Lots of hype. Typical of small towns with little competition. Compared to whatever else is available in Prosper, I suppose it would rate well. Took family up for lunch on a Saturday. Nice atmosphere, nice crowd. Staff seemed pleasant enough. Though the country music did make me want to cry. Had a chicken sandwich and fries. Mom had grilled chicken with green beans and coleslaw. The sandwich was nothing special. Possibly frozen, not handmade. Same on the fries. Crinkle cut, started out frozen. The grilled chicken was good, but lacking flavor. Very plain. Green beans were canned. Portions were small. I might come back up sometime and give breakfast a shot, but Im not exactly chomping at the bit.

What food, what employees, what a place! Cotton Gin an incredible hidden gem with 100-year-old photos and ads on the walls. Every Saturday I take my kids to breakfast, and this is my favorite. It has great food and wonderful character.I saw somebody wrote that this is like IHOP. Wow, wish I could smoke a little of whatever they got! It is the antithesis of IHOP. Yep, the food is great, but the folks working there, the down-home customers, and the absence of a manufactured atmosphere is what I really love. I am not a food critic, but I have never had a bad experience there.

This is such a quaint place to have lunch with a friend or 2. My favorite is the daily soup with cornbread, but Ive had other items like their burger of the day which, on the day that I was there, included bleu cheese...YUM!. I try very, very hard when Im placing my order to not look to the right because the sight is very dangerous (yummy desserts that are just as pleasing to the eye as they are to the stomach). Theres also artwork on the wall which can be purchased from the person who made it. Id go there in a heartbeat.

Quaint, pleasant atmosphere with good food. But be aware of the strict seating policy! We were having fun until my children chose a table while my husband got in line to order. We were 2nd in line. The waitress rushed over to my children and said, "No, no, get up! You cannot sit down until youve ordered!" My young sons (one of which is special needs) were embarrassed and cried. They wanted to leave but we stayed because wed driven 30 miles to get here. This should have been handled in a different, more polite way.

We are new to the area and tried it out a couple weeks ago. We were hoping for a quaint diner, with great food. It was very disappointing, from the time we walked in, until we left. The only bright spot was the dessert. We did notice that the regulars or hometown folks got the best service. Unfortunately, we willonly recommend for the dessert and will have to drive further for good food and great customer service. In a small town, those two priorities will make or break a business.

Dick, You are living up to your name! I have eaten here severral times and have enjoyed every visit. Go for a fresh breakfast. My personal favorite. These reviews are not written by professional critics. I have found all to have merit wether good or bad. sit back and peruse many before casting your vote...and contemplate changing your name from DICK to Richard, Rick or Rich. Your attitude gives those of us who share your namesake a bad rap! Rick form colorado

WE THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A SOUTHERN HOME STYLE COUNTRY CAFE. FAR FROM IT! INSTEAD WE GOT INSTANT MASHED POTATOES, AND CANNED GREEN BEANS. NO ROLLS WERE OFFERED. SERVE YOURSELF DRINKS AND GET YOUR ON REFILLS. THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE HAD NO PERSONALITY AT ALL (ROBOTS)! OTHER VISITS OFFERED GOOD BURGERS AND FRIES. BUT THAT CAN BE FOUND ANYWHERE GOOD BURGERS ARE SERVED. VERY DISAPPOINTED, MUCH LIKE IHOP!

3-piece fried chicken (chicken with bones in it which I love and its hard to find), fried tenderloin sandwiches (also hard to find), and other everyday good eating such as meatloaf, hot beef sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, dinners, etc. If you havent figured out by now, we really like this restaurant in an one of Prospers old original buildings. You owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Ive worked down the street from them for over three years, so we eat in the restaurant and order pick up on a regular basis. The staff is always nice and the food is consistantly good - breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Some of my favorites are anything with grilled chicken and their meatloaf. They also have desserts that are worth splurging on.

Great Food, atmosphere, service, and prices. Love the small Texas downtown cafe feel as it truely is one . As for Mrs Warners comment about service and food was not good and thats top priority for a small town business to make it. The Cafe has been in business since 2001 so I think its standing the test of time.

BEST PLACE EVER!! I LOVE THIS PLACE! Food is amazing, with great service and staff. I already have several friends! The atmosphere is very nice with a setting of an old town resturant and grill makes you feel very at home. Everytime my family and I go we always make plans to come again.

What the heck happened??? We have been placing orders for 6+ yrs...Wheres your menu? ugh, its one thing to take over ownership and replace. Its entirely another to take over and just remove. How can we patronize you when you deleted everything?

Love this little place. Great food and atmosphere. If you live in Prosper make it a point to eat here. My wife and I keep coming back for the laid back atmosphere, home cooked meals, desserts, with that little hometown appeal.

I love my Friday nights at the Cotton Gin! The "Burger of the Day" on Fridays and Saturdays is the Green Chile Cheeseburger. It is the only one in DFW that can stand up to the ones I consumed regularly in New Mexico.

Very homey... good comfort food. The green salsa had a bit more vinager base than I expected. Overall, people were friendly and place was clean. Prices were fair for the quality and portions.

Good food but very limited seating with long lines. Not really Cotton Gin Cafes fault, as theres not many options in a small town so everyone packs into one spot. Very friendly staff.

Family Breakfast is fun to have here. Get here early and the wait time for food is long. I got the Gin breakfast with a side of grits and sausage gravy. Tasted sooo good!

Poor Breakfast - eggs werent done, hashbrowns cold, coffee terrible! Everything is dirty! Why anyone goes there is beyond me. McDonalds food it better and much cleaner.

A slide of old Prosper, TX. Its one of the few parts of the old town that existed before the current real estate boom. Try the chicken and dumplings or the meatloaf!

Authentic is the best word. The small town feel of the area makes you feel like you are on vacation somewhere else. Would go back just for the carrot cake!!!
