I worked at this restaurant for two and a half months....I would never eat there.... over priced food, produce from krogers, and frozen fish. Keep in mind this isnt a corporation therefore gloves dont have to be worn while preparing your food. I thought I WAS GOOD WITH THE CUSTOMERS BUT ACCORDING TO my tough, brash, unfriendly boss, IRENE. Im just a stupid American according to her just like every other american. I was tired of going home crying feeling hated because Im American and just not as bright as the good people at 838. When I decided to quit the sushichef put me into tears made me feel like nothing and when I tried to walk out the establishment he he kicked the door close and got in my face....I feel like I was verbally abused everyday at work my memory loss was always made fun of by them and my memory loss is due to my grand mal siezures. It isnt ever ok to make fun of disabilities. Im to the point where I have so much stress and self hate from working for these employers at 838. I work hard, I cared about all of you customers and cared more than the boss lady ever did. My race, my nationality , and my medical problems were ridiculed and counted against me. To be in customer service you must like people and I have a feeling that I may be contacting an attorney for emotional and physical stress that this employer inflicted on me. Im not the suing type but I do believe in just deserts....irene and and the old sushi chef need to realize you cant treat people the way they treated me. I thought everyone should know that they are not assimilating to good old southern hospitality and instead make rude comments and only care about money.

I will never patronize this place for the manner they treated my daughter. My Daughter asked for a to go order of their dessert 2 orders equaling 3.95 each. They require a min order to eat at their restaurant to be 5.00 even for cash orders. This was TO GO order. They would not sell her the dessert with out purchasing a soup with each dessert. I called the place up. When I spoke to the woman she said it is per person. I told her it should not matter maybe one person wants to eat 2 orders of Mochi. 2 Orders is more than 5 dollars!!! I told her the business is run poorly. They should not treat a paying customer this way regardless if they are a teenager or an adult. It is the adults money paying for the kids meal!!! BTW want to hear the kicker??? They made her pay a tip!! They took advantage of teenager. This is not the first bad service received from them my daughter went in there to eat. 50 dollar dinner 2 people and left a 15 dollar tip!! They chased her out to the car accusing her of not leaving a tip. She told them to take it from the change as it was enough to cover the tip. She gave them more money for the tip as they scolded her. How embarrassing!! Awful!! It is like the a soup nazi babka episode from Seinfeld rolled into one!! NO MOCHI FOR YOU!!! Awful!! Shame Shame on this business!! Here is a tip for you 838 no more of my money will ever go to you!!!

Service was pretty mediocre. After looking at the menu for 5 minutes and then my wife almost getting something kid friendly aka chicken decided to ask the waiter if they had a kids menu and they did. He just never brought it...we were with a 3 year old for reference. Then when we got the kids menu we saw that it came with a choice of soda...asked if we could get milk and he said hed check. Came back and said its fine. We got an extra charge of $2.00 almost half the cost of the kids meal for the milk. Never told us it was extra. The steak in the bento box my wife ordered and the chicken in the kids meal were both dry. The salad and miso soup were good. The Samurai roll was pretty impressive for being the second most expensive roll there . My sashimi sampler was really good except the included mackerel which I normally have no issue with except its cooked...for my sashimi sampler. The rest of the sashimi was pretty outstanding. They also had Toro on the menu which was pretty nice since its hard to find. So Id recommend this place for sashimi and sashimi only and Id recommend sitting at the bar so you have minimal contact with the waiter.

Last Monday i went to visit friend at West lake Houston and my friend take me lunch to 838 Sushi Asian Restaurant. My friend had Philadelphia roll and Ichiban roll. and i had Dynamite roll, spicy Tuna and California my favorite roll. Dynamite roll was awesome and spicy Tuna very fresh and a little bit to spicy for me but its good and something different a little bit my California roll the crab stick that they put in its taste better than usually i had, and i ask the them what is the name of the crab stick they use. my friend said he like his rolls. we both had good lunch the service very good and very friendly. i would like to go eat again at 838 Sushi Asian if i come visit to this area and i ask them to open another one to area where i live. I will definitely recommend to all my friend. good job Chef

Next time you go out for sushi in Atascocita, look no further than this place! I had never taken the time to stop and try this place out until yesterday, and was beyond surprised at what I found. Not only was the sushi MUCH BETTER than the local "Wazabi" sushi, but the prices were nearly half of what that place charged. It was much cleaner, and the people who worked there were much nicer. The inside of the place is BEAUTIFUL and date worthy. Lots of nice booths and great decoration. A gorgeous sushi bar. Their lunch specials are also fantastic! Real authentic bento lunch boxes that really leave you feeling full. Rice, salad, soup? A main dish? AND you get four pieces of California rolls ontop of that!? This will be my new daily haunt! Try them out, and you wont be sorry!

Ive enjoyed 838 for 10 years now and it remains at the top of my list for sushi in the greater Houston area. The chicken katsu don and crunchy rolls cannot be beat! The black snake roll is also a favorite and lets not forget the unique tuna dumpling appetizer. I have never had anything like it and it is well worth the price. Mr. Lim loves his customers and takes pride in his craft - it shows in the delicious menu items and in the choice cuts of the catch of the day. Service is polite and accommodating, prices are competitive and reasonable and the restaurant (as well as its restrooms) are always kept very clean. A must-try for sushi lovers willing to go out of their way for the best.

I come here all the time and I always order a meal and leave a tip. I came today to order just a beer and an appetizer because I dont have time to order a meal and the waitress was unbelievably rude. After she asked if I was going to order food or not then she snatched the silverware and even the napkins from the table. When she brought me the check I told her this is the worst service Ive ever had and she said "well you didnt order food," I will NEVER come here again. She proceeded to tell me there was an 8 dollar minimum, so sorry I forgot to read the fine print.
