My dad purchased a groupon for my husband and I to use after reading mostly good reviews online. Being Asian culinary fanatics, my husband and I were excited to try this place out, especially after seeing it received 4/5 on Google and 4 on yelp. However, whoever decided that this qualifies as good Thai food has obviously never eaten at a good Thai place before. Positive: service was great, really nice waitress and host and the atmosphere was nice. We got the Basil Duck ($16)and the Sweet and Sour Pineapple Beef ($13.50). The duck was questionable as if it was actually duck meat. It was in no way crispy and cooked all the way through to the point of resembling a chicken thigh in consistency and taste. The basil was crispy and not overly greasy, however the sauce tasted completely prepackaged. For 16 bucks there was under 4 ounces of meat on the plate. As far as the sweet and sour beef was concerned I have had leagues better at all you can eat $5.95 Chinese buffets. The sauce on the meal was something that should have NEVER been plated. It reminded me of the sweet and sour sauce served with your chicken nuggets at McDonalds. The vegetables were the same in both dishes with the exception of cooked cucumber in the sweet and sour. This one star was given for the service not the food. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I travel frequently for my job and often try out new restaurants based on reviews here. After reading all of the reviews here I decided to try out Thai Siam in Salt Lake City. I arrived on a Wednesday evening at 5:30pm. There were three other tables already seated. I ordered the Thai Spring Rolls as an appetizer and the Duck Curry (house specialty) as my entree. After a fifteen minute wait - both the appetizer and entree arrived at the same time. The sping rolls were cold and oily so I sent them back asking for them not to be replaced (since i had my entree). As for the entree, I was not impressed. I had requested that the spiciness be very high...the kitchens response to that was to provide a small cup of red pepper flakes.. ??? The sauce of the Duck Curry was sickeningly sweet and completely lacking of any curry flavor. The duck was greasy (as duck often is) but this dish just didnt have any flavor (yet its the house specialty). I have been fortunate enough to experience wonderful Thai cusine in several cities around the world - Thai Siam simply does not measure up. I doubt seriously that I would ever go back here, nor recommend it to any of my friends - life is much to short to eat mediocre Thai food..

Our server was one of the owners of the restaurant, and they have done very well in both taste and atmosphere. From the outside, it seems like a run-down place, but inside they have re-designed everything. The service was fantastic, and friendly. My husband and I went for our anniversary to try something new (He had had it before, but I hadnt.), and we didnt have a single problem. The slow burn of the curry and coconut milk dish we had was perfect. We absolutely loved the curry puffs for our appetizer. We were overall very pleased with our experience!

Service- slow and, sadly, rude. We were treated like a nuisance, not like guests. Food- noodles were mostly uncooked and the meat was dry. Not very happy for the cost. They also did not give us the food we ordered. Wait- seemed very long Weve been to this location many times in the last few years. Up until the last months or so the experience has been pretty good. Something has changed though. The above are my thoughts from the last 5 or 6 times visiting, and after our last experience I dont think well be back. Time to find a new go-to thai place.

This used to be a really good restaurant and we have been going over there for last 9 years. With the new ownership, the food quality & taste is terrible, quantity has gone down and the prices really up. Other reviewers might have gone to this restaurant, when it was good. This is as of November 2014. New owner might have been watching TV shows. Their focus seems to be on presentation of the dish & not on the taste or quality..For 15$ for thai curry, they can do definitely better or atleast retain the old quality. Will never go again.

My wife and I have only been here since but we were quite impressed! Our favorite Thai restaurant is Krua Thai but this place is still spectacular! You have to try their spring rolls because the sauces it comes with are super delicious. We also had their coconut soup (great) and their red curry dish. All of it was good. However, if you like your food spicy (I do) let them know because it will come out mild; without Thai chili flakes. The service was also really prompt and friendly.

This place is nothing short of amazing. Im a green curry connoisseur & Im cant even-ing right now. Im dead. Everything was top notch--the robust flavors & even the presentation was on point. We tried the steamed dumplings, crab in a blanket (wontons), green curry, crispy basil duck & the chocolate strawberry wontons & sweet rice w/mango for dessert. WOW. Highly recommend all that, but Im sure absolutely anything you order will be just as delightfully fulfilling.

I was a disappointed with Thai Siam. The massaman curry was not the flavor I was was expected or wanted. It had a bitter bight to it. I did try the coconut soup which had a strong bitter flavor as well. The ginger stir fry was the only item that met my expectations. Perhaps Thai Siam would be considered more authentic in its flavors, I cannot say. As for me, I am not likely to go back. There are other Thai restaurants that I know will satisfy.

The food was really good. BUT the service was terrible. There was a mix-up in the kitchen, and we didnt receive our food for an hour. Not an exaggeration. We timed it. So for an hour we drank water and watched other people come, get food, eat, and leave. The server apologized for the delay, but she didnt offer any other compensation. She just let us sit there for an hour drinking water. I would never go back again.

This was a very busy place! The atmosphere, although busy, was very nice! Our server ( the name tag said Thai Siam 7) was wonderful. She checked on us regularly and always had a smile and kind word. I had the Drunken Noodles (well, I asked for them to be "wasted" not merely drunk) were very tasty! The vegetables were fresh, and the spices were just right! I have found my new favorite Thai place in Salt Lake!!

I have heard good things about this place, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The location could be better but upon entering you feel the warmth. Our server recommended we try the calamari and it was wonderful. We received our dinners quickly, the food was terrific. I have become a regular and have the same experience every time.I recommend it to everyone.

Excellent food, great prompt service, and very authentic flavors. Negative reviews may be due to reviewers expecting an Americanized meal, if you want those flavors, go elsewhere. This food is has a powerful authentic taste. Both the Draper and Salt Lake locations are fantastic. I recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a true Thai experience.
