I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese, lettuce, and ranch on white bread. I was charged an extra $.80 for cheese... is it NOT included in the menu price just like Subway? I thought the price was too expensive for a 7" sandwich with barely anything in it. Since I only asked for lettuce and ranch, I think not charging for the cheese wouldve been ideal. Maybe my expectations were too high? I ended up paying $8.55 for the sandwich-- Ive never paid that much for a sandwich before! Also, the menu is absolutely OVERWHELMING. Its cluttered with small, colorful letters (hit all the colors of the spectrum)--- a combination distracting enough to drive all brains crazy. I felt so wired, felt like trying to read 800 words per minute while on a high dose of Adderall.

I went out there today to grab a sub, called ahead to make sure it was open cause its the fourth. The lady said they were closing "in a few minutes" at 7:40. I asked if they closed at 8 and she said yes. I was already on the road since its a 20 minutes drive for me and pulled at 7:54 at which time she refused to serve me. I said "You said you were open until 8" and she replied "yeah well.." then stopped responding. Had to get out of my car to tell the cars behind me they had stopped serving so that we could all back out.

This shop is lucky that it serves such tasty sandwiches because I certainly dont come for the service despite it often being friendly. To the degree that Jimmy Johns is fast, The Great Outdoors is that slow. This evening, I waited 20 minutes for two sandwiches with no one in line ahead of me. If these guys werent stoned out of their gourd then Id be seriously worried about developmental issues they may be experiencing.

Ive been enjoying The Great Outdoors since I was a little girl. They are THE BEST best sandwiches in DFW hands down. The bread is made fresh daily, the meat and cheeses are high quality and there is a wide variety of toppings to suit all tastes. They even have wonderful Henrys Homemade Ice Cream for shakes and sundaes. A must try for sure!

The employees are very nice and friendly, and the subs are great. The owner, however, appears to be a horrible person. When I was waiting in line he was screaming obscenities at his employees like they were dogs, for seemingly no real reason. I wont eat there just because I dont want to give him my money.

Took 25 minutes to go to the drive thru and I was only three cars behind. When I did get to the drive-thru got my order and got out on the road it was wrong. Thats after the lady asked me 4 times through the microphone what I wanted. Cant say I had a good experience

Great food. Ive visited both the Greenville and Campbell locations and theyre both equally great hole-in-the-wall type shops, but the drive thru line is painfully slow. The secret is to come after the lunch crowd. Otherwise, be prepared to wait 30 minutes in line.

I was a regular and I like the sandwiches but was always tired of the 30 minute or more drive thru line. After waiting 45 minutes in drive thru and then getting food poisoned Im extremely hesitant to go back. Ive been going to other places since.

Had the Italian Meatball Sub and a Medium Drink. $9.20. The sandwich was pretty good, but not nine dollars good. Not sure Id have that same sandwich again. Its also very busy at lunch time, so plan ahead!
