Spicy Ginger in name only! My wife and I were looking to try a new Asian restaurant, which we do regularly. She is Vietnamese. Thus, I eat a great deal of Asian cuisine. I ordered their Spicy Ginger Broccoli with chicken as the protein. While I did not expect the quality I would get at home, I did expect a certain flavor profile, that of ginger. I was very disappointed to find that there was zero flavor of ginger, and I was told it was just the name, which to me should be considered false advertising. The only thing the dish tasted of was chicken broth zealously thickened with corn starch. My wifes pad woon sen was also disappointing. Again, it was very bland. While "Spicy Ginger" restaurant is using decent quality produce and protein, it would behoove of them to work on actually adding real ginger to their dishes with the word "ginger" in them. In general, they need to revisit their recipes and work on adding much more flavor to their dishes. Corn starch should be avoided when ever possible!

Okay my hubby and I first started going here when they first opened and continued faithfully nearly every weekend for carryout. We always, always ordered the same thing...and it was always, always really good, until one Sat. evening we were digging into our Vietnamese spring rolls we discovered a very black, short, straight hair baked into one of the pieces. We pulled it out and got grossed out. It looked like animal hair due to it being very coarse. And upon further inspection of the sliced rolls we discovered several more. TO OUR HORROR! We loved this place until that day. My husband packed up the food and drove back to the place and they refunded our money. We will never eat there again. Too bad because it was ALWAYS (as I think I overly emphasized earlier) very good. The lady who works the drive thru and cashier has been the same since it first opened was very nice and friendly and would recognize us every time we ordered. Such a shame!

I love the food here, but reason for one star is a nightmare experience from the lady in drive thru, i called in my order 15-20 min prior and when i show up she tells me " the car behind you called first and i havent put your order in the system" my reaction was shock that apparently she hasnt even put my order in and she had me drive around the whole store only to tell me another car behind me "called first" and she said it with a very sadistic smirk which i did not appreciate so i decided just to go inside so i dont have to worry bout further complications and she had me wait another 10 minutes! My whole time waiting around this store was anywhere from 30-40 minutes after i called in my order 15-20 minutes prior to that! I love the food but im gonna take my business elsewhere if employees like her will treat customers like dollar signs and not like actual people.

Today 3/11/16 I order 4 plates on drive thru... After 30 MINUTES waiting I started to get anxious. I knocked on their drive thru window, they completely IGNORED ME several times. (And by two different people)... Used my cars klaxon... Still ignored me. Two cars behind me left (having ordered already without paying yet)... It was raining and I was not in the best mood to go inside and make a scene (I really tried.. And waited and waited)... Once they finally opened the window, I asked for refund and left after 40 MINUTES. I, of course will never come back or recommend this place. The food is not great. I just wanted to give it another chance (since one of my kids asked for "orange chicken" and I didnt feel like making it and this place is around the corner). Before this incident I Would have given a 2.5 stars. Now its a 1 since theres no 0.

First off I always enjoy their food, the service is less than desirable Sometimes I stay away for a while due to the service. Mondays are the only times I get anything off the lunch menu pepper steak today was TERRIBLE the beef was tough and Im certain it was pre -cooked and reheated. Tough and over cooked on the edges just pretty much both plates were a waste, they were thrown out my daughter had the same experience with her plate. We love their beef and chicken flambe, but I believe this will be our last visit there. :( If you dont mind inconsistencies*(food quality) and rude service at times. This owner never goes out of her way to appreciate customers or even make them feel welcome. Its a shame.

This has become my families favorite restaurant in all San Antonio. We have been going for 2 years now and the Spicy Ginger family and staff are like our family. I could not ask for a more wonderful place to eat. The food is the most consistant I have ever experienced and always tastes outstanding. My favorite is the Pad Thai and my wife loves the peper steak. We always ask for another peper steak without pepers and extra sauce to take home and there is never a refusal for changing the menu item. The wait staff is friendly and polite. They always know exactly what we need. I would recommend highly the Spicy Ginger for real Chinese/Thai cooking!! It is the best.

Nothing special about their food. Good for a quick bite to eat when you are short on time. They do not accommodate substitution or removing something from the itemyou order. Dont count on getting any hot sauce to put on your food unless you want to pay extra for take out even though youre paying the same price as dine in. I even offered to use the dine in container to put the sauce on my food directly so I wouldnt use a plastic container. They were very offensive about charging for their sauces because "take out is Just different". And... I ordered tofu for one of the entres and ended up with chicken instead ...Now there is no dinner for the vegetarian.

Oh, the food is tasty and fresh. The people are diligent and efficient. Two small complaints: First, the water has a yucky taste to it. Stale? Water doesnt taste fresh. Lemon did not help improve the taste. The food is great but the water is a distraction. Suggestion: buy an RO unit, install a water softener. Rrrrr. Second, while we waited for our meal, we looked up a few times. We noticed that the tops of the round heating and cooling duct work is quite dusty. The floors, walls, table service, etc. were otherwise clean. Well go back in a few weeks to taste the water and to see if the owners have cleaned those ducts.

Hey guys just letting you know you left me on hold (background noise central) for more than 5min, now that alone wasnt enough for this review. I then proceeded to call the store again and again for another 10min and the person who left me on "hold" still hasnt hung the phone up (line is busy) so you arent getting phone in orders now either. EDIT: Yeah over 30min of your phone being off the hook. Luckily Im not far away so when I get there Ill be sure to let you know of your mistake.

Stop driving by and stop and eat! Ive been doing that far too long. The lunch specials are amazing. Fridays sweet and sour chicken was with out a doubt the best s/s Ive ever had. The panang is excellent, the lemon chicken, too. Treat yourself to a crispy roll as an extra at lunch, which only comes with a cheese filled wonton. The I could make a.meal out of the crispy rolls!
