This was, at best, a Japanese /fusion/ restaurant. My tea, at least, was fabulous and exactly what I was looking for. A nice authentic blend, though Im no longer sure whether it was sencha or oolong (It was the same kind I was served many times in restaurants in Japan). As a fusion restaurant, this place gets four stars. The service was good, but the food wasnt quite up to par. Even a fusion japanese restaurant should have sticky steamed rice. The lights also gave off this annoying buzz in the lower registers that was only barely covered by the music. As soon as I noticed it, though, I couldnt un-hear it and it quickly became very annoying. As a Japanese Cuisine Restaurant, though, this place only gets three stars. The following reasons are why. For the price I paid, I expected better, especially considering it was a lunch special. The lunch pork katsu bento I had tasted alright, but there were problems. The steamed rice I ordered wasnt sticky at all - it was more like the regular white rice you might find in your pantry. And there is a difference between steamed rice and sushi rice, though both are meant to be sticky. The pork katsu itself was a bit thin, and there wasnt much shredded cabbage underneath it. The accompanying tempura were good, all tasty and crispy and well cooked, and the tempura sauce was good as well. I cant speak to the authenticity of the tempura elements, but they were tasty regardless. The small compartment of pickled cucumber and onions was weird for me. I didnt really like the flavor, and I wasnt expecting it in a bento anyway. The fried rice (i had my waitress exchange my white rice) was more like a Chinese fried rice rather than Japanese chahan - which is the name of Japanese fried rice. The bento also came with egg rolls and their very Chinese sweet & sour dipping sauce. As egg rolls go, they were pretty tasty, but they had no business being in a Japanese bento box. Almost all of the rest of the menu options struck me as not-really-Japanese -- with the exception of the nigiri sushi and imported alcohol. Kirin and multiple choices of Asahi, as well as a wide (though pricey) selection of sake were all authentic, except for the house blend or whatever they called it.

My wife and I used to like this place. We love sushi in general. However on our last trip here we ordered the roll combo, which was truly disgusting. The fried shrimp and fried softshell crab were both grossly overcooked and mushy, and their interpretation of a "pink lady" roll (which is not described anywhere on the menus) is filled with gross fried salmon skin as the center. This is completely inconsistent from any other sushi place I have ever been to. After trying one of each, we asked nicely to speak to a manager. When I politely voiced my complaint to the manager, I was greeting with standoffish defiance. Exclaiming that her "food was very fresh" when that was never my complaint. When I asked for my check without the roll combo (I had already spent over $40 dollars on appetizers and drinks aside from this) she stormed of and came back explaining that she would only give us half off because we had "already eaten half of it". I am not one to complain and have virtually never sent food back at a restaurant, but I was appalled by not only the poor quality of the food, but the overall poor service and childish behavior of the management. Needless to say, I will never be returning to this establishment when I can get better sushi and service at any number of places nearby.

I was in the area and looking for a good sushi place on Google maps. Checked out their website and saw their happy hour till 630pm. Rushed there just in time. They seated us and as I started to order, my waitress/hostess told me, "happy hour ova there" and points across the room towards the bar. She said, "hurry" as I walked over there. Gee thanks for walking me to the correct table. Guess since Im a happy hour customer Im cheap and dont deserve it. >_< I waited on my stool for some time for a waiter/waitress but no one came. I quickly thought I better find someone before they tell me its too late to order from the happy hr menu. Walked up to the bar and asked the bartender, who ended up being the waiter. Throughout our dining there he didnt check on us once, had to wave my arm to get a refill. 4 rolls and 2 robatas came out to be about $36--nice! The octopus was not very appetizing-cold & chewy. Pork rib was good and rolls were decent. The online menu prices were cheaper then the menu in the restaurant. When I pointed this out, he stated they just changed the menu and prices increased a bit....uh ok....righhht.....Overall, if Im in the area I would not come again because the service I received. Maybe go a lil further towards the mall for a different sushi spot.

We were waiting on our meal for over 25 min. Obviously my meal was cold because the waitress didnt bring in time. When I told her that, she started to argue with me and told me that if I want warmer, she can ask to warm it up in the microwave or I can go eat Chinese. We decided to leave and eat somewhere else. She charged us full price for the meal that I returned. I decided to tell that to manager, it was an asian woman, she started to yell at me without letting me to explain whats happened and saying: "some clients like this meal cold, some likes it warm and crispy, if you like it warm and crispy tell them before you order…" She tapped my shoulder and walked away!!! It was shocking, I paid for cold food and was humiliated by the stuff. I will never return to this place again. Extremely unpleasant stuff with horrible service.

This is close to our home, but we had not tried it. My wife and I both like Japanese food. The waitstaff was great. We were treated well. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. We had miso soup, ahi tacos, and a specialty roll called the Missy. The miso was good and tasted especially good on a wet rainy afternoon. We both agreed that the ahi tacos were a misfire. There was nothing special about the flavor, and they were very small. The specialty roll was outstanding. It was made from chopped yellowtail & avocado topped with more chopped yellowtail, avocado, spicy mayo, unagisauce, masago and tempura crunch. Our total meal, including a creme brulee that we shared was $40 with tip. The quantity of food was adequate, but small by most standards. We will be back, but we will stick with sushi rolls.

Stopped by on a Thursday night during a business trip. I was greeted very friendly and promptly, and seated at the sushi bar. Checked out the wine menu to see what the cold sake selection was and found a very nice variety. The place had a good crowd but wasnt too loud. I immediately pushed the menu to the side and asked the chef for his recommendations. Glad I did. I started with the Yellowtail Sashimi, edamame, and some Salmon Nigiri. All were great. Good cuts, very fresh, and served beautifully. Moved on to the Seared Pepper Tuna, and topped it all off with some "off menu" Quail Egg Shooters ". Great meal, and the service was excellent. Great atmosphere for a date, business dinner, or just a quiet evening out. I highly recommend Waza.
