My nine year old son requested that we have his birthday dinner at a hibachi restaurant because he enjoyed the last one so much .. (near Best Buy in Grapevine.) Shogun Sushi proved to be a very good choice for us. We arrived at 6:15 to find ample parking near the front door. We were greeted within a few moments by a tall host who escorted us to our seats and gave us wine lists, menus, and a "sushi study guide". Thankfully, all seats around the grill table were not occupied which allowed us plenty of room for our family of four. Our waitress promptly greeted us and asked us for drink orders. She helped me decide on an appetizer. (Im definitely not a connoisseur of sushi but I found the California roll to very tasty, as did my nine year old.) Our chef arrived at our table and flawlessly confirmed all of our orders. He then gave us a show of twirling his cooking utensils, spinning eggs on the grill and cracking them with the edge of his spatula after a hefty toss in the air. Our chef surprised both boys with his trick ketchup squirters, leaping flames and smoking onion ring funnels. The food (Shogun steak for two, lobster) was cooked exactly how we ordered it. My sons and wife, who have much more discerning pallets than me, had NO complaints about ANY of the food (a rarity in our family). In fact, we polished off everything except for some of my nine year olds chicken ... we were given a take home styrofoam box. Our waitress brought out a complimentary fried ice cream dessert while another employee rang a gong to signal everyone to start singing "Happy Birthday". We were also given a complimentary photo. All in all, we had a very enjoyable dinner. The ambience was perfect.. not the typical loud, hardwood floor noise in many North Texas restaurants... a mix of couples, families, and friend groups enjoying dinner with soft Christmas music playing. The service was excellent... not too slow, not too pushy ... sincere, pleasant, and entertaining. The food was delicious .. but Im not the best person to ask. The price was fair and reduced by a 25% off coupon that my wife found. Bring your friends and family and check it out for yourself.

This place is delicious! Sushi is always fresh, Hibachi chefs are funny because they try to make jokes and cant speak English very well and they admit it lol, servers are down to earth and monitors the table and refills drinks without you even noticing. Decor is mediocre, awesome layout in sushi dining, very modern, Hibachi section is very dim but the tables arent like other Hibachi tables with the vent above your head. I went there to eat with my family and the chef even let us flip are own eggs, how cool is that? I dont recommend eating there on a Saturday night though, they seemed very rushed because of how busy it is so the Chefs wont perform most of there own shows. Bringing your kids is a must for birthdays!

Enjoyable! Food was good. I just have a couple recommendations for the establishment. Even on a slow night have the staff look happy, or not annoyed. It was awkwardly quite, and I feel like we had the staff hovering around us too much waiting for us to get up and leave. Our cook was good, no complaints. Have some music going a little louder to spice up the place on a slow Monday night. Was there for my fathers Birthday, so us as a group still had a good time. Was at the bar before being seated and was not asked if I wanted a drink and then we sat. Took about 15 minutes before I was asked to receive a drink then I had to ask every time I wanted another. Trying to pay you guys, give me some whiskey and coke darn it!!

My husband and I used to frequent this place all the time. Now that weve moved to Dallas, we come here whenever we can get to Southlake. However, its really gone downhill. New ownership maybe? The employees have definitely all changed. The menu has gone up quite a bit as well. The last time we came here, we were charged extra for the ginger and cream sauces that always used to come with the rice. We told the "head waitress" that weve been coming here for the last 10 YEARS and have never been charged. She didnt care so we left. Sad well have to find a new sushi/hibachi place but not sorry to leave this poor customer service.

This place was great a few years ago, but lately the Habatchi tables are dirty, food quality has greatly declined, staff treats you like you are a bother, cant make a reservation, they wont seat you WELL before they close (Ive been shunned at 8:45 because they were "slow tonight" when the sign on the door said closed at 10. Do yourself a favor, if you just happen to be in the area DONT. If you live in the area take the drive to somewhere else, its worth the drive not to eat here.

Restaurant was very understaffed, and many of the employees were congregating, talking and drinking their fountain drinks. I had to interrupt the employee chatter to ask for our California Roll which had been ordered 15 minutes. We waited ten minutes to get our soup, which came out with the salad at the same time. The only reason this place gets any stars at all is because the food is REALLY good.... just not worth the wait for everything. They werent extremely busy either.

I love sushi and have tried sushi all over the US, from Hawaii to Las Vegas to New York and this is ONE OF the WORST places I’ve ever tried!!! The quality of the fish is horrible and the flavor is tasteless. Never go here, it’s not worth the time or money. Hibashi Teppemyaki & Sushi located in Burleson, TX is WAY better another place to try is Sushi Axiom. Anyone who says different has no clue what your talking about. BAD! BAD! BAD!

We love this place and go there often. The sushi is good and the hibachi is great (the fried rice is amazing). No more expensive than any other hibachi place around. The only ding is that the show (what the chefs do while cooking like make a smoking train out of an onion) is always the same. All in all, we highly recommend Shogun.

We always have a great time when our family goes for hibachi! On our last visit, the staff had to deal with a belligerent diner while attending to the other guests needs. Even though the situation continued to escalate, the staff handled themselves with complete professionalism throughout the unusual experience. Well be back!

The aesthetics were not pleasant. LED lights everywhere. There is just one big room, giving a nice warehouse vibe. The service was slow. Server did not remove plates quickly and water was not filled up often. The chef seemed rushed and did not take his time with us. The food was okay. RIP Kobeya.

Ive stopped by several times now, and the sushi has been excellent every time. Ive been to four or five other sushi places all over the city, but this one is the best. Their spicy salmon and tuna rolls are phenomenal, and rice in the sushi is perfect. Id recommend this place hands down.

Definitely one of the best places to get steak around! My other half and I frequent this amazing restaraunt! Thought the price is a little much sometimes, we have to have Shogun at least once a month! The chefs are fun and the sushi is outstanding! Go there and make your own decision!
