Horrible experience!!!! ZERO STARS!!!!!! I work about 10 minutes from here and have ordered food many times before. I opted to call in my order of the lunch special of chicken Alfredo and asked for a little extra sauce since it is usually a little dry. When I got to the restaurant for my food I was informed that my 16.00 plate was now $6.00 more due to the chicken. I was OK with this even though they didnt inform me of that when i ordered the food since it was already made. She took my cash and being that I was in a rush due to my break already half way over, I left. When I got back to the office and started to eat, I looked at my change from a $50.00 and found I was shorted. Then I looked at the receipt and found they charged me $5.00 for the extra sauce. This is just to much. I mean I paid almost 30.00 for a lunch portion and they dont tell you any of this. I called the restaurant and complained and they apologized for not informing me of the add ons and told me to bring the food back for a refund. This in itself was irritating since I only get one lunch and it was to late to go get something else however I closed p the container and packed up the food to be returned when I got off of my shift. When I got off of work I went straight to the restaurant. Are you ready for this..... They refused to refund my money because I took a bite of the chicken and ate half of the free bread. Yes you read this correctly. When I spoke to a manager I was informed that they would remake the meal but they would not refund me my money. again I was not informed proper company policies and now have wasted more of my time. What is upsetting is there food is actually OK. There communication and customer service is beyond questionable. I dont recommend this place. I am beyond disappointed with the over all experience and how the manager handled the situation. The employees need proper training on communication and company policies.

If you have any food sensitivities or allergies dont eat here. I cannot eat gluten, milk or eggs. First I asked if they had a gluten free menu or items that the waitress could show me. NO. Second, I asked if the grilled chicken with lemon caper sauce was made with any of the above items. NO. Third I asked what is the thickening agent on the lemon caper sauce,? Answer: cornstarch. Ok I thought, thats doable. Within an hour of eating the above dish I had a reaction, a migraine headache. I called the restaurant the next afternoon and spoke with a manager, Sunday afternoon about 3pm. She told me that pasta is not made with wheat. (WHAT?) I did not order any pasta because I know better. Second, she said the thickening agent in the lemon caper sauce was flour (WHAT?) Do these individuals even know what gluten is? Although the manager assured me that they are very concerned when a customer says they have food allergies, it is very obvious they do not have a clue as to what is in their food. Most restaurants offer a gluten free menu or at least a few items that are safe. Eating out is a challenge but maintaining my health is my first priority. If the restaurant does not truly understand its customers questions and concerns then it is unwise to eat there. We will not be returning.

I got the worst service ever. The wait was long so we decided to have a drink at the bar while we waited. I asked the bar tender whats in the house margarita because I prefer my drink without natural orange juice. She gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes at me and my group and stated "its pre-maid and if you want something better order top shelf. I dont have time for this" I was insulated to say the least and have never been treated in this manner before at this establishment. I simply wanted to know how the drink was made. If the bartender had displayed some common courtesy and some interest to my question we wouldnt have left and gone across the street to Los Generales for drinks and dinner. The smug look and the sneakering made it obvious we were not welcome there. I didnt catch her name but I will not forget her erratic behaviour and the missing front tooth as she grinned at us as we walked away. Unfortunately I had to give this place 1 star based on my experience

Evidentally we look poor because our server made a special trip out to verify that we knew it was 1700 and no longer lunch special prices. Please keep in mind our entrees were off the dinner menu, not the lunch specials on the back. They give you plenty of bread, thatt was a plus. The resturant itself it cozy and charming. Relaxing music. The food is mediocre and the portions are odd. While I received more than I could possibly eat with my alfredo. My wife however received 2 very small manicotte rolls (sorry if my spelling is off). It just wasnt enough. Like I said, the food is just ok. There wernt any flavors that screamed out to me. All in all, its not terrible. However my wife and I will not be back, well go back to the Macaroni grill by the Forum.

The place is nice. Great atmosphere, service is what id expect and more. The food however is not worth the $84 we paid. The pasta sauce tasted like it came fresh from a can. The alfedo was good, but Ive made better in my kitchen with HEB recipes. Everything tasted utterly generic and lacked any kind of depth and complexity. If chef boyardee is ur idea of good Italian, this is the place to go. You will pay identical prices at olive garden or johny carinos and get much more sophisticated tastes with ur dishes. Overhaul ur ingredient quality and recipes Pompeii! Or bring the price down to the fast food mark of $6 per entrée. At least we cud say we got what we paid for.

This place is great! Today was our first time eating there. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. The prices are fairly high even the lunch specials we had were 10 to 12 dollars, but well worth it. The portions were filling and the chicken parmesan was some of the best I have ever had. Their tomato sauce had a fresh authentic flavor. You can definately tell they put the effort in providing a fresh natural flavor to their food without all the excess salt which you would otherwise find at Olive Garden. I strongly recommend this place should you seek food with fresh ingredients which compliment each other.

Pompeii is hands down the best Italian food Ive tasted in San Antonio. Many Italian food joints (which dont even come close to Pompeii) have come and gone yet Pompeii is still going strong. That has to say something in itself. And this is coming from an Italian home with real home made Italian food, mainly fresh sauce. Pompeii is generous with their portions, I can barely finish the spaghetti or the chicken Parmesan. The atmosphere is warm and Ive never had problems with their staff or had my order messed up. Dont listen to these other negative reviews and give Pompeii a chance. You wont regret it.
