You drive up to the place and you think, hmm, nice, high-end steakhouse. You walk inside and get seated and you think the same thing, the ambience and menu, the staff, all seem first class. The food leave you underwhelmed. My son and I were in town for the NCAA Baseball Tourney and both of us ordered the 9 oz filet mignon - both of us were not real happy with the quality of the meal. There is no way the steaks were 9 oz. I ordered mine medium rare and it came medium well. The sides were less than desirable - the mashed potatoes fill up a third of the plate, but the asparagus side includes three (3) asparagus stalks. My son ordered the baked potato and the skin was hard, crusty and overcooked. The starter spinach salad includes spinach, some sliced almonds and some sort of dressing - not the most pleasant. Overall, I might be generous is giving this place a 3. If this place was in Dallas or another large city Id give it a 2. Disappointed.

The service at the bar is usually pretty good if you like an alcoholic beverage. Teetotalers frequent the place and speak of their peers in hushed tones of negativity, hypocrisy, and scorn while they drink their gin martinis and speak of east Texas social justice. A true Bible Belt crowd here along with all the nuances that go along with that group of individuals. The food here on the other hand is exceptional. Oysters Rockefeller are to die for, as are the chargrilled oysters and the loaded oysters as well. As long as you can drown out the Tyler elites/trust fund babies ranting about their portfolios and general obsession with money you can have a pretty good time here.

Our date night dinner last night at Dakotas was delicious and romantic, perfect from beginning to end. The new owners have made Dakotas the date night location for Tyler. The tables have white tablecloths, a tea light and a beautiful flower bouquet. The presentation plate of the best filet mignon in Texas had grilled asparagus and grilled tomato slice atop a slice of squash. We were very happy to have a choice of a baked potato. Their new location plans to have music some nights and to make it perfect for date nights, birthday and anniversary celebrations a small dance floor would be very nice.

Our first experience with Dakotas was a couple of years ago at the old location and I thought it was a decent restaurant with fairly good service. We experienced the new location recently and while the atmosphere attempts an upscale steakhouse, the service and food do not. Word of mouth would tell you that this establishment could rival an established steakhouse from a larger city. It does not. The food was good and the service was acceptable but neither were outstanding. We will most likely dine here again but with renewed expectations.

Really disappointed with the wagyu ribeye steak, i ate at the bar bartender was nice didnt get her name but I overheard her saying to the guy next to me that she was from Brazil. Went there specifically for the stake, walked out still wanting a good steak. Its never like me to leave some of the steak if it was good. The bartender will confirm that I left a decent size piece of the steak. She asked me how it was I didnt really want to answer because I didnt have anything good to say and she seems like a good bartender good attitude.

It was our anniversary date night. We were excited to to go there for first time. We were seated in a romantic spot with candle light. After thirty minutes of not being waited on I went to the hostess asked her what was going on? They had for gotten us. It was a non busy night. We received our meal it was cold. They gave us free deserts and apologized. I consider it to be a high end restraunt and things should of gone better.

The location is great, and you walk into a great mood enhancing ambianced environment. The blackened salmon was a bit dry, but well flavored. The aged beef tips were moist, tender and cooked to order. The wedge salad was delicoius , although i wished for more blue cheese Great service by the wait staff. The hosts could be more welcoming, after they hung up before I specified my reservation was for an anniversary.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE wow. The best food I have ever had. Ask for the bar manager. He is top notch waiter. He cares and gets personal with you. The food is expensive, but trust me when I say it is literally the best thing you will put into your mouth. I had an orgasm while eating this it was so good. And the desserts, WOW. 100% recommend, would eat here again.

My wife and I seldom get to Tyler. I had just finished a medical procedure and wanted a romantic steak dinner . We went just after 1pm and were only offered the "lunch" menu, NO STEAKS OFFERED!! I orderef the Big "Ass" Burger which was a big ass disapointment. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich and found it to be very dry. The waiter was a good one. Sorry to say but we will not go back.

The food is AMAZING! Great atmosphere for romantic dates with dimmed lights and candles (albeit electric) on each table. We celebrated my wifes birthday and the server brought her dessert (see pic). My wife had the filet mignon and claims is the best shes ever had. 5 stars hands down. Be ready with at least $100.00 check for 2 steak entrees and drinks.

Went for Fathers Day on the Friday before. WONDERFUL meal, very quiet setting. There is a bar, but it can be closed off and you cant hear the noise. We all had steak, with twice baked potato, wonderful bread as a starter. HIGHLY recommend this place for a nice setting and high end foods in Tyler Tx. Yes its pricey (140.00) but well worth it.

Well my wife and I had dinner at The Grove tonight and we wished we had chosen Dakotas. Dakotas service, food and atmosphere is second to none in Tyler Tx. The next time I want to have a great meal with an awesome experience I will just head to Dakotas. I know the money I spend will be well worth it at Dakotas.

Terrific jewel of Tyler for fine dining for the meaty fare lovers. The waitstaff is well informed and enthusiastic, and the food is top notch for the price point. The manager is extremely personable, which is a lost art form in this day an age of mass food chains!

This is a fabulous restaurant. I went for a dinner meeting and the service was like a well oiled machine. The Oscar style filet mignon and mashed potatoes were awesome and I am not a HUGE steak lover. Very flavorful!

I have been looking for a good steak in Tyler for quite some time, and quite undoubtedly Dakotas has the best so far. Exemplary service and courteous staff makes this restaurant a definite "go to" in Tyler.

Food was not good. Twice baked potatoes were more like four time baked potatoes. Chicken was very dry. The person I was dining with developed food poisoning. Will never go back. Over priced and under par.
