Called to place an order . Was driving from another side of town and I was put on hold the entire time got there and the person in front was just talking to people while the phone was just off the hook. Then they told me it would be 30 min or so for 2 breakfast tacos. It really wasnt even that busy. And when I asked her why she didnt just take my order when I first called she didnt know what to say. she just gave me this blank stare. Probably wont go back. Its not that good. Its just real close to my house. What a waste of time and energy. Oh yeah and she also took someone elses order who walked in after I was already waiting in what I thought was the line to order and pay

This is a great hole in the wall mexican restaurant. The menu is very basic but the food is excellent and very reasonable priced. Their homemade flour tortillas are to die for. The food portions are very generous and filling. Unless you are hungry I would not recommend the Mendez Special (too much food). Side note - bring cash since they dont accept any other payment form (no credit/debit cards, no checks, etc).

If you go between 9 and 10 am on Sunday. Be prepared to go through a packed pot belly hell for their delicious food . They need a bigger place. People go asking to be seated for a party of 9 or 10. Havent you heard of a restaurant you morons? This place is barely big enough for a family of 3 without somebody so close to you , you can feel them breathe on you.

Delicious food. Took my pregnant wife to eat her favorite Machacado then they didnt have it. If you know anything about pregnant women and food .... You dont mess with it... Well a few minutes later the waitress came to our table and said they got it in and switched her tacos to Machacado with no issues! She loved it and I had a happy wife!

My favorite place in all of San Antonio! Cramped but worth it. I have been going there for the past 29 years starting at age 14. Carne guisada, tortillas, picadillo tacos, and barbacoa tacos are the best. Stop by if you are visiting. Delivered coffee to the restaurant when I was young. I wish the Mendez family continued success.

Food is good but dont come here if you are in a hurry. During the lunch hour you may have to wait for about 20 minutes and then wait another 30 minutes after you order to get your food. Service is OK not great. This place is NOT what it used to be. Come and see for yourself.... Is it worth the wait.. Not anymore.

Food is great service not so good wait 45 after you order to get your food went twice ordered steak ranchera 30 mins later they come n tell me they have no more steaks stopped going but if you dont mind the wait for good food ooh ya thats not including wait to get a table... food n prices great

Food is great. Best tortillas in town. The service is exceptional. They took long to bring our food but during the wait my husband and I laughed joked enjoyed their delicious coffee. So if you are in good company have things to catch up on it will ease your wait.
