Im not a connoisseur of sushi restaurants. If I was Im sure I would never eat at one located in a landlocked state. That being said, Matsu Sushi was terrible. Ive never been to a restaurant before today where a plastic plant that is usually found in a fish tank is used as a garnishment on a plate. My meal came with a salad covered in a ginger dressing that I strongly suspect is the same one I bought from Bakers as a Kraft Home Salad kit. My entree did have some cooked pieces such as eel that were mediocre but edible, however I could NOT eat beyond two bites of the raw fish. Why? While I am well aware that fish tastes like fish, if I wanted a strong, sour, tangy fishy flavor I would go find an unwashed woman, and even that would likely taste better. I will not eat here again.

Best Sushi, best service, best prices! This is a family favorite. I have two young boys and Matsu is part of a family tradition weve started. On weekends when we arent running to and fro for sports and the weather is nice, we head downtown and park close by and go to the slides. When were done on the slides we head across the street to Matsu and have the best sushi in Omaha. Afterwards we take a walk and go to the old market and maybe Ted and Wallys before we head out. Its a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon.

Authentic and quieter than the other Old Market Sushi spots. Matsu is my favorite among more popular joints like Blue, Hiro or Tokyo. The portion sizes for sushi are better, but price is about the same. Service is better overall, but there are a few language barrier issues from time to time. The other places are more modern, loud or have an all you can eat options, but Matsu carries an atmosphere of a sushi/Asian restaurant with all the character youd expect.

I love this place i go here every weekend I love the funkey monkey and the las vegas roll uuugghh amazing i love the atmosphere quiet relaxing.. But the only reason why give it a 4 star is..the walls are dirty food stains all over them when you sit on the tables next to them and the resrooms are very dirty everytime i go to this place i do think they should update a little but over all I LOVE this place!!

I thought the sushi was great, the rest of the food was good, but nothing to write home about. Prices were better than any of the other Japanese places around town. On the whole, its like comparing a home style restaurant to a very upscale place. This one is more down to earth, homey, and comfortable. Which is just what a person wants sometimes.

This is me and my wife favorite sushi joint in town, it is small quiet andn intimate. All that aside it has amazingly good food from the best sushi in town ( its NE so dont expect anything miraculous, but it is the best) to there array of other Japanese foods. Try the spicy mushroom soup, and the curry chicken bento box outside of the sushi menu.

I love Matsu. It beats out both blues (west and downtown) on customer service, taste and "atmosphere" - aka: quiet and relaxed..It is also the most authentic tasting sushi that Omaha has to offer. No bells and whistles, no over the top fish tanks or light displays, just great sushi. And thats all I really need and want from a sushi restaurant.

I went to Matsu Sushi for the first time this week at lunch with my girlfriends. The prices are incredible for the amount of food you get! My favorite were the crunchy salmon rolls - they were so yummy and the wasabi was fresh and wonderful! Our waiter was so quick, friendly, and attentive. I was very impressed and we will be back!!!

Very inviting environment with not just great sushi, but a fantastic dinner menu at a reasonable price. Some items might be a little pricey and the service is slow, (they seem a little understaffed) but I believe that good food like this is worth the effort! Order a bento. For the love of all things order a bento.

Why go to Matsu Sushi, when Blue Sushi Sake Grill is right around the corner? I had a terrible experience at Matsu yesterday, and will not be going back. Blue beats Matsu in customer service, atmosphere, and food. Also, it isnt like you are getting a huge savings by going to Matsu. Save yourself the disappointment.

This little place knows sushi and the serves it right and in good quantities! The restaurant is small and decor is much different from other so-called sushi places but once you get the food everything else is forgotten. Thell bring you EVERY KIND OF SUSHI you want, handrolls and all. Love this place.

Unlike other DT sushi spots, Matsu doesnt try to wow you with its sights, it lets the food do the work. A more family-run feel, simple décor makes you feel more at home while serving the better sushi. Tip: try the Nebraska roll, its a different sushi experience you wont get elsewhere that pays off.

High quality sushi that is made at a sushi bar in the front of the store which you can sit at if you would like. I enjoyed the Bento Box which came with tempura vegetables/shrimp, four pieces of sushi, teriyaki chicken and steamed rice. Tons of food for under $20 and it is presented very well too.

Great place to have sushi for lunch! The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing with great service. We had their all-you-can-eat sushi lunch and ordered multiple times from the menu with it. Great sushi! Ive seen a better plating of sushi (presentation), but it was still great for the price.

Seat yourself, I sat at the counter where all the raw ingredients were displayed. They have your typical decor but no music, which I personally enjoyed. Quiet conversation is music of its own. The napa roll was great, just right for a light lunch. I will definitely be back for more.

Good sushi once we finally received it. Reasonable prices. Lots of choices on the menu. Slow service even though the place was not busy. Only one other table had people at it. They could have brought us some soup since we were waiting so long for our food.

Matsu is the most authentic sushi restaurant downtown. Its family owned, and the quality surpasses blue. They have an afternoon happy hour, and they just started doing all you can eat sushi at lunch during the week. Leave the corporate places alone.

They charged me 10.00 for 2 bowls of miso soup which menu says 2.50. Then they charge full price tax on half price sushi. Theyre sushis a B+ at its best. Ill never let them scam me again. If you go here pay attention to your bill. THEYRE SCAMMERS

Service is friendly and timely, and for its price its a great deal. The all you can eat lunch special is affordable and good. The rolls are kindof plain and dont have any eel sauce or anything, so I reccomend the nigiri. Still tasty.

This rating depends entirely upon how you like your sushi. Im not a huge fan of tempura or a heavily reliance on fried items, which they have a plethora of. The fresh menu items are fine, but there are better sushi options downtown.
