked. Presently they are running a $30 special to include select two entrees, dessert and two glasses of wine. Only available on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. I will be trying this next week.

LOVE YVES WHEN HE IS AROUND - THE PLACE SHINES JUST AS IF WE WERE IN PARIS -- OR THE OLD PIED DU COUCHON IN GEORGETOWN!!! THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT, NICE PORTIONS AND ALWAYS VERY FRENCH, LIKE THE ATMOSPHERE.. SOMETIMES THEY HAVE FRENCH SINGERS JUST LIKE IN THE LITTLE BACK STREET BISTROS IN FRANCE - PARKING IS EASY AND PRICES ARE STILL AMONG THE LEAST EXPENSIVE IN THE WASHINGTON AREA FOR THIS KIND OF FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE -- IF YOU WANT TO LINGER OVER MORE WINE AND COFFEE AND CONVERSATION, THEY DO NOT CHASE YOU OUT LIKE OTHER RESTAURANTS THAT WANT YOUR TABLE.. MANY THANKS!!

Ive been here twice and enjoyed it both times. However, I cant recommend any of the more traditional French cuisine because I still havent tried it. The first time I ate here I had the lamb curry, more or less on a whim, and I loved it so much I had to go back a second time. Also, I should mention that on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings, they offer a $34 dinner for two special, which includes two meals and a bottle of wine. Overall, Yves was a wonderful experience! I will be going back. P.S. You must try the lamb curry.

First of all Sunday Brunch isnt bad at all. Service is slow. Prices are reasonable. But, Tonight 1/19/2013, I brought a party of ten. Service was very slow, only 1 server to serve us all. We waited over an hour for our dinner. Waitstaff never came by to ask about our dishes, refill our wine glasses. The food was humdrum lack of spice. The prices were expensive for what we got. I was charged 18% gratuity on top of it. Not again

My wife and I found the dinner to be spectacular. The seafood stew, or Cioppino, which is a favorite of mine was the best that Ive had. Considering that it had substantial portions of a wide range of seafood varieties, all expertly cooked, it was a delight and well worth the price. The overall atmosphere and service all contributed to a great evening and I would gladly return.

this is a great little place to eat. Its never crowded, which is a bit weird. But the food is really really good. The service is...okay. They arent particularly friendly but they arent rude either. They are...effective. The french onion soup is yummy and the Beef stew is awesome! The quiche Lorraine is delish! And it is reasonably priced. A definite place to stop.

Where to start? Made reservations (3 times on the phone - because they all dont speak english) - STILL failed to reserve our table. Dinner - uneatable (blackened mahi-mahi); poor fish. Waiter tried to save evening - only part of the dining "experience" that was ok. No longer the Bistro Yves opened so many years ago. Bon chance!

Outstanding!! I never write reviews, but I needed to run home and write one right away for Yves. The soups were outstanding - very healthy portions for a great price. Herbs and spices were fantastic! Service was very pleasant. Atmosphere made for a very nice lunch out with my wife. I will make this my regular restaurant.

This place has a good brunch. Very reasonable prices relative to the area. Ill definitely return. Update: I came back for dinner and was disappointed. The roasted chicken I had was extremely dry and the sauce was a bit off. I probably wouldnt actively recommend this place to others.

The Lamb Curry Stew was delicious. Made with sweet potato, plantains, carrots. Very tasty. The Salade Printariere was delicious. Seafood linguine with mussels, whitefish and shrimp was tasty but short on seafood. Bread was excellent.

Basic solid food, and friendly service. I tried the lobster and the Nicoise dinner salad on separate occasions, and would eat them again if I were in the neighborhood. I would not be likely to go out of my way to come here, though.

The server did not give us a receipt, but wrote down prices on a piece of paper with 10% sale tax on it to show us. We paid 10% ! Be aware! Food is good though.

Sandwiches were tasty. Service was quick and silent... nice when you want to talk for awhile without being interrupted frequently. Will be back in the future.

Great deal with well-prepared authentic bistro cooking at a very reasonable price. The lobster is the best deal in town for less than $20.
