Food was good! Everything else Terrible! Host told us one waiting time, but when her friends arrived 10 min into our time waiting, she sat them first within 5 min (For a table same # ppl as us). Wanted to leave right after we saw that, but we drove an hour to this place specifically. Finally we waited double the time we were told. We were seated at a table where literally everyone is so close to you like a foot away. You cant even hear the person your sitting at the table with talk because its SOO crazily loud and chaotic! Waitress took our orders without writing them down and forgot to bring some side dishes we ordered with our meal. Not once did she ask how everything was. Brought us our check 20 min after we were done eating and our table was already cleared off by other servers and still other servers brought us another check earlier and took the payment. Very disappointed with the experience! Kinda even ruined the start of the day! Would not go there again. The good food isnt worth the experience!

Started out our meal with salads (Bonaparte Salad & Balthazar) both we amazing! We also did the cheese course. I hate bleu cheese and it showed up on it so that was a negative to me. Perhaps I didnt read the cheese description well enough but I ALWAYS look for bleu to make sure I ask for it not to come. Dinner was Filet Mignon Au Poivre and the Salmon. The Filet was pepper crusted and it was just WAYYYYY too much pepper. The sauce it came with was amazing but as soon as you tried the steak all you could taste was pepper. I have nothing but rave reviews for the Salmon! We also had 3 adult beverages and our total ended up around $130, it was a little more than expected but it happens. The seating was really cramped and the tables were tiny so docking a star for that. Also we were in a rush at the end to leave because of parking and it took a bit of time to get our bill. All in all - we wouldnt be apposed to going back again.

Heres the sitch. My crew made a reservation for six for Sunday December 6th for a beautiful brunch, our last in D.C. before my wife and I had to depart back to Texas. When we arrived, it turned out the hostess gave away our reservation to another party with the same first name, but a smaller number of people. No biggie, we said we can wait 30 mins for another table to open up. When we did some shopping and returned 20 mins later, we found at least 4 NEW PARTIES who had been sat down, including a party of six. WTF. Then we were lied to by the hostess and told that those folks had arrived before we did. Were then told that they could take our order and seat us as soon as they could. Thats just plain disrespectful though. Own up to your mistake. Never tasted the food and probably never will. Ended up eating down the street at an awesome marketplace restaurant.

Why would they advertise out front that their a bar!? I showed up in a t-shirt and khaki shorts after I went for a hike just looking for a quick drink on my way back to my apartment. The moment I arrived I was greeted with glares from the staff and ignored by the bartender until I had to nearly shout to get his attention in a quiet room. After belatedly making my drink I asked for a glass of water, which he ignored. Upon getting my check I again requested a glass of water and was again ignored. From the moment I stepped into this cafe I was treated as if I didnt belong due to how I dressed. If they want to be elitist and snobbish towards customers thats their choice but they could at least put a dress code requirement outside their restaurant if they want to send the message that the average person isnt welcome unless theyre wearing their Sunday best.

A great escape from DC can be found here. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. If you are looking for your perfect French cafe, this is the place. I came in around 3:45 and the restaurant serves their Lunch Special till 4p.m. I had made it in time, the special is $12 and you can have a choice of two: half sandwich, half soup or half salad. I chose the Elba sandwich and the French onion soup. Excellent combination and very tasty. I ordered an espresso, the price was on the higher side than most prices in the DC area. The seating next to the window is a treat, good for people watching. Staff was friendly and helpful. I cam here on a separate day for a cafe latte and was not impressed with the latte. The latte foam was more of hot liquid milk. Not very foamy which is what I prefer for my latte.

This is a great spot for a leisurely and tasty meal. Its tiny so unless you go off peak hours, expect a wait. We tend to go early weekday mornings avoiding the brunch crowd. You still get some good breakfast options without the brunch portion of the menu. The coffees are fantastic and you can get them as iced versions which is heaven during this heat we have! My favorite is still the French vanilla latte - hot and cold are very good. The crepes are really great too. We do savory ones and then share a sweet one (usually the Josephine). Lunch is good too, the sandwiches in particular. Service is always friendly and not intrusive or pushy. It is laid back French style so they dont rush you out like other places. Its one of my favorite places in the neighborhood.

The place is a little hole-in-the-wall. Cozy. Tables lined-up against one wall with an improvised bar on the other. The hostess seemed to be a mid-30s Russian lady. She was very professional and was attentive to my needs. Ordered a soup, Belgian Beer, and the "Poulet Bonaparte", a pepper-crusted breast of chicken with white wine dijion mustard pepper sauce. I was at first a little put off by the price of $21 for chicken breast, but the care they put into preparing it allayed my concerns. The chicken was absolutely delicious. In fact, it was one of the most memorable flavors Ive had in a long time. There is an informality of the place, but most of the folks there were sharply informally dressed. Will be back.

I was already looking forward to returning to Cafe Bonaparte after sitting down at the "bar" and perusing the surprisingly varied menu. Thankfully the food didnt disappoint! This small cafe has an unmistakable charm and list of crepes that is sure to please everyone. While the portions are fairly small compared to most brunch spots, it just means you can try a savory and a sweet dish. The potatoes (home fries?) were delicious - I wish you could simply order a side of them as they would really complement a sweet crepe. As Bonaparte is located right in Georgetown, parking is at a premium and there is no metro stop nearby. Try nearby streets like 33rd - especially on a sunday when zones dont apply.

This place is a mere shadow of the original location, Napoleon, which is now closed. We went at noon on a Saturday and did not have to wait for a table. The service was fine, but the food was bad. I got the Mona Lisa which is a poached egg in a baked crepe cup. The cup was completely burned. I cant believe they actually served it. Disgusting. Every plate used to come with a heaping serving of delicious roasted potatoes--this time I got about 7 potato chunks. The rest of my party was also very underwhelmed with their food. It came out to be $16.50 per person--definitely not worth it! We will not be returning. A shame, because Napoleon used to be our favorite brunch spot in town.
