First, I have to say, this would have been a 5-star review except for one specific thing, that I just cant allow to slide. If you dont want to read a long review, heres the punch line: the General Manager stole $13.60 from me, in the form of a "mandatory tip". I went here with my partner and another couple on a Wednesday night. We had a Groupon, so we called ahead to make a reservation and let them know that wed be using the Groupon. Then when we arrived, we found out that the other couple had gotten a Groupon too. The Groupon says its one per couple, but the place was dead so we decided to ask for an exception, to split the check and use both groupons. The gentleman I spoke to earlier said it would be no problem, and somebody in our group ligt-heartedly said something to the effect of, "dont worry, well tip generously." We proceeded to have an excellent meal. The food was great and there were no issues with the service. Minor touches made a difference. The issue came up when the checks came out. The server had penned in a 20% "gratuity" and re-totaled the checks. I was confused - it says SUGGESTED gratuity right on the bill, and normally with a group of only 4 there is not a prescribed minimum "gratuity." And it seemed strange that he would have handwritten a gratuity into the bill. I asked about it, and his response was, "we had an agreement." I insisted that no, we didnt. The agreement we had was that hed allow us to split a check and use two groupons on a really slow night, NOT that hed decide how much we were going to tip and then demand that amount. Once he stopped saying "we had an agreement," he switched to the mantra, "you get something, I get something," which he repeated several times when I was asking him to discuss this with me. Eventually I gave in and paid, because its only $13 and I didnt want to run the mood over that. So I decided to call the General Manager the next day and voice my disappointment, and leave it at that. So, the next day I called, and found out that this sleazy thief of a server WAS the General Manager (named Joseph)! On that note, Im no longer interested in trying to resolve this privately. Ill post this review wherever I can, and let any other customers beware. The ironic thing is that up until that point, I was looking forward to tipping well! He would have gotten that 20% tip as a MINIMUM! But the moment he told me that I had no choice but to pay it, I begrudged every cent. I will never go back.

Walked here for my first time for the happy hour as I live up the street at the 1111 austin highway apartments. Was cut off by management. I walked into Nosh at around 2:30pm and was the only customer at the bar, drank my cocktail and left. I told the bartender I would be back for Silos happy hour. After arriving again and heading to the back to Silos, I was a little surprised at the happy hour prices, as the cocktails were the same price as Noshs. Nosh has some pretty great prices for cocktails, at $5 for a dark and stormy all day, this easily rivals Silos 4:00 happy hour for $5 cocktails. Disappointing. I was not deterred, but I found this a little ridiculous. After having a cocktail and a few beers at Silos, I closed my tab to have the equally priced, non-happy hour cocktails from Nosh (their tabs did not transfer over) as the atmosphere was better. I was still sober and was looking to try out the different beers that Nosh had to offer as well as guzzle down the delicious ginger cocktail that was the dark and stormy. At this point, the bartender from Nosh was attempting to convince me to slow down after hearing from Silos bartender that Ive had a few drinks. Not a chance, I was perfectly fine, but I wasnt trying to cause a scene being my first time here. I was basically forced to order food if I wanted another drink, so I obliged (I had eaten before arriving, but its not like that would change anything). After ordering, I was told that they had over-served customers in the past and a bartender was fired. Not my problem, but I was treated as though it were. Management had told the bartender that they could not serve me any longer, as I was drinking too much. Being the only customer in Nosh at this point, I was a little bewildered, so I paid my tab and left after only having one cocktail at Nosh. Sad.

Dont trust the hours posted for dinner at this location. During a brief trip to San Antonio for business, I made a 9:15 reservation for dinner, since I planned on seeing a 2+ hour movie at the nearby Alamo Drafthouse beforehand. Upon leaving the movie at 8:50, I saw I had received 2 calls from Silo during the film. They called again at 9:02, and the woman who called was intensely concerned with letting me know that the kitchen closes at 9:30, even though all their posted hours state that dinner is available until 10pm. I rushed to get there as fast as possible, but when I arrived the host station was empty. The place was quite busy, hard to imagine why I was pressured to risk my safety speeding to the restaurant. Finally the kindly bartender noticed me, and while he was very apologetic and assured me that the kitchen was indeed open until 10, I had little faith in receiving quality food and service. Clearly there are some employees at this location more concerned with their personal post-work plans than they are about alienating paying customers. And I had a full days worth of business expense budget to make use of! I asked for my Open Table reservation to be cancelled so I might switch to one of many local restaurants that actually desire patronage from late night diners and adhere to their advertised hours. My reservation remained, so I still had to spoil my dinner by taking time to call Open Table for prompt and responsible handling of my situation. Included here is a photo of a text I was sent from Silo twenty minutes before my reservation time asking me to hurry up and get to the restaurant.

I would give it 5 stars for these reasons: great place for a family reunion brunch & great service (they even put up with my angry uncle). However, they only get 1 star for these reasons: their menu is a lie and the owner does not care. Two examples: 1) The "Roasted Beet Salad: Hydroponic greens, blood orange supremes & Humboldt Fog goat cheese." The greatest sin was to substitute a cheap goat cheese for the Humboldt Fog. Of all things, for the love of god and cheese, do not claim that you have Humboldt Fog & substitute a cheap goat cheese instead; thats sacrilege. The blood orange supremes were actually canned mandarin oranges. Pretty sure the radicchio & mixed mesclun were not hydroponic, considering they were the same greens everyone else had on their plates, labeled under a different name. 2) "Grand Mariner Challah French Toast: Fresh berries & grade A Vermont maple syrup". No Grand Mariner. No Challah bread, just Texas toast. And, worst of all, a cheap corn-syrup based maple-flavor syrup. Im sure Vermonters would call that sacrilege as well. We didnt want to say anything at the time since it was our family reunion & I didnt want to act like my angry Uncle, so my wife called when we got home. After talking to the manager, the owner "Patrick" had no interest in listening to our comments about the inaccuracies of the menu and was not even ashamed to admit that they have never really had blood oranges... ever.
