Great coffee shop brewing locally roasted beans, with food, tea and juice options that non-coffee drinkers will enjoy. Inviting and relaxed atmosphere. Ive enjoyed each visit to Nerdvana, trying something different each time. The coffee has been excellent, which is sourced from Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. The pour over was perfect and the two lattes Ive had were delicious as well (one with a mocha sauce that was present but didnt overwhelm the cup). The cinnamon sipping chocolate with a shot of espresso was especially tasty. Besides the sipping chocolate, I havent tried any of their non-coffee drinks, aside from a sip or two of my wifes orange juice, which tasted incredibly fresh without being overly "pulpy." Ive had their banana chocolate brûlée toast and cinnamon toast, and found them very tasty. Theyre obviously better enjoyed in the shop rather than to-go. Youll want to grab some napkins, too. The atmosphere is phenomenal. Plenty of natural light near the entrance, lots of seating, easy to use Wi-Fi, and fun yet refined decor based on board games. There is a library of board and card games available for usage and chalkboard drawings celebrate some of the most beloved games. The staff Ive encountered have all been inviting and helpful, and seem to enjoy their craft. There is a tip jar but youre also able to tip via the Square system they utilize, if you feel so inclined. A quick note - for some added fun, download the Coffee Ripples app and the shop will use a machine to custom-print an image of your choosing atop any milk-frothed drink. While I do enjoy Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, I hope that some time down the line Nerdvana may try some other local roasters if theyre able. Its great that theyre using locally roasted coffee, but another coffee shop nearby is using the same roaster, and itd be great to get a bit of variety! EDIT 8/19/2016: I see theyve added Avoca Coffee Roasters from Fort Worth to their lineup! Very pleased! All-in-all, Nerdvana has exceeded my expectations, thanks in large part to its coffee, refined food offerings and atmosphere.

This place has a pretty decent board game selection but that is just about the only positive thing I can say. There were 3 of us and we ordered a hot chocolate, mint tea and a croissant. I asked if the tea order, which was $4.95, was for a pot of tea or a cup. I was told it was just a cup but they use loose leaf tea and can get two cups out of one order. We told them the order was for here, and they gave us an Uno card and said to go have a seat and they would "come find us" and bring our drinks and croissant out. About 1 minute later they brought the croissant to our table, but it was terrible. It tasted like a yeasty dinner roll. About 10 minutes after that I heard our number being called, so I went up to the counter to get our drinks. They had put 1 cup of tea and 1 hot chocolate into to-go cups. The hot chocolate cup was filled about 1/3 of the way up. I said our order was supposed to be for here and that we were expecting a second cup of tea. The server responded that I only paid for 1 cup of tea, so I had to explain to that person what the cashier had told me about getting 2 cups. It took about another 10 minutes to get the second cup of tea. We left shortly after that and probably will never return. $4.95 for a cup of tea? Really?! I wanted to like this place but unfortunately we had a terrible first impression.

I was visiting from the East Coast and excited to check out this fun spot but was very turned off by an incredibly poor experience here. I admit that my boyfriend and I were in the wrong for bringing breakfast from an outside location, however, I did purchase a coffee beverage and we ate the food on the outdoor back patio where nobody else was located because it was very hot outside. We were approached about our food by what appeared to be the manager coming into work. We apologized and quickly finished and threw everything away and wanted to come inside to enjoy the air conditioning, good coffee, and play a game. We were then again approached by another employee that was sent to tell us that we have brought outside food multiple times and if we continued, we would be blacklisted from the establishment. I explained that I was visiting from out of state then left very baffled and with a horrible impression of this place. I understand the policy but I am also a restaurant manager and I would never treat my guests the way we were treated. Im also not sure why the manager sent another employee to do his dirty work and couldnt tell us himself that we were next on the "blacklist". I wish things had gone differently because the coffee was delicious and the atmosphere seemed great and I would have liked to come back.

We were really excited to check this place out but were extremely disappointed with our service. The playing card tracking system is very confusing when there are several orders at the counter and the staff treated us like idiots when we were trying to figure out whos was whos. when I realized that only my croissant was ready the guy at the counter looked at me like whats your problem, and when I (politely) mentioned that we had coffee, too, he responded with "Its not ready - We cant do everything at once." What?? Was that necessary? Then when I said thats fine, I can wait (again, politely), he said "its going to be awhile, theres people ahead of you." So I said, again, thats it was fine, and he AGAIN said "theres like four other orders ahead of yours." Seriously, what was that guys problem? Then I heard another worker loudly saying/borderline yelling "why do people keep taking other peoples orders?!" Im like - dont blame your patrons for your poor system. Also, both of our orders were wrong. Not usually a big deal for me, but just added insult. And no decaf espresso.

Excellent coffee! Locally sourced and tasty, and the people giving it to you seem to be having a genuinely good time working here. They have food available as well, they bake their own pastries and have toast with fruit or spread concoctions, but Ive yet to try them. There is free WiFi that is simple to access. The code is written on the big chalkboard. And there are outlets along the walls for charging, with USB inputs as well. So it is a good place to take a break from the heat and a breather from walking around downtown to charge up and drink a tasty beverage. Im kind of blown away at the selection of games you can play for free here. There is a section of games you can buy, but also a whole section of bookshelves of games you can just grab off the wall and play. And good games too, like Apples to Apples and Pandemic But also silly quick games like Operation. Really happy this place is so nearby!

@Nerdvana Coffee is a really fantastic coffee shop. Their selection of coffees and drinks is diverse and they always have interesting special items, usually with a nerdy theme. Their pastries and desserts are phenomenal. The biggest selling point isnt the food and drinks though, its their massive selection of games you can play. They have massive a library of card/board games that are free to play in the shop. The games are all in very good condition w/o missing pieces. They also have a very good stock of games you can buy. Finally, the shop has a number of creative displays and tables with games displayed in them that add to the overall look of the store and their nerd-appeal. Their staff are all very friendly and helpful and eager to please. Always a great place to stop in for a drink and a game.
