The Milanos restaurants are still doing their thing after decades in the same locations. And their thing is the service of good Italian food in comfortable, aesthetically pleasing digs with consistently solid service. We stopped in to have a late lunch on a whim as we had not been to this location for some time. The winter sun filtered in through the windows to bathe the interior with a warm halcyon glow as we entered; not too bright, not too dim. We were seated at a window table where we immediately began to anticipate the warm bread sticks that were always so good there and were not disappointed when they were finally served. Dipping the bread into butter the color of egg yolk is a distinct pleasure for a hungry twosome and a great accompaniment to the tangy caesar salad we had ordered. Then, we were served tender (mostly) grilled chicken, fire-branded with charred jailbird-like stripes from the hot cooking grate that gave the meat a wonderful charred grill flavor. Gilding the lily is the lemon butter caper sauce with fresh basil for the chicken that one is wont to drench the accompanying pasta (which already has butter and garlic on it) with as well as dip the bread in it. Extra sauce please. Cholesterol be damned! We left with butter oozing from every pore, but very satisfied with our lunch experience . . . again. This is one of those places that could easily become that quintessential little neighborhood Italian place (though it is actually pretty large inside) that you can always count on when you taste buds are telling your brain its time to "Ciao" down.

Wow...For trying this place for the first time, They blew me away! And it was only to-go food. I had two pasta dishes that were perfectly cooked, creamy as can be, with multiple different taste sensations. It was almost like magic, taking a bite of the Linguini Carbonara, first tasting the creaminess of the Parmesan cheese, then I was hit with the salty, crispy bacon pieces only to combine to create a flavor I can not explain with words. Then something so simple as freshly baked bread sticks and a oddly yellow butter sauce, turned out to be hands down the best homemade butter sauce I have ever tried. I am only disappointed that I did not order dessert. Can you imagine?? This place smelled like true Italian food, that I only wish the could bottle this smell and market it. Definitely will be visiting again.

Terrible place!!! I ordered a Smoked Chicken Lasagna....noodles hard/chewy and taste super old. Food was horrible. I can totally understand that this can happen on the rare occasion. The worse part of the experience was the way they treated a customer. He didnt even comp a free meal. Wanted me to pay for a meal that we had to put into a ToGo bag. I didnt get the chance to eat with my family. The manager told me that they are not going to give me a free meal. I informed him that i had to sit there and watch my family eat while they "quickly" put a meal together. Most reputable restaurants would have comped a meal for the poor and horrible original plate. Giving a "free" order of calamari just will not do. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again!!! Poor meal/food and worse....poor customer service!!!!

This place is amazing! My parents have to go every time they come into town! There is never a wait and sometimes live music (on weekends). The waiters are amazing, always so polite. I have witnessed such rude customers there and the waiters are still so so nice to them. the food is NOT overpriced, and I think its actually a good value! I get the same thing (and tastes better) than at carinos or olive garden for about half the price. I took my friend here and as she tried the bread she said "wow! this is better than olive garden!" The bread is so good and the wine is $5 a glass! If you want casual italian in San Antonio, go here! No, it isnt a five star restaurant but it isnt trying to be! hence the name "CAFE milano."

This is not really hole-in-the-wall but definitely not a big chain, and top notch Italian Food. Tony is our favorite waiter, and we ask for him every time. About the same price range as Olive Garden, but without the noise, chaos, and impersonal service. The food is very rich and flavorful, breadsticks are fresh, house salad is very tasty. My favorite dish is usually the special - love the tilapia, crab cakes, and chicken lasagna. If you like shrimp, their Shrimp Milano is as good as Paesanos (only not so pricey!).

Best lunch experience Ive had in ages. They offer a refreshing change to the endless chain restaurants around SA. There mustve been 40 reasonably priced lunch specials to chose from. I got the Italian sausage with peppers and potatoes, it was excellent. Also came with salad and bread. Price was good, service was excellent, home-style cooked food and everything was served in a timely manner (mighta taken about 20 minutes for everything). You wont be disappointed!

Since I started coming to this place about 3 years back, each time is so delicous! Even some restaurants that fall short in their "TO GO" plates .. this one does not!.. The to go is just as awesome as if you would dine in!. Everyone has always treated me so politely including the owner who is very friendly and respectful!. I love the food its always fresh and the bread and butter is great!.. I love this place not expensive either for the quality.

I thought I would be getting a treat as the prices are comparable to some good restaurants in the area but I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered the smoked chicken lasagna and it was dry and just a big mess of sauce and cheese on the plate and had hardly any chicken. The bread was overcooked and the salad was drowned in dressing. Wont come back here as there are better places at the same price.

I came her to eat over the weekend with some friends of mine. I had been once before in the past and couldnt remember why I never went back. Service is excellent; the food is bad. From the almost burned breadsticks, to the over cooked pasta with bland sauce. My friends son ordered a pepperoni pizza, and I would bet money that it was a store bought frozen pizza. I gave it two chances, and that is enough.

Weve been to this place twice. Its okay. The food is fine, but the portions are horrible. The lunch plates only give you half a cup of cooked noodles. The meat portions are maybe a small palm size? Its almost like they starve you during the main course so youll still be hungry for dessert. For $13 - $16 a plate, just go to Spaghetti Warehouse. Your money will go a lot further.

Great place and I could go there over and over again and never get tired of recommending them to my friends. Go there!! And enjoy!
