We arrived at 5:30 for our reservation for a party of 5. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated quickly and ordered our drinks. This is where our experience went downhilk. We waited over 15 minutes for our drinks. Based on that, we ordered appetizers and a bottle of wine quickly. The appetizers were good (calamari, diver scallops, and carcuterie board) and came out relatively quickly---about 15 minutes. We ordered our meal at that time. I had to ask for water refills. The ceasar salads were good but the tomatoes in the caperese salad were orange so barely ripe. My tomato soup tasted like Ragu spagetti sauce. Another 30 minutes later, our entrees arrived. The lassagna was so burnt on the bottom that you couldnt even cut it. Three of the entrees were luke warm. The waitress disappeared again so we had to flag down a manager to express our displeasure. He promised to straighten it out. We received a 2nd lassagne and it was just as burnt as the fist one. At that point, we decided to just get the lassagne replaced with another pasta. Our Ravioli was one of the luke warm pastas and the new one came out hot and tasted average. The last luke warm pasta was my papperdelle. It came back drier than the Sahara but hot. I ended up asking for extra sauce but when I tasted the white sauce, I was overwhelmed by the flavor of lemons. It was a lemon Alfredo sauce. At this point we decided to cut our losses. The manager never even came back to ask about our new dishes. As one of our party was walking to the restroom, he pulled them aside and told her our meal was comped. He couldnt even come talk to our table. It wouldnt have been so bad but our waitress was also nonexistent during most of our dining experience. We wont be coming back when were in the area.

On 2/14/12 (Valentines Day), my wife and I had a romantic dinner here under the "Valentines Day Menu" which according to my reservation from ZOCCA was suppose to be $75 per couple. So we had mediocre fancy dinner and a glass of wine. When the waiter brought us the tab it was $189.20! This was a full $75 OVER the price we were given. I made sure that day at around noon with the day manager Sergio that it was $75 PER COUPLE. I showed the manager at our 6:30PM reservation the email from ZOCCA stating the $75/PER COUPLE Valentines Day menu and he immediately removed the $75 within 5 mins, despite his sass. The tab came back at $114.20...this STILL included $27 of GRATUITY that I did not authorize, and sales tax of $13.00! Can you believe that they had FALSE advertised such a big day?! The icing on the cake was the excuse from the manager about the sales tax and gratuity, which was "Once we ring it up, we cannot make any more changes, sorry". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I couldnt make a scene on Valentines Day, so I paid the $114.20...left no tip (because they already charged me $27 for gratuity for a table of TWO). For this price I expected better food, better management, and overall better communication within their own restaurant. We could have gone to Biga On The Banks for that price....but stupid me wanted to try something new this year. BIG MISTAKE. I will never go back, EVER.

Zocca is located inside the Westin Hotel on the River Walk so it is mostly a tourist crowd. However, I just discovered it as a local and will definitely be back. It is an upscale yet casual restaurant that does everything well. My waitor mentioned that he feels the management really takes care of the employees and how much he enjoys working there. That really showed through in the great service I received from making reservations with special requests, the hostess upon arrival, the wait staff, a chef who made me a special off-the-menu meal, even great attention and conversation with the bussers. Most importantly, the food was amazing. I have Celiac disease which forces many dietary restrictions on me and makes safe food preparation very complicated. Dining out is nearly impossible and I have only found a handful of restaurants I can trust. Zocca is now on that list and is hands down the best meal I have ever had since getting diagnosed as Celiac. So while, yes, Zocca is on the pricier side it is definitely worth every penny. If you travel through San Antonio be sure its on your list. I will also say to locals (who typically avoid River Walk restaurants) make the trip and enjoy the experience. I promise you will be back!

Very disappointing experience! Was looking for a great restaurant experience by Riverwalk and took the Google rating for face value.. big mistake. We arrived close to 5pm as they were switching from lunch to dinner menu. We were 5 adults and 2 children and asked for outside seating. We were placed in a couple of picnic table style tables under the sun, with all other tables having shade. The wait staff was rude and did not make any food suggestions or offer the specials and looked unhappy to be there. The food took a long time and was overly seasoned. My 4 yr old got the Mac n cheese and they said it came with shrimp. I glad I asked to place it inn the side as they were covered in pepper and smelled spoiled. My husband had to go inside to ask for drinks to get refilled. Overall awful. Not representative of what a fine dining experience should be at Riverwalk.

The food was very good and dishes were clever. We ordered the grilled salmon and the seared snapper. The fish were prepared perfectly, perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right doneness. Sides included very simple grilled vegetables that were prepared meticulously to the perfect texture and clever items such as crispy chickpeas that were very delicious. For appetizer we had the crispy calamari, which included fried peperoncini and fried thin slices of lemon. What a great idea! For dessert, we had the walnut cake, and it was a very solid dessert. I was going to give this place 4 stars because their beer selection is a bit weak, but based on the quality of food, I had to give them a strong 5.

We ate here 5-23-2015 and stayed at The Westin Riverwalk. The worst Italian Food I have ever had. 2 adults and 2 children ate lunch here. My son and I had the Chicken Parm sandwiches that tasted like a Tyson Chicken patty warmed up in a microwave with a jar of pizza sauce poured over it, this mess on a plate was $10 each. 1 Kids Spaghetti and Meatballs $9. 1 Tagliatelle at $14 and 1 beer at $5 and Caprese Salad, when all is said and done it was $61.70 and after tip it was close to $70.00. This was the worst thing we did in San Antonio. DO NOT GO HERE! You will see signs in The Westin saying voted best Italian food in San Antonio. Gawd I hope not!!!!

Sat outside which was perfect for our 4 year old!! Food was amazing!! Had the meatball panini and short rib pizza. There were numerous other dishes we wanted to try and hope to make it back next time we are in town. Good wine list, a but pricey for wines we often get at other restaurants, but totally worth it for the food and the riverside seating! Only gave a 4 because the waiter seemed really irritated with us when we first sat down. Our son was tired and hungry which equals grumpy. We asked to move outside which he did, but he still seemed a bit irritated for the next few visits and then he warmed up considerably and all was well!!
